Ronaldo secures new Madrid deal
Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed a contract extension at Real Madrid running until June 2021, the European champions have confirmed.
The 3-time Ballon d'Or winner's current deal ran until 2018 and head coach Zinedine Zidane confirmed he was on the brink of a renewal after Sunday's 3-0 La Liga win over Leganes.
Ronaldo will take part in a signing ceremony at the Santiago Bernabeu to complete the formalities of his new deal on Monday.
The 31-year-old is the latest Madrid superstar to commit his long-term future to the club after Gareth Bale secured a 6-year extension a week ago, and he now appears set to conclude his top-level career in the Spanish capital.
Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Lucas Vazquez have also recently signed new contracts with Zidane's league leaders.
Ronaldo is Madrid's all-time record goalscorer, with a remarkable 372 goals in 360 games.

Kroos suffers fractured metatarsal
Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has suffered a fractured metatarsal in his right foot, the club have confirmed.
The Germany international has been a regular for the Champions League holders under Zinedine Zidane, playing all 90 minutes of Madrid's last 11 games across all competitions.
But the former Bayern Munchen player may not feature again in 2016 after tests carried out in his homeland revealed a fracture at the base of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot.
Kroos - who signed a new 6-year deal last month - suffered the injury during Madrid's 3-0 La Liga win over Leganes on Sunday.
The normal rehabilitation period for a metatarsal fracture is 2 months, leaving Kroos set to miss the upcoming derby with city rivals Atletico Madrid and almost certain to be out of the EL Clasico with FC Barcelona next month, along with Champions League clashes with Sporting Lisbon and Borussia Dortmund.
Kroos' hopes of playing in Madrid's FIFA Club World Cup campaign, which starts on 15 December, also look to have been ended.

Poyet sacked by Betis
Gustavo Poyet has been sacked as Real Betis coach after the club's recent struggles, replaced by former Real Madrid midfielder Victor Sanchez.
Poyet, the former Sunderland and AEK Athens coach, had overseen 4 losses in Betis' past 5 games.
The form slump had seen the club fall to 14th in La Liga and supporters vowing to boycott games until Poyet's dismissal, which arrived on Saturday.
The Uruguayan had signed a 2-year deal with Betis in May.
Sanchez, whose last job was at the helm of Olympiacos, played for Madrid during the 90s and was an 8-time Spain international.
His first game in charge will be a clash at home to Las Palmas on Friday.

Morata injury blow for Real Madrid
Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has suffered a hamstring injury that will keep him out of this weekend's derby against Atletico Madrid and could see him miss the clash with FC Barcelona on 3 December.
The 24-year-old suffered a knock in Spain's 2-2 friendly draw with England on Tuesday and underwent a series of tests on Wednesday to determine the extent of his injury.
Madrid have now revealed the attacker has been diagnosed with a muscular problem in his right hamstring and faces a spell on the sidelines.
It is not yet known exactly how long Morata will be sidelined, but reports from Spain suggest he could be unavailable for up to a month.
The former Juventus man has netted 8 goals in 17 appearances in all competitions for Madrid this term.

Bale set for surgery and lengthy spell on sidelines
Real Madrid have confirmed that Gareth Bale will undergo surgery on his injured ankle next week, with the winger set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The Wales international sustained the problem in Madrid's 2-1 Champions League win at Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday, limping off shortly before the hour in Lisbon.
Madrid revealed on Wednesday that Bale had suffered "a traumatic dislocation of the peroneal tendons in his right ankle", and would be monitored.
Early reports suggest Bale could be out for around 3 to 4 months, with the winger certain to miss EL Clasico against FC Barcelona on 3 December, as well as Madrid's clash with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League 4 days later - a match which will decide the winners of Group F.
Bale has netted 7 goals in 16 appearances across all competitions for Madrid this season, and could even be a doubt for Wales' return to World Cup qualifying action against Republic of Ireland in late March.

Torres set to miss Osasuna clash
Fernando Torres appears set to miss Sunday's clash with Osasuna after the Atletico Madrid striker suffered a hip injury.
Torres has been a bit-part player for Atletico this season, making just 2 starts in La Liga.
And he faces a spell on the sidelines because of the issue, which will see the former Liverpool and Chelsea forward undergo an alternative training program.
Atleti are 6th in La Liga, 9 points behind leaders and arch rivals Real Madrid, and have lost their last 2 league games.

Filipe Luis suffers thigh tear
Filipe Luis is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a thigh injury during training on Wednesday, Atletico Madrid have announced.
The left-back has been a mainstay in Atletico's defence under Diego Simeone, playing 18 of their 20 matches in all competitions this season.
He sat out Tuesday's 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munchen in the Champions League with Atleti's progress to the last 16 already secured and a day later he suffered a grade two tear in his left thigh.
Tests conducted on Thursday confirmed the tear, but Atleti did not confirm how long he will be out for.
Atletico look set to be without the 31-year-old for their next La Liga clash with Villarreal due to the injury.

Ronaldo & Modric rested for Deportivo clash
Cristiano Ronaldo has been left out of Real Madrid's squad to face Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday.
The 31-year-old, who is one goal short of 500 in his club career, is understood to have been given a rest ahead of Madrid's Club World Cup campaign, which begins for Zinedine Zidane's side next week.
Striker Karim Benzema and midfielder Luka Modric have also been left out of the squad, while Gareth Bale is still sidelined with an ankle injury, leaving Alvaro Morata, Lucas Vazquez and Mariano Diaz as Madrid's attacking options.

Real Madrid set new 35-match unbeaten record
Real Madrid set a new club-record unbeaten run as a thrilling late comeback against Deportivo La Coruna racked up a 35th game in a row without defeat.
Madrid were without the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale and those changes almost looked likely to cost Zinedine Zidane as Joselu struck twice to cancel out Alvaro Morata's opener.
But substitute Mariano connected with Lucas Vazquez's cross before Sergio Ramos crashed home a stoppage-time header to snatch a 3-2 win and secure a place in history for this Madrid vintage.
The previous record was set by Leo Beenhakker's Madrid side, who went 34 games unbeaten between October 1988 and April 1989.
Madrid's current run started in April with a 4-0 home win over Eibar, 3 days after a 2-0 defeat at the hands of VfL Wolfsburg.
The Santiago Bernabeu side have won 26 and drawn 9 of the games in that span, with Ronaldo the most prolific contributor to the run with 21 goals.

Ronaldo wins the 2016 Ballon d'Or
Cristiano Ronaldo has been announced as the winner of the 2016 Ballon d'Or, taking out the most prestigious individual prize in world football for the 4th time.
Respected publication France Football named the 31-year-old forward as its player of the year on Monday, Ronaldo claiming the accolade ahead of arch-rival Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona.
Ronaldo enjoyed a glittering 2015-2016 season with club and country, lifting the Champions League with Real Madrid and finally ending his wait for international honours, as Portugal triumphed at EURO 2016.
The former Sporting Lisbon player won his first Ballon d'Or at Manchester United in 2008, before collecting the prize again at Madrid in 2013 and 2014.
Having ended its 6-year partnership with FIFA, which ran from 2009 to 2015, France Football's 2016 Ballon d'Or was voted for by a jury of 173 journalists around the world.
"It is hard to explain how I feel, but there is an immense feeling of joy inside me", he told L'Equipe TV.
"I have worked really hard to get here. I am happy with those who believed in me, my family, my team-mates, and those who have worked with me year after year to help me improve. It is not easy. You can count those who are capable of playing at the highest level year after year on the fingers of one hand. I am among them. There are very few."
"Winning the Euros, the Champions League and now the Ballon d'Or is unforgettable."
"For me, it's a great honour to receive my 4th Ballon d'Or. The emotion is the same as in the past. The dream becomes reality."
"Winning a first trophy with Portugal was still missing on my CV. It was one of the most important moments of my life. I will obviously not forget about the Champions League win either."
"The difference is that Madrid are used to winning trophies, Portugal had never won a major trophy. I do not want to disrespect the Champions League, but winning the Euros with Portugal was something special, on another level."
Ronaldo struggled for his best form early in 2015-2016, but finished the campaign strongly after Zinedine Zidane replaced Rafael Benitez as head coach in January.

Ronaldo scores landmark 500th club goal
Cristiano Ronaldo achieved another milestone in his illustrious career by scoring his 500th career club goal in Real Madrid's 2-0 Club World Cup semi-finals win over Club America.
The Portugal international had endured a frustrating outing in Yokohama for much of the game, hitting the post with one header and then somehow missing a gaping goal when unmarked inside the 6-yard box.
Ronaldo had been stuck on 499 after failing to net in club football's biggest game - EL Clasico - and last week's home Champions League meeting with Borussia Dortmund.
It marks another achievement for Ronaldo, who is Madrid and Portugal's all-time leading goalscorer, while no player has scored more times in the Champions League than the former Manchester United forward.
Ronaldo scored his first club goal in 2002 at the tender age of 17 for Sporting Lisbon on his league debut against Moreirense, and it was a typically wonderful effort as he waltzed through the defence with a couple of trademark stepovers before dinking his shot over the goalkeeper.
Since then, Ronaldo's goalscoring exploits have become a thing of legend and propelled him to a position where he is regarded as one of the greatest talents in history.
On 3 occasions at Madrid he has scored 40 or more La Liga goals in a season, falling just two shy of 50 in 2014-2015.

Aduriz agrees to another year at Athletic
Experienced striker Aritz Aduriz has renewed his contract with Athletic Bilbao for another year.
The 35-year-old's deal at the San Mames was due to expire at the end of this season, but he will stay on for another campaign after a new agreement was announced by the club on Wednesday.
The contract includes a clause that will force Athletic to accept a bid of €40 million for Aduriz.
Despite his advancing years, Aduriz enjoyed his most prolific campaign at the Basque side last term, scoring 36 goals in 55 appearances in all competitions.
He has continued that form this term, finding the back of the net on 12 occasions in his 20 outings to earn a place in Julen Lopetegui's Spain squad for the previous round of qualifiers.
Aduriz came on as a substitute and scored in the 4-0 victory over Macedonia.

Juande Ramos leaves Malaga
Head coach Juande Ramos has left Malaga by mutual consent following a poor run of results, the La Liga outfit confirmed.
Ramos' position had been in doubt after owner Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani tweeted farewell to the Spanish coach on the back of Malaga's Copa del Rey exit to second tier side Cordoba, which left the team winless in five matches.
And Malaga announced the departure of the embattled 62-year-old on Tuesday, with the side managing just one win in 7 games heading into 2017.
Malaga - 11th in the standings - travel to Celta Vigo on 8 January following the mid-season break.

Vazquez sidelined by calf injury
Real Madrid have confirmed Lucas Vazquez suffered a calf tear at the Club World Cup and have not put a timeframe on his recovery.
Lucas played both of Madrid's matches in Japan but was replaced 9 minutes from the end of normal time in the Final, which saw Zinedine Zidane's men beat Kashima Antlers 4-2 after two additional periods.
And the winger will now undergo treatment on his grade two calf injury ahead of Madrid's return to competitive action against FC Sevilla in the Copa del Rey on 4 January.
Lucas has scored one goal in 23 appearances for Madrid this season, while Kovacic has made 18 outings with the same goal return.
