We Knew About Valiani - Kaka

The Rossoneri lost 2-1 against the newly-promoted side on the first week of the 2008/09 Serie A season and it was Valiani who grabbed the winner for his side.

Kaka admits that he knew about the midfielder’s prowess because his brother Digao had warned him. The duo used to play together at Rimini.

“Valiani’s goal? I wasn’t surprised at all as my brother told me about him because he played with the midfielder in the past,” revealed Kaka.

“Digao had told me about him and he said to watch him closely, because Valiani had proved himself in Serie B.

“That goal wasn’t just a case of luck - he had scored many of those before.”

Toothless Milan looked like the same old side from last season but, on a more positive note, new arrival Ronaldinho did shine.

The Brazilian was outstanding throughout the game and showed everyone a sign of things to come.

There will be no Serie A action this weekend because of the World Cup qualifiers, but the Rossoneri will be hoping to bounce back when they travel to Genoa in less than a fortnight.

Milan fan ban for Genoa

Milan fans won't be allowed to travel to the Rossoneri's Week 2 game against Genoa at Marassi.

CASMS - The Analysis Committee for the Security of Sporting Events - has decided that the presence of Milan fans could encourage violence after advice from the Osservatorio.

The announcement comes as little surprise because the fixture is always tense due to the murder of Genoa fan Vincenzo Spagnolo prior to this encounter in 1995.

Fans from several sides are likely to be forbidden from visiting a number of stadiums as a response to recent football-related violence.

Napoli supporters won't be allowed to follow their side on the road at all after hooligans damaged a train following last weekend's game against Roma.

We Have To Beat Genoa - Pato

The Rossoneri stumbled at home on the opening weekend of the Serie A season by losing 2-1 against Bologna. The poor start has led to emergency talks at Milanello and the Brazilian is disappointed with the way things are going.

“We are all disappointed with the game against Bologna but it was only the first match of the season,” Pato told Milan Channel.

“There are so many other games to go as the championship is long and I am convinced that this Milan side can do well.

“We have to win our next game as it is absolutely necessary.”

Milan president Adriano Galliani called Carlo Ancelotti and his staff into an emergency summit, as concerns continue to grow at the club.

The coach will need to ensure his side bounce back against the Grifoni as any further slip ups could mean the end of his tenure.

Poulsen Average, Sheva Not Needed – Milan Legend

The Italian league had one if its biggest spending sprees this summer in recent years, with a number of big name stars such as Ronaldinho and Ricardo Quaresma arriving in the peninsula.

Brazilian legend Jose Altafini, who had an 18-year career in Italy spanning three decades in the 50s, 60s and 70s, has had his say on the summer transfer activity.

"Milan have bought too much,” Altafini told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “Some presidents deceive the fans.

"Dinho gives strength to those around him, Quaresma is an element that was missing at Inter, while Riise is very important for Roma."

Altafini was less flattering of Juventus midfield acquisition Christian Poulsen, and also Milan’s re-signing of former hero Andriy Shevchenko

"Poulsen is an average player, while Milan did not need Sheva," he concluded.

Altafini is regarded by some as the greatest Brazilian to have ever played in Serie A. He scored 168 goals in 248 matches for Milan between 1958 and 1965, while he later starred for Napoli and Juventus.

Maldini Blames Bad Luck For Bologna Loss

The Rossoneri started their 2008/09 season in poor style after losing at home to newly promoted Bologna.

Club vice president Adriano Galliani even called an emergency meeting with the coach and technical staff to demand an explanation.

Il Capitano has now given his reasons for the San Siro shambles.

“Unfortunately we started where we left off from last season but there are a couple of reasons for the result,” said Maldini.

“I don’t think we deserved to lose. We made a few errors and I think we should have got more from the game. Once again it was bad luck which also hindered us.

“I don’t think it was easy for Carlo Ancelotti with so many strikers. It only works if you take your chances early in the game.”

The number three then shifted his attentions to his own form and to the game against Genoa next weekend and he insists that his side need to win.

“We have to wait for all our players to get back from international duties and we are all currently working hard to go to Genoa and take back the points we missed out on in week one,” added the captain.

“I am feeling fine and I will continue to work hard in order to find the best form.”

Borriello Returns For Milan

Milan striker Marco Borriello could be back and ready to start against Genoa next Sunday after making an incredible recovery.

The player has been out all summer after he picked up a nasty knee injury at the beginning of pre-season.

However, all that is now behind him as he returned to train with his Rossoneri team mates sooner than expected.

The former Genoa man is likely to play in the friendly game in Lugano on Wednesday to see how he progresses and he may even give coach Carlo Ancelotti a selection headache next week when his side take on the Grifoni in week two of the Serie A Championship.

The striker’s recovery is being hailed as a miracle as three weeks ago he was still on crutches. The medical team had estimated that Borriello would be lucky if he returned in week six but he has burnt his recovery time thanks to a good rehabilitation programme devised by Milanlab.

Injured Gattuso Out Of Milan Derby

Italy and Milan midfielder Rino Gattuso will be out of action for at least a month after undergoing successful surgery for the dislocated hand he sustained yesterday, and this means sitting out the Milan derby on September 28.

Gattuso was taking part in a friendly game with Italy against a team of unemployed players at the Gradisca d’Isonzo training ground when he bizarrely fell into the dugout on the side of the pitch, before banging his head and hurting his left wrist.

Gattuso was taken to hospital for X-rays, and under the supervision of Italy doctor Enrico Castellacci, the midfielder was forced to undergo surgery to correct a dislocated bone in his left hand, as well as a number of fractures.

The operation was successful, but it has now been confirmed that the 30-year-old will be out of action for at least a month.

This is a blow both to Italy and Milan. Gattuso will miss Wednesday’s World Cup 2010 qualifier against Georgia in Udine, and national team coach Marcello Lippi has called up Palermo’s Antonio Nocerino as a replacement.

Gattuso will also be sidelined for several of Milan’s games in September and October, including the big derby against Inter on September 28.

Seedorf Determined To Bounce Back

Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf is still annoyed with Milan’s poor start to the season but he insists he still has the trust of his coach despite reports claiming the contrary.

"I think that someone like myself, who has constantly given his best over the years, will always have the trust from the coach," said Seedorf

The Rossoneri failed to get off the mark against Bologna in week one of the Serie A championship as they lost 2-1 against the Emiliani. Seedorf has revealed that everyone was annoyed and that they are ready to bounce back.

“I wasn’t fun at all and I think everyone felt the same way after the game,” added the midfielder.

“We didn’t want to begin our season like that because that’s how we ended last term however the loss arrived all the same as we crumbled at home to Bologna."

Kaka: I Never Want To Leave Milan

European and World Footballer of the Year Kaka has rubbished rumours linking him with a move to Manchester City, and says that he will never leave Milan unless they forced him to.

Transfer stories about Kaka have permeated the English and Italian press almost all summer, with Chelsea being the club mainly associated with the Brazilian superstar.

“First it was Real Madrid and now it is fashionable to talk about England,” the ex-Sao Paolo man told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The market goes like that. Milan make offers to other clubs and they make offers to Milan. But I would never ask to leave. I have always been treated well and the relationship is excellent.

“One day people may have a different attitude towards me, but that doesn't seem possible to me. I would only leave if the Rossoneri decided to sell me, or the day that we don't have the same objectives and I don't see that happening."

Kaka has been hampered by constant knee injuries over the past year, eventually having an operation in May, and he has admitted that for a long time he kept playing through the pain barrier.

“I know there is concern over my injury but this story has been running for over a year,” he stated.

“There has always been something that stopped me from listening to my body.

“For example, the knee would hurt but we had a European Super Cup to win, and then I wanted the Ballon d'Or and then the games in Yokohama [in the Club World Cup]. It kept going like that until I had to stop.”

Kaka is hoping to return to action for this weekend’s Serie A trip to the Stadio Ferraris to play Genoa.

Wenger To Join Milan Next Season

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger is being tipped as one of the candidates who may take over from Carlo Ancelotti at Milan next season, according to Il Giorno.

The Rossoneri have started poorly this term and reports in Italy suggest that this may well be Ancelotti’s final campaign at the helm.

Il Giorno claims the Via Turati-based club have been looking at a number of possible replacements and Wenger is the latest name to have popped up on the Rossoneri’s managerial shortlist.

Marco Van Basten and Frank Rijkaard, who both played at the club, are also amongst the favourites.

Milan are looking for a fresh approach and a more youthful side and the Arsenal man may be the answer to their coaching questions.

That same agent is now trying to make enquiries over Wenger’s availability. The Rossoneri have a good relationship with the Gunners following the arrival of Mathieu Flamini and Philippe Senderos and may offer the Arsenal coach ridiculous amounts of money in order to lure him to San Siro.

Kaka Is Milan - Ancelotti

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti believes Kaka is the symbol of Milan just like Rossoneri legend Paolo Maldini and midfield general Rino Gattuso.

“Ricky(Kaka) is one of those players who represents so much for his club, not only for what he does on the pitch but for the club’s image,” Ancelotti told Milan Channel.

“He is like Maldini and Rino Gattuso who are both symbols of this club, players who carry the Milan brand.”

The former Juventus tactician then turned his attentions to the game against Swiss side Lugano.

“Tomorrow’s game will be important for us as it’s Kaka’s first game back from injury,” added the coach.

“We will analyse his condition and I will see whether to use him from the first minute. Senderos is also likely to play.”

Milan will be hoping for a good performance so they can head into the Genoa game full of confidence on Sunday.

Inzaghi Suffers Injury Blow

There are fears Filippo Inzaghi will not play for Milan when they travel to Genoa on Sunday after he picked up an injury during the friendly game against Lugano this evening.

The prolific hit-man had to limp off just minutes into the match in Switzerland and Il Corriere Dello Sport claims Inzaghi has strained an adductor muscle in his right leg.

It’s not good news for the Rossoneri. This game was organised to give those players recovering from injury a run out before Serie A restarts this weekend.

Alexandre Pato is now the only fit striker available to Ancelotti for the match in Genoa on Sunday.

Meanwhile there was some good news for the San Siro based club as Kaka has started the game against Lugano following his return from injury.

The Brazilian had suffered from some ligament damage but he has now made a full recovery following an operation on his knee.

He is likely to feature for the Rossoneri at the weekend.

Kaka wants to hit goal century mark

AC Milan's Kaka is gunning to reach the magical century goal mark along with winning the Scudetto and the UEFA Cup.
The Rossoneri playmaker has been sidelined for the entire pre-season following a knee ligament injury but is now reaching close to full fitness.

"The Scudetto is our principal objective this year but it would also be great if we went all the way in the UEFA Cup too," Kaka told Sky Sport Italia.

"The motivations will not be the same as the Champions League but it is a trophy which is missing from our cabinet."

The Brazilian schemer is also targeting to score 21 goals this season in order to reach his century tally for the capital club.

"I would like to reach a century of goals with the Milan jersey this season," added the superstar.

Seedorf: Tough for Sheva

Clarence Seedorf has become the latest figure to wade into the saga of Andriy Shevchenko's return to AC Milan.

Sheva rejoined the Italian side this season after two nightmare years at Chelsea and his reunion at the San Siro has been the subject of split opinions within the football fraternity.

It did not help matters that the Ukrainian hitman looked lost during their2-1 home loss to Bologna, where he fluffed a golden opportunity to score.

Seedorf has now joined into the bandwagon by revealing that Sheva's transition back into the Milan set-up will not be a seamless one.

"I would not want to be in the shoes of Shevchenko," said Seedorf.

"The talent remains, but after two years away it is not so easy. He needs time to return to his best level."

Ancelotti bate pe Genoa sau e dat afară!

Antrenorul lui AC Milan, trăieşte cu sabia lui Damocles deasupra capului. După amicalul pierdut de Milan cu 0-2 în faţa echipei elveţiene de divizie secundă, AC Lugano( echipă la care joacă fratele lui Marco Borriello), antrenorul şi-a criticat pe faţă jucătorii, stârnind furia vice-preşedintelui Adriano Galliani. Acesta a cerut o întâlnire faţă în faţă cu antrenorul, unde i-a cerut să rezolve tensiunea dintre el şi jucători. Ancelotti spusese că se simte "rupt" de jucători şi că e "momentul să înceapă să alerge".

Deşi nu a confirmat oficial, administratorul delegat al lui Milan, Adriano Gallliani, caută înlocuitor pentru antrenorul care a adus două Cupe ale Campionilor la în partea "rosso-neră" a capitalei Lombardiei. Dacă nu câştigă de o manieră entuziasmantă în deplasarea foarte dificilă de la Genoa, Carlo Ancelotti se pregăteşte să fie demis. Deja a fost contactat fostul antrenor al Squadrei Azzura, Roberto Donadoni, dar visul lui Silvio Berlusconi este Frank Rijkaard.

Ancelotti are şi veşti bune. Ronaldinho s-a alăturat grupului şi Marco Borriello a revenit la antrenamente, iar Pippo Inzaghi va lipsi doar 20 de zile de pe teren, aşa că poate să alinieze un prim '11' competitiv pentru duelul cu Grifonul genovez.
