Cabaye announces retirement
Former Newcastle, Crystal Palace, and France midfielder Yohan Cabaye has announced his retirement from football at the age of 35.
Cabaye spent more than 5 seasons in the Premier League across separate spells in the north-east and London and won 48 caps for his country, with Lille and Paris Saint-Germain also among his former clubs.
After making his name with Lille, Cabaye joined Newcastle in 2011 and quickly became a favourite on Tyneside, scoring 10 Premier League goals across his first 2 seasons and 7 in 17 games in 2013-2014 before PSG came calling in January with a bid of around £19 million.
He struggled to truly establish himself with the perennial Ligue 1 champions and returned to England with Palace in 2015, scoring 9 goals in 96 league games despite rarely playing the full 90 minutes.
A short spell with Al Nasr followed before he finished his career back in his homeland with Saint-Etienne.
At international level, he was a fringe member of the France team that reached the EURO 2016 Final - playing in the Group A dead rubber against Switzerland and as a late substitute in the semi-finals win over Germany.
He also appeared at EURO 2012 and the 2014 World Cup.

Only Safet Susic, who played for PSG from 1982-1991, has managed more assists for the club than Di Maria (103).

Flick & Bayern make Champions League history with Lazio win
Bayern Munchen's 2-1 victory over Lazio sealed an overall 6-2 aggregate win in the round of 16 for the Bavarian giants. Lewandowski and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting were on target for Bayern before Marco Parolo got one back for the Italians.
With the win, Hansi Flick recorded an unprecedented 7th win in each of his first 7 knockout stage games in the competition. A Champions League record never seen before.
Flick has managed to beat Chelsea, FC Barcelona, Olympique Lyon, Paris Saint-Germain and Lazio throughout his reign in the Bayern dugout.
The German giants also qualified for the final eight 19 times, more than any other team in the continental competition's history - all the while avoiding defeat in 19 straight games.
By going undefeated in 19 straight games, they have tied their best undefeated UEFA Champions League streak.

Alonso to become head coach of Monchengladbach
Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso will become the new head coach of Borussia Monchengladbach.
Gladbach confirmed last month that Marco Rose would depart at the end of the season to become Borussia Dortmund coach following Lucien Favre's dismissal.
Sky in Germany understands that Alonso will be announced by Gladbach imminently after accepting an offer to become head coach in June with his Real Sociedad contract due to expire this summer.
While completing his UEFA Elite coaching course, Alonso returned to Real Madrid to lead their U14 side before taking charge of Segunda Division B outfit Real Sociedad B in 2019.
Gladbach secured Champions League football after finishing 4th in the Bundesliga last season but have had a disappointing current campaign.
They are 10th in the table and were knocked out of the Champions League in the last 16, losing 4-0 on aggregate to Manchester City.

Lewandowski set to miss 4 weeks due to knee injury
Robert Lewandowski has been ruled out for around 4 weeks with a knee injury.
Bayern Munchen have confirmed that the 32-year-old strained a ligament in his right knee during Poland's 3-0 win over Andorra on Sunday.
The Polish Football Association initially stated that Lewandowski was expected to be out for 5-10 days, but it now turns out he will be sidelined significantly longer.
Due to the injury, Lewandowski will miss Bayern's Bundesliga top-of-the-table clash with RasenBallsport Leipzig this Saturday as well as both Champions League quarter-finals ties with Paris Saint-Germain.
Lewandowski has been in excellent form this season, finding the net 42 times in 36 appearances for Bayern.

Bayern confirm Boateng will leave this summer
Bayern Munchen sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed that Jerome Boateng will leave the club this summer.
The defender's contract is set to come to an end in the coming months, and he will not be offered an extension by the Bundesliga champions.
Salihamidzic called Boateng's now-imminent departure a "joint decision" as the centre-back now approaches his final few months with the club.
The German defender joined Bayern in 2011, making the move back to Germany after a one-season stint with Manchester City. He has gone on to make 354 appearances for the club, having been a constant presence throughout their domination of German football over the last decade.
During his time with the club, Boateng has won 8 Bundesliga titles while also claiming the DFB Pokal on 5 occasions. In addition, Boateng won 2 Champions League titles with the club and 2 Club World Cup titles.

Neymar extends PSG contract
Neymar has signed a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain that will take him through until 2025 at Parc des Princes, the club has confirmed.
The Brazilian, who moved to the Ligue 1 heavyweights from FC Barcelona in 2017 for a world-record transfer fee, has ended months of speculation over his future after renewing terms with Mauricio Pochettino's side.
It represents a major boon for the French outfit, who have dominated domestic football and seen increased European success since his arrival from Camp Nou 4 years ago.
The 29-year-old has played over 100 games for Les Parisiens since he made a €222 million switch from Spain to France, helping to significantly raise the profile of PSG as they looked to establish themselves among Europe's historic elite.
In his first 3 seasons, he helped the club achieve 2 domestic Trebles and a further double, winning the Ligue 1 title in each of those campaigns, while continuing to bolster their continental standing.
