Aguero signs new contract

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has signed a new one-year extension to his contract, which will keep him at the club until 2017.

Aguero, City's record signing after he joined from Atletico Madrid in 2011, has scored 47 goals from just 69 starts and has now committed his future to the club.

The Argentine said: "I'm very happy at City and I feel very appreciated. It's been barely 2 years since I've arrived and sometimes I feel like I've been here for all my life".

"I have a fantastic relationship with the fans, and that always reminds me of our title and that goal against QPR. I can never forget that moment."

"Now I am looking forward to next season and pushing hard to win the title again."

Skrtel open to transfer offers

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel would seriously consider his future at Anfield if he received an offer from elsewhere.

The Slovakia centre-back made just 4 Premier League starts in 2013 having fallen behind the now-retired Jamie Carragher in the plans of Brendan Rodgers.

Carragher's exit might have offered Skrtel, who arrived at Anfield in the reign of Rafael Benitez in 2008, the chance to regain a first-team place.

But Liverpool look set to sign Manchester City's Kolo Toure ahead of the conclusion of his contract and they are also being linked with Schalke star Kyriakos Papadopoulos.

Hughes gets 3-year Stoke deal

Mark Hughes has been confirmed as the new manager of Stoke City and has signed a 3-year contract.

The former Fulham, Manchester City, Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn Rovers manager was unveiled at an press conference at the club's Clayton Woods training ground.

The 49-year-old has been out of work since he was sacked by QPR in November and has succeeded Tony Pulis, who left the Potters by mutual consent after 7 years in charge last week.

The former Manchester United and Chelsea striker is hoping to restore his career after a difficult 11 months at Loftus Road.

He may find the club presents a similar challenge to that which he took on at Blackburn, where he impressed, and in a stable environment.

Hughes led Rovers to 3 successive top 10 Premier League finishes and 2 FA Cup semi-finals before leaving for City in 2008.

Yet despite Pulis' reputation for physical football and that some fans started to turn against him in his latter days at the club, he could still be tough act to follow.

Pulis guided the Potters into the top flight in 2008 and they have stayed there since, also reaching the FA Cup Final in 2011 and subsequently playing in Europa League.

City pair to earn new deals

Manchester City are planning to hold contract extension discussions with defenders Micah Richards and Pablo Zabaleta.

City have worked hard over recent months to tie key men down on fresh terms, with the likes of Yaya Toure and David Silva committing their long-term futures to the club.

The Blues intend to continue pressing ahead with those talks, with it important for them to keep the "core" of their squad intact.

Richards and Zabaleta are among those set to be presented with new deals, with the defensive duo considered to be important assets heading forward.

Ljungberg returns to Arsenal

Former Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg is returning to the club in an ambassadorial role.

The 36-year-old will return to the club as a figurehead in international growth, hoping to help the Gunners reach out to more fans around the globe. The former Sweden international midfielder will begin working with the club on a trip to Asia next week to promote the Gunners' preseason tour of the region.

Ljungberg was a member of the Arsene Wenger's historic 2003/2004 "Invincibles" Arsenal side that went through an entire Premier League season undefeated, and he was also on the losing end with the Gunners in the 2006 Champions League Final.

The Swede holds the distinction of being one of only 3 players in the history of the FA Cup to score in consecutive finals of the competition.

Denilson free to leave Arsenal

Denilson is free to leave Arsenal after cancelling his contract by mutal consent, according to the player's agent.

Denilson, who has spent the last 2 seasons on loan at Sao Paulo, had a year to run on his current deal, but both parties have agreed to a parting of ways.

The 25-year-old has found himself down the pecking order in Arsene Wenger's plans and the Frenchman agreed to loan him back to his homeland in the summer of 2011.

Wenger is now willing to let Denilson quit the club for good as he looks to reshape his squad ahead of next season.

Denilson's agent, Alexandre Soares, has confirmed the midfielder is free to leave Arsenal and that a number of clubs are weighing up moves for his services.

Denilson joined Arsenal from Sao Paulo in August 2006 and has made over 150 appearances for the club.

AS Roma confirm Stekelenburg deal

AS Roma's sporting director Franco Baldini has confirmed that he has concluded a deal with Fulham for Maarten Stekelenburg.

The Premier League side have long been linked with the Dutch international goalkeeper, who almost joined the Cottagers in January.

The deal failed to materialise on deadline day, but now Martin Jol has got his man with Fulham reportedly set to pay just over £4 million for the 30-year-old.

Baldini, who is being strongly tipped to become Tottenham's new technical director, revealed he was in England last week to seal a deal with the London outfit.

Martinez named new Everton manager



Roberto Martinez has been appointed as the new manager of Everton on a 4-year deal.

The Spaniard leaves Wigan Athletic after 4 years at the club after often drawing praise for his attacking, expansive style of football and he replaces David Moyes at Goodison Park.

Martinez guided Wigan to their first major trophy with a 1-0 win over Manchester City in last month's FA Cup Final, but the club were then relegated to the Championship for the first time since 2005 just 3 days later.

Nevertheless, the 39-year-old has often been touted with a move to one of the Premier League's bigger clubs, and will begin the task of building on Moyes' success.

Everton have been searching for a replacement since it was announced the Scot was to replace the retiring Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

Moyes spent 11 years at the Merseyside club and, although he never managed to secure a major trophy, drew plaudits for consistently achieving high league finishes on a relatively small budget.

Bendtner to leave Arsenal

Nicklas Bendtner has revealed that he expects to leave Arsenal within the next 2 weeks.

The 25-year-old striker joined the Gunners' academy at the age of 16 and, after working his way up through the club's youth structure, cemented himself firmly in Arsene Wenger's first team plans.

His best Premier League season for Arsenal came in 2008/2009, as he scored 9 league goals in just 17 starts for the London club.

However, Bendtner's form dropped off from that point onward, culminating in a disappointing season-long loan switch to Serie A with Juventus last term.

Sunderland confirm triple deal

Sunderland have confirmed the signings of new trio Valentin Roberge, Cabral and Modibo Diakite.

All three players will arrive at the Stadium of Light on free transfers at the start of July.

Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio is keen to reshape his squad after narrowly avoiding relegation from the Premier League last season and he has moved quickly to agree deals for Roberge, Cabral and Diakite.

Roberge has been plying his trade with Maritimo Funchal, while midfielder Cabral has also just ended his contract with FC Basel.

A number of clubs have been linked with Lazio defender Diakite, but Sunderland have won the race for the central defender.

Bale set to trademark logo

Gareth Bale could make up to £3 million per year if he manages to trademark his "Eleven of Hearts" goal celebration logo.

Bale has filed an application to the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) to trademark a logo which copies the goal celebration gesture he makes every time he finds the net, with a number 11 - his shirt number - inside the heart.

An independent tribunal will decide in the next 2 months whether he can trademark the logo. Should it give him the green light, the Tottenham Hotspur forward will then have a powerful icon which he can incorporate into his image rights.

That could stand to make him up to £3 million per year, according to Nigel Currie, director of sports marketing agency brand-rapport.

Bale first incorporated the heart sign in to his goal celebration in 2010. He revealed afterwards that he did it as a gesture to his childhood sweetheart Emma Rhys-Jones, with whom he had a daughter last year.

Details of Bale's application to trademark the logo were first published last month. The 23-year-old, who scored 31 goals for club and country last term, has applied to trademark the logo for use on clothing, footwear and headgear as well as jewellery.

Villa closing in on Luna deal



Aston Villa are reportedly closing in on the signing of Sevilla defender Antonio Luna.

Widespread reports in Spain claim Villa have agreed a fee with FC Sevilla for the left-back and that Luna is due for talks and a medical at Villa this week.

Luna spent last season on loan at Real Mallorca, but could not help the club avoid relegation from La Liga.

Villa manager Paul Lambert is keen to bolster his defensive options with Eric Lichaj having left Villa Park earlier this summer.

Luna will become Villa's 4th signing of a busy summer with Lambert having already snapped up Jores Okore, Aleksandar Tonev and Leandro Bacuna this month.

They are also on the verge of signing Denmark forward Nicklas Helenius.

Pennant agrees new Stoke deal

Jermaine Pennant has put pen-to-paper on a new one-year contract with Stoke City to put an end to speculation he was to leave Britannia Stadium.

The winger, who joined the Potters initially on a loan deal from Real Zaragoza in 2010, was due to leave the club at the end of the 2012/2013 season.

But Pennant has impressed new manager Mark Hughes who believes the 30-year-old can prove an attacking asset for next term.

Pennant has made more than 70 appearances for the club but fell out of favour last season, spending a 3-month loan spell with Championship side Wolves.

Carroll taking West Ham medical

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll is reportedly undergoing a medical with West Ham, ahead of a £15 million permanent transfer to Upton Park.

The England international spent last season on loan with the Hammers, where he scored 7 goals in 24 games.

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce revealed at the weekend a deal to bring the player to east London on a permanent contract was close.

And the 24-year-old is expected to secure a 6-year contract, with Liverpool receiving around £15 million for the player.

Kone completes Everton switch

Roberto Martinez has completed the first transfer of his Goodison Park reign after Arouna Kone signed a 3-year deal.

The Ivory Coast international striker has followed the Spaniard from Wigan Athletic after a fee, believed to be around £6.5 million, was agreed last week.

Martinez is also trying to tie up the signature of Antolin Alcaraz, another of his former Latics players, who is a free agent after his contract expired.

Kone, 29-year-old, scored 13 goals for Wigan last season despite spending a month on international duty with the Ivory Coast at the Africa Nations Cup. Despite his contribution, the Latics failed to avoid relegation from Premier League.

Wigan snap up Norwich striker Holt



Wigan Athletic have signed Norwich striker Grant Holt on a 3-year deal.

The 32-year-old, who was club captain at Carrow Road, scored 8 goals in 34 Premier League outings last season as Chris Hughton's side eased into mid-table.

A stunning debut campaign in the top flight saw the striker net 15 times and Wigan manager Owen Coyle is delighted to have struck the deal as he looks to get his side back into the Premier League.

After working his way up through the English Football League system, Holt will get a taste of continental action this season with Wigan set to compete in the Europa League.

Southampton sign Wanyama

Southampton have confirmed the arrival of midfielder Victor Wanyama from Celtic on a 4-year deal.

The Kenya international has reportedly cost the Premier League side £12 million, and becomes Mauricio Pochettino's second signing of the close-season following the acquisition of Dejan Lovren.

And Wanyama has thanked the south-coast club for handing him the opportunity to test himself in one of Europe's top leagues.

Wanyama has spent the last 2 campaigns in the Scottish Premier League after joining Celtic from Belgian club Beerschot in 2011.

He helped the Parkhead outfit to 2 SPL titles during his time in Scotland and also impressed during two forays into the Champions League.

Southampton will now hope that the 22-year-old can boost their prospects as they prepare for a second campaign back in the top flight of English football.

Fulham taken over by Shahid Khan

Fulham have announced that the club has been taken over by Pakistani-American businessman Shahid Khan.

Khan, who made his fortune in the automotive industry and also owns NFL franchise Jacksonville Jaguars, has assumed 100% control of the London club as of Friday.

And, having eradicated all debts in the process of his takeover, Khan has outlined his plans to ensure Fulham can continue to flourish the Premier League.

Mohamed Al Fayed's 16-year stint as Fulham chairman has come to a close as a result of the news, but the Egyptian believes he has sold to the right man.

"My time of serving as the custodian of Fulham Football Club would one day come to an end, and I feel that time has now arrived", he said.

"The time is right because I have found a very good man in Shahid Khan to accept the responsibility and privilege that I have enjoyed at Fulham since 1997."

"Fulham will be in very good hands with Shahid, whose success in business and passion for sport is very evident. I ask everyone who loves Fulham and our Craven Cottage home to welcome Shahid as he begins his journey as the next guardian of Fulham Football Club."

Fulham have been in Premier League since 2001, while their highest finish of 7th came during the 2008/2009 season.

Norwich complete Olsson signing

Norwich City have confirmed the arrival of Swedish defender Martin Olsson from Blackburn Rovers.

The 25-year-old has brought an end to his 7-year stay at Ewood Park in order to secure a return to the Premier League with Chris Hughton's side after the clubs agreed a fee on Wednesday.

And he has expressed delight at finally completing his move, while revealing that the Carrow Road club faced stiff competition for his signature.

Olsson, who made 132 appearances in total for Blackburn, has been capped on 15 occasions by Sweden.

Etihad Stadium are în prezent 47.500 de locuri, dar oficialii "cetăţenilor" vor ca în viitorul apropiat să poată intra la meciuri 60.000 de oameni. Totul este gândit să se desfăşoare foarte repede, urmând ca lucrările de mărire a capacităţii să nu blocheze accesul fanilor la meciurile de pe teren propriu.

Norwich City have confirmed the signing of Dutch international midfielder Leroy Fer from FC Twente on a 4-year deal.

The 23-year-old, who is Chris Hughton's 6th summer signing, scored 21 goals in 71 appearances for FC Twente after starting his career with Feyenoord.

Fer, who has 2 full caps, captained Holland at U17 and U19 levels and he was a key part of their European U21 Championship team which made it to the semi-finals earlier this summer, scoring twice during the group stages.

He joins Javier Garrido, Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, Nathan Redmond, Martin Olsson and Carlo Nash in boosting Hughton's options for the 2013/2014 Barclays Premier League season.

Altidore deal excites Di Canio

Paolo Di Canio is looking forward to unleashing his new striker Jozy Altidore on the Premier League this season.

The 23-year-old United States international signed a 4-year deal with the Black Cats on Tuesday as he completed his move to the Stadium of Light from AZ Alkmaar.

Altidore scored only once in 28 Premier League appearances for Hull City during a loan spell in 2009/2010 but he netted 31 times in all competitions for AZ last season.

He has already joined up with his new Sunderland team-mates at their pre-season training camp in Italy and featured in the second half of a practice match on Wednesday.

Di Canio told the club's official website: "Altidore is one of the top strikers in Europe. He only joined us on Tuesday but I'm very happy, curious and excited because I have a very good attacking side at the moment".

Gerrard signs new deal

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has penned an extension to his deal with the Merseyside club.

The 33-year-old began his professional career at Anfield in 1998, and is now believed to have agreed to stay with the club for a further 2 years.

Having confirmed his new contract on Monday, the Liverpool and England captain expressed delight at being able to prolong his career with his boyhood club.

Gerrard made his first-team debut in November 1998, coming on as a substitute in a Premier League meeting with Blackburn Rovers.

He has since gone on to make 629 appearances for Liverpool since, winning 2 FA Cups, 3 League Cups, a UEFA Cup and one UEFA Champions League during that time.

Gerrard has also earned 102 caps for England, scoring 19 goals and captaining them at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2012.

Spurs agree Soldado deal

Roberto Soldado is set to become a Tottenham Hotspur player after the north London club agreed a fee of reportedly €30 million with Valencia for the striker.

Soldado will move to White Hart Lane subject to a medical. The 28-year-old leaves Valencia after 3 seasons at Mestalla, where he scored 59 goals in 101 Liga appearances. Prior to that, Soldado had spells with Getafe, Osasuna and Real Madrid.

He has won 11 senior caps for his country, finding the net on 6 occasions. His most recent international outings came in the FIFA Confederations Cup in June.

Soldado will become Tottenham's third major summer signing following the acquisitions of Brazil midfielder Paulinho from Corinthians and Belgian international Nacer Chadli from FC Twente.

New Newcastle signing Loic Remy will miss the first game of the season against Manchester City.

Manager Alan Pardew confirmed on Sunday that the 26-year-old, who joined from QPR on a loan deal last week, had picked up a strain that will keep him out of the season opener on 19 Monday.
