Bailly to miss AFCON
Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has been ruled out of Ivory Coast's African Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign due to medial knee ligament damage, the Premier League club have confirmed.
Bailly started a first Premier League game for United since February in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Chelsea but was withdrawn in the 71st minute.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed after the match that the 25-year-old would not feature again for his club this season and the damage is severe enough to mean Bailly cannot take part in Ivory Coast's matches in Egypt when the 2019 continental tournament begins in June.
Ibrahim Kamara's side have been drawn alongside Morocco, South Africa and Namibia in Group D.
This year brings an historic edition of the AFCON, with the tournament expanded to 24 teams - up from 16 in previous editions - and with matches moved from January and February to the summer months.

Phelan named United assistant manager
Mike Phelan has agreed a deal to stay on as Manchester United's permanent assistant manager on a 3-year contract.
Phelan was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's "first port of call" to join him as his number 2 when he was appointed United caretaker manager in December and the Norwegian has been keen to get his future tied down beyond this season.
"I think he is fantastic at his job, assistant manager, I'm very pleased they have finally agreed", said Solskjaer ahead of Sunday's visit of Cardiff.
"I was a player under him, his knowledge, his experience and his demeanour because everyone likes speaking to him, discussing football with him."
"The players really respect him, they know what he can do and he has worked with the best."
"For me, I'm a young manager and Mick has more experience in a few areas than I have."
"Him being a United man plays a big part in it. The same with Mark Dempsey and Michael Carrick - we all care about the club and it is never going to be about anything but the club."
"It is about us getting the club back to where it belongs."
Herrera confirms United exit
Ander Herrera has confirmed he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season after bidding goodbye to the club in a video on social media.
Herrera's contract expires at the end of June and the 29-year-old is expected to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer after agreeing terms with the Ligue 1 champions.
Herrera initially joined United from Athletic Bilbao in 2014 and has since gone on to make 189 appearances for the club.
He won the Europa League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup during his time in Manchester, and was also named the club's Player of the Year for the 2016-2017 season.
Herrera confirmed his departure in a video released on Manchester United's official Twitter account.

James to undergo United medical
Daniel James will undergo a medical with Manchester United on Thursday ahead of his £18 million move from Swansea City, Sky Sports News understands.
United are close to completing a deal for the 21-year-old winger and Wales international, who has one-year left on his contract, as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to begin his rebuild of the club.
It is understood the initial fee is worth £15 million plus an additional £3 million in add-ons, with personal terms already agreed.
James has been with the Wales squad preparing for European qualifiers against Croatia (Saturday) and Hungary (Tuesday).
Mata to sign 2-year United contract
Juan Mata has agreed to sign a 2-year contract extension at Manchester United to end speculation on his future, say Diario Sport.
The 31-year-old's deal at Old Trafford expires at the end of June and he is currently available to speak to other clubs.
It is also claimed by the report that Mata will continue in a non-playing capacity at United once he hangs up his boots, with this contract possibly his last as a player.
It has been reported that the playmaker was wanted by FC Barcelona but the Catalan giants have had a change of heart and instead are focusing on signing players of a younger profile to rejuvenate their squad.
Mata has netted 45 goals across 218 first-team appearances for the Red Devils and has 10 goals from 41 international caps with Spain.
The playmaker initially moved to English football in 2011, joining Chelsea from Valencia for £23,5 million, before a £37 million transfer to Manchester United in January 2014.

United agree Wan-Bissaka fee
Manchester United and Crystal Palace have agreed a £50 million fee for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but personal terms have not yet been finalised.
The 21-year-old Palace defender will cost United £45 million plus £5 million in add-ons, which are understood to be based on appearances, and is set to travel to Manchester on Wednesday evening, before holding a medical on Thursday.
Wan-Bissaka is expected to sign a long-term contract at Old Trafford and would become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's second signing of the summer, following the addition of Daniel James from Swansea.
The England U21 international could become United's fifth most expensive signing of all-time behind Paul Pogba (£89 million), Romelu Lukaku (£76 million), Angel Di Maria (£60 million) and Fred (£52 million).
Wan-Bissaka had 3 years remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park and featured 39 times in all competitions last season as Palace finished 12th in the Premier League.
Rashford signs 4-year United contract
Marcus Rashford has signed a new 4-year contract at Manchester United.
The 21-year-old's new deal also contains the option for United to trigger a further one-year extension.
Rashford will earn around £200,000 per week with his new contract, Sky Sports News understands.
After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge in December, Rashford has featured regularly under the former United striker's starting line-ups and was named as the Premier League Player of the Month for January 2019.
Rashford, who made his debut for United in a Europa League game in February 2016, has scored 50 goals and made 26 assists in 184 appearances in all competitions for his hometown club.
The England international made his first Premier League start against Arsenal that same season, scoring twice in a 3-2 win at Old Trafford.
The academy product, who is now an England regular with 32 caps, has played for his boyhood team since the age of 7.
Pereira & Tuanzebe sign new Man United contracts
Andreas Pereira and Axel Tuanzebe have both signed new Manchester United contracts.
Pereira has signed a new 4-year contract with an option for a further year, while Tuanzebe has agreed a new 3-year deal with an option of an extra year.
Pereira, who made 22 appearances for United last season, says he is grateful of the faith manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shown in him.
Tuanzebe spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, making 30 appearances. He helped the club earn promotion with victory in the Sky Bet Championship play-off Final against Derby County.
Former United defender Evra announces retirement
Former Manchester United and Juventus defender Patrice Evra has announced his retirement from football.
The 38-year-old also played for AS Monaco, Nice and Olympique Marseille during a glittering 20-year playing career, which ended with a short spell at West Ham in 2018.
The defender won 21 major honours throughout his career as well as earning 81 caps for France.
Evra has revealed that he has already started preparations to become a coach and says he has the backing of legendary United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Evra started his career with Italian sides Marsala and Monza before 6 seasons with Nice and AS Monaco. His form at the latter attracted the interest of Ferguson, who brought him to Old Trafford in January 2006.
He went on to develop into one of Europe's best left-backs and enjoyed 7-and-a-half fruitful years with the club, winning 5 Premier League titles, 3 EFL Cups and the 2008 Champions League.
Evra left the Red Devils for Juventus in 2014 and won 2 Serie A titles before returning to France with Olympique Marseille.
But Evra's time there ended in controversy after he kicked one of his side's supporters during the warm-up of a Europa League tie against Vitoria Guimaraes in November 2017.
He was subsequently banned by UEFA for 7 months, returning to the Premier League to make 5 appearances for West Ham during the closing months of the 2017-2018 season.
Evra made his senior debut for France in August 2004 and went on to appear at 5 major tournaments for Les Bleus including the 2016 European Championships on home soil.
Bailly out for 4 to 5 months
Manchester United defender Eric Bailly will be out for 4 to 5 months after he was injured against Tottenham Hotspur in a pre-season game.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said after the friendly win over Kristiansund on Tuesday that Bailly had undergone knee surgery following the injury he sustained against Spurs in the International Champions Cup.
United agree fee for Maguire
Manchester United have agreed terms with Leicester City over the £80 million transfer of Harry Maguire to Old Trafford.
The 20-time English champions had been chasing the centre-back for the entire summer having curtailed plans to bring him to the club 12 months earlier, with the boyhood United fan having indicated some weeks ago that he was flattered with the club's interest in him.
But now they are set to pay a world-record for a defender to make Maguire a United player, pending the result of a medical. The fee exceeds the previous record of £75 million Liverpool paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk in January 2018.
The 26-year-old's status in the game was raised during England's run to the World Cup semi-finals in 2018, and his continued form for Leicester since arriving at the King Power Stadium in 2017 also caught United's eye.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been keen to add a top-level centre-back to his squad for some time, and Maguire was the club's number 1 target in that department.

Pogba & Martial missing for United
Manchester United will be without Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial for their home date with Leicester City, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed.
The Red Devils have seen two French stars pick up untimely knocks.
Martial sat out United's 1-1 draw with Southampton 2 weeks ago after tweaking his thigh, while Pogba was unable to link up with his country during the international break after damaging his ankle.
That means neither will be able to figure against the Foxes when Premier League action resumes on Saturday.
Pogba and Martial are not the only ones handing Solskjaer a selection headache, though, with Jesse Lingard and Aaron Wan-Bissaka having pulled out of the latest England squad through injury.
United are hopeful that both will be come into contention for an outing at Old Trafford, but Luke Shaw has been nursing a hamstring complaint, Diogo Dalot a hip problem and Eric Bailly is out until December with a knee issue.
