Vela out for 8 weeks
Real Sociedad will be without top scorer Carlos Vela for 8 weeks after the Mexican underwent knee surgery on Monday.
The Mexico international has been in fine form for David Moyes' side with 7 goals in La Liga.
However, Vela was substituted after 17 minutes of Sociedad's 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu and subsequent scans showed damage to his right knee.
Without Vela in attack, Moyes will rely on Imanol Agirretxe and Alfred Finnbogason.
However, the pair only have 2 goals between them in 30 league appearances this season.

Barragan agrees new Valencia contract
Valencia have announced defender Antonio Barragan has agreed a new contract that will keep him at the Mestalla until 2017.
The 27-year-old, a first-team regular for Valencia since moving from Real Valladolid in August 2011, has penned a new 2-and-a-half-year deal.
Barragan has made 18 La Liga appearances for Nuno Espirito Santo's side this season, helping Valencia climb to fifth in the league table.
Having started his career with FC Sevilla, Barragan joined Rafael Benitez at Liverpool in 2005, but failed to make an impression and soon returned to Spain with Deportivo La Coruna.
After 3 seasons at EL Riazor he moved to Valladolid, before making the switch to Valencia.

Ramos suffers torn hamstring
Real Madrid have been dealt a blow with the news that centre-back Sergio Ramos has torn the hamstring in his left leg.
The Spain international lasted just 9 minutes of Wednesday's 2-1 La Liga victory over FC Sevilla before being replaced by Nacho.
Ramos has subsequently undergone examinations that have confirmed the severity of his injury.
Ramos' injury provides a further defensive setback for Real ahead of Saturday's La Liga derby with rivals Atletico Madrid at Vicente Calderon.
Fellow centre-back Pepe has been absent for the past month with a rib injury, while full-back Marcelo is suspended - although Real hope to have the yellow card he picked up against Sevilla rescinded.

"Alves close to Barca exit"
Dani Alves' agent says the FC Barcelona full-back is close to agreeing a move to another club, with his contract at Camp Nou due to expire at the end of the season.
The 31-year-old has been linked with a host of clubs in recent months - French champions Paris Saint-Germain among them.
"We're close to reaching an agreement to sign for another club, negotiations are at an advanced stage", Alves' representative Dinorah Santa Ana Da Silva told Catalan radio station RAC 1.
"Dani is still available to Barca, but he won't be able to wait much longer."
Barca are currently the subject of a transfer ban over the signings of youth players and, as such, will not be able to add to their squad in the next window.

Camp Nou to host Copa del Rey Final
The Spanish Football Federation has confirmed FC Barcelona will face Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey Final in their own stadium, the Camp Nou, on 30 May.
Both sides had hoped for the competition's showpiece to be held at Santiago Bernabeu, home to Real Madrid, after they booked their places in the Final earlier this month.
Barca won their only previous Copa del Rey Final at Camp Nou in 1963, and are looking for a first cup success since 2012 - when they met Bilbao in the Final.
For the Basque side, who have won the tournament 23 times, it is a third Final in 6 years. They have been beaten by Barca in their last two finals.

Xavi closing in on Qatar move
FC Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez appears to be nearing towards a move to Qatari club Al Sadd, who on Saturday revealed the player was taking a tour of their facilities.
However, Al Sadd insisted there was no agreement as yet to sign the playmaker, who joined Barca back in 1991 aged 11 and who has won every major club trophy on offer including 3 Champions League titles.
Xavi was being linked with the move earlier this week in the Spanish press, and things seem to be gathering pace with Al Sadd confirming his arrival in the country in a statement on their website.
Al Sadd were founded in 1969, boast 2 AFC Champions League titles, and are currently second in the Qatar Stars League standings, 7 points behind leaders Lekhwiya.

Rodriguez to make Real return
Real Madrid forward James Rodriguez will make his return from a 2-month injury lay-off in Sunday's La Liga contest against Granada, head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed.
The Colombia international required surgery on a broken metatarsal sustained in Real's 2-1 victory against FC Sevilla on 4 February.
However, Rodriguez - who moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in a big-money switch from AS Monaco in July - rejoined training during the international break and will start on Sunday.

Ronaldo joins Real greats in 300 club
Cristiano Ronaldo moved to 300 goals for Real Madrid on Sunday as he scored 5 times in their 9-1 rout of Granada.
The Ballon d'Or holder registered an 8-minute hat-trick before half-time - the quickest treble of his Real career - and then added two more after the break at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Ronaldo's fifth goal - an injury-time header - took him to 300 goals for the club, making him the third player to achieve that feat after Real legends Raul Gonzalez and Alfredo Di Stefano.
Former Spain skipper Raul scored 323 goals in 741 games for Real, while Di Stefano's tally stands at 308 from 396 outings.
Ronaldo reached the 300 mark in an astounding 287 games, with 214 of those goals coming in La Liga. The Portugal captain has 60 to his name in the Champions League, as well as 21 in the Copa del Rey, 3 in the Supercopa de Espana and 2 in the European SuperCup.
Ronaldo now sits eighth in La Liga's all-time scoring charts, having overtaken Pahino, who scored 211 times in 278 games for Real, Celta Vigo and Deportivo La Coruna in the 1940s and 50s.

Muniain out for 6 months
Athletic Bilbao's Iker Muniain is set for 6 months on the sidelines after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.
The club initially announced that the forward had suffered a sprained left knee during Saturday's 2-0 La Liga defeat to FC Sevilla.
But, following an MRI scan on Tuesday, it has now been confirmed that Muniain will be out until at least October with the problem.
Additionally, tests have revealed midfielder Ander Iturraspe has torn his adductor muscle, although Bilbao have not yet said how long his recovery will take.
Athletic are eighth in La Liga, 11 points adrift of a UEFA Europa League place.

Ronaldo to face Eibar after yellow card rescinded
Cristiano Ronaldo is free to face Eibar for Real Madrid after his yellow card against Rayo Vallecano was rescinded.
The forward was booked for simulation in the second half of Real's 2-0 win at Rayo on Wednesday, despite clearly being fouled by Antonio Amaya in the penalty area when the game was scoreless.
However, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has agreed to remove the caution, freeing the Portugal international up to take on Eibar at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
The news comes as a boost to a Real side missing Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez through suspension.
Forward Gareth Bale appears likely to be rested ahead of Tuesday's Champions League quarter-finals first leg versus city rivals Atletico Madrid.
