RFEF confirms Real Madrid's disqualification from Copa del Rey
Real Madrid have been disqualified from the Copa del Rey after fielding the suspended Denis Cheryshev in the first leg of their round of 32 tie against Cadiz on Wednesday.
The Russia midfielder started and scored in the 3-1 victory despite being yet to serve a ban for receiving 3 yellow cards in last season's competition when on loan at Villarreal.
Cadiz submitted an official complaint to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) after the match, but Madrid insisted they had not been notified that the player was ineligible and were therefore not to blame.
However, the RFEF announced on Friday that Madrid have been expelled from the competition with immediate effect.

Espanyol have confirmed the appointment of Romanian Constantin Galca as their new head coach.
The Catalan club parted company with Sergio Gonzalez on Monday having won just 2 of their last 11 matches in all competitions, with Saturday's 1-0 loss at Celta Vigo leaving them 12th in La Liga.
The Romanian's first match in charge will see Levante visit the Power8 Stadium for the second leg of their Copa del Rey tie on Tuesday.

Atletico confirm Torres ankle injury
Fernando Torres' long wait for his 100th Atletico Madrid goal is set to continue, with the striker facing a spell on the sidelines due to an ankle injury.
Torres damaged his right ankle in training and is expected to miss Atletico's Copa del Rey second leg against Rayo Vallecano on Thursday.
Atletico revealed in a statement that Torres has undergone an MRI scan on the injured ankle, with no schedule yet set for his return to the squad.
Torres has scored just 2 La Liga goals in 16 appearances for Diego Simeone's men this season, the last of which came in a 2-0 win at Eibar in September.

Real Madrid confirm Bale calf injury
Real Madrid have confirmed Gareth Bale has suffered a muscle injury in his right calf.
The Wales international was forced off at half-time of Sunday's 5-1 win over Sporting Gijon after complaining of discomfort in his lower leg.
Former Tottenham Hotspur star Bale had further tests on the problem at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital and Madrid have released a statement to confirm "he has been diagnosed with soleus muscle injury in his right leg".
Initial reports in Spain have suggested Bale could miss up to 3 weeks of action as a result of the injury, although the club have simply stated his recovery progress will be continually assessed.
Madrid face Real Betis on Sunday before 3 more La Liga matches against Espanyol, Granada and Athletic Bilbao prior to the first leg of the Champions League last 16 tie with AS Roma on 17 February.

Cheryshev loaned to Valencia
Denis Cheryshev's desire to earn regular first-team football has resulted in the Real Madrid winger being loaned to La Liga rivals Valencia for the rest of the season.
Cheryshev made just 6 appearances for the Santiago Bernabeu giants this season, but had a sizeable impact on their campaign as his inclusion in December's Copa del Rey fixture against Cadiz saw Madrid kicked out of the competition.
The 25-year-old had been ineligible for the match due to a suspension carried over from last term, when he was on loan at Villarreal.
Marcelino's men were credited with an interest in bringing Chershev back to El Madrigal, while FC Sevilla were also keen to re-sign the 9-cap Russia international, who played for them in the 2013-2014 season.
But the Mestalla is Cheryshev's next destination, with club and player desperate to revive flagging fortunes this season.

Torres honoured to reach Atletico milestone
Fernando Torres is targeting the Liga title this season after netting his 100th Atletico Madrid goal in Saturday's 3-1 win over Eibar.
Torres struck in the final minute at Vicente Calderon to reach the milestone for a club he first joined as an 11-year-old.
Ever since scoring in the reverse fixture with Eibar back in September the century mark has been looming large for Torres and he finally reached it by turning home Luciano Vietto's late cross.
"The team has shown it has recovered after several games without a win", he was quoted as saying by AS after Atletico moved joint top.
"This win means we are in the title fight. This year must end with a title."
"It is an honour to have scored the 100th goal and to be among the great scorers of the club."
The win also marked Diego Simeone's 100th as coach, the Argentine reaching the landmark in his 159th league game in charge.

Oblak extends Atletico deal
Goalkeeper Jan Oblak has agreed a one-year contract extension at Atletico Madrid that will keep him at the club until 2021.
The Slovenia international arrived at the Vicente Calderon in 2014 from Benfica following Thibaut Courtois' return to parent club Chelsea and initially served largely as a back-up to Miguel Moya under Diego Simeone.
However, the 23-year-old has played every minute of Atletico's La Liga campaign this term, conceding a league-best figure of 11 goals.

Benzema to miss Malaga clash
Karim Benzema has been left out of the Real Madrid squad for Sunday's La Liga trip to Malaga.
Although the club failed to offer an explanation for the Frenchman's omission, reports in Spain suggest Benzema is struggling with a hip problem.
It means Zinedine Zidane will be without two-thirds of the famed BBC with Cristiano Ronaldo the only member of the trio fit for the trip to La Rosaleda - Gareth Bale is still absent with a calf injury.
Jese is, therefore, likely to start after coming off the bench to score in Madrid's 2-0 Champions League win at AS Roma in midweek.

Vicente Calderon to host Copa del Rey Final
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has confirmed the Copa del Rey Final between FC Barcelona and FC Sevilla will be played at Atletico Madrid's Vicente Calderon on 22 May.
There had been much debate over where the Final would be played, with Real Madrid apparently unwilling to allow their rivals to defend the competition at the Santiago Bernabeu despite Barca's apparent preference for the capital-based venue.
The Calderon and Valencia's Mestalla stadium were both mooted, with the RFEF confirming the former is to be used while the date is also pushed back.
The Final was originally scheduled for 21 May, but has been altered due to Sevilla's potential appearance in the Europa League Final on 18 May.

Real confirm hamstring injury for Benzema
Karim Benzema is set for a spell on the sidelines after Real Madrid confirmed the striker sustained an injury to his right hamstring in their derby defeat to Atletico.
Benzema was withdrawn at half-time on Saturday and reports in Spain suggest he could be out for between 3 and 4 weeks.
If that is the case, Benzema will miss La Liga matches against Levante, Celta Vigo, Las Palmas and FC Sevilla, as well as the Champions League last 16 second leg tie against AS Roma.
Benzema is now also facing a race against time to recover in time to face fierce rivals FC Barcelona in EL Clasico on 2 April at Camp Nou.

Bale & Modric to miss Levante trip
Zinedine Zidane has confirmed Luka Modric and Gareth Bale will miss Real Madrid's meeting with Levante on Wednesday.
Modric reportedly required stitches on a foot injury sustained in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to rivals Atletico Madrid and will sit out the trip to the east coast, with Borja Mayoral a possible replacement, suggesting Zidane will alter his approach.
Bale returned to training on Tuesday after over 6 weeks out with a calf injury, but Zidane has left him out his 19-man squad for the midweek clash.

Valverde signs new Athletic deal
Athletic Bilbao manager Ernesto Valverde has signed a new contract to keep him at San Mames until June 2017.
The 52-year-old has been in charge of the club since June 2013 and this week insisted he "knew nothing" of rumours linking him with Real Madrid.
Valverde guided Athletic to finishes of 4th and 7th in his first 2 seasons in charge, as well as leading them to the Copa del Rey Final in 2015, where they lost to FC Barcelona at Camp Nou.
This season, Athletic got the better of Barca over two legs to win the Supercopa de Espana - the Basque club's first trophy in 31 years.

Godin suffers hamstring injury
Diego Godin is facing a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a grade two hamstring injury in Atletico Madrid's Champions League meeting with PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.
The Uruguayan was replaced by Lucas Hernandez in the 89th minute of Atletico's second leg against the Dutch side after complaining of discomfort.
Diego Simeone's team eventually booked their place in the quarter-finals with an 8-7 penalty shoot-out victory, but it did not come without cost.
Godin underwent an MRI scan on Wednesday and the results showed the extent of his muscular injury.
No timeframe has been given for the 30-year-old's return.

Atletico confirm Gimenez hamstring injury
Atletico Madrid have confirmed Jose Maria Gimenez has suffered a hamstring injury, adding to their defensive fitness woes.
Diego Simeone had to make do without Diego Godin at Sporting Gijon on Saturday, after the experienced Uruguayan suffered a hamstring injury of his own that is expected to sideline him for up to 4 weeks.
Atletico lost the game 2-1, with FC Barcelona extending their lead at the top of La Liga to 9 points, despite blowing a 2-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Villarreal.
Like Godin, Gimenez suffered a grade two strain at EL Molinon, and can be expected to miss a similar chunk of time - in which Atletico will play FC Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals.
