Real confirm injury layoff for Toni Kroos
Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos will miss the next 2 weeks of action following a muscular injury picked up in Saturday's victory at Betis.
The details are outlined by Marca, who report that the club are confident the German international can return to action within 10-14 days after suffering a muscular injury in his left leg.
It is expected that the central midfielder will miss the league matches against both Real Valladolid and Levante with his aim now to return in time for the international break with his nation.
It is unclear at this stage if he will return in time to represent Germany in their upcoming matches against Turkey, Ukraine and Switzerland or if coach Joachim Low will not risk his fitness.

Ramos set to miss 6 weeks after undergoing knee surgery
Sergio Ramos has undergone surgery on his left knee, Real Madrid have confirmed.
Ramos has not played since the Supercopa de Espana semi-finals defeat to Athletic Bilbao on 14 January. He played 90 minutes in that fixture but had been struggling for fitness and on Saturday, Madrid confirmed he has had a surgical procedure on the meniscus of his left knee.
Spanish outlet COPE reported Madrid expect to be without their captain for 6 to 7 weeks.
If that is the case, Ramos would miss both legs of his side's Champions League last 16 tie with Atalanta. Madrid travel to Bergamo for the first leg on 24 February, with the return fixture at Santiago Bernabeu on 16 March.
Manager Zinedine Zidane confirmed after the win over Huesca that the operation had to be done as Ramos was on the limit of what he could cope with.
Zidane would also be without his key defender for the Madrid derby at the Wanda Metropolitano on 7 March, with his side looking to claw back a 7-point deficit to city rivals Atletico at the top of La Liga.
A 7-week absence would, however, see Ramos return in time for the next EL Clasico with FC Barcelona on 11 April.
With Madrid so far off the pace in La Liga - Atletico have 2 games in hand as well as their huge lead - fans will no doubt be concerned that 2020-2021 could prove an underwhelming end to the Ramos era at Madrid.

Suarez breaks Ronaldo record
Luis Suarez's excellent start to life at Atletico Madrid continued on Monday night as he broke a record set by Cristiano Ronaldo with his goals against Celta Vigo.
The Uruguay international struck on the stroke of half-time at the Wanda Metropolitano to pull Atletico level with the visitors, who went ahead through a Santi Mina goal just 13 minutes into the match.
The 34-year-old struck again early in the second half to give the home team the lead and put them on course to extend their lead at the top of La Liga.
The goals take Suarez's goal tally for Diego Simeone's men up to 16 in just 17 La Liga appearances since making the switch from FC Barcelona last summer.
The former Ajax and Liverpool star is the first player to score 16 goals in his first 17 games for a team in the Spanish top flight in the 21st century.
The previous best of 15 goals in the same number of matches was set by Cristiano Ronaldo during his stunning start to his successful spell at Real Madrid from Manchester United in 2009.

Luka Modric has signed a new one-year deal at Real Madrid and will spend a 10th season at Santiago Bernabeu.
The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, who swapped White Hart Lane for Bernabeu in 2012, has enjoyed a successful 9 seasons in the Spanish capital, winning 12 major honours for Los Blancos including 4 Champions Leagues.
The veteran playmaker, 35-year-old, has played 48 times for Zinedine Zidane's side this season and featured in all 4 of Real's Champions League quarter-finals and semi-finals ties against Liverpool and Chelsea.
Modric and Real Madrid's campaign was unsuccessful in comparison to previous ones under Zidane with the Spanish club having failed to win a trophy for the first time since the 2009-2010 season.
Local rivals Atletico Madrid pipped them to the La Liga title and won the Spanish top flight by a 2-point margin.
The 2018 Ballon D'or winner helped his national team Croatia to the World Cup Final 3 years ago and was selected by manager Zlatko Dalic for their European Championship campaign this summer where they face England and Scotland in Group D.

Real Madrid confirm Ramos departure
Sergio Ramos is leaving Real Madrid, it has been confirmed.
The club have announced a press conference will be held on Thursday to bid farewell to the defender.
The centre-back's contract expires at the end of June and although there had been reports the club were willing to give him an extension if he accepted a pay cut.
But the 35-year-old has decided to leave the Santiago Bernabeu after 16 years.
The Spain international made 21 appearances in all competitions for Madrid in the 2020-2021 season as his side finished second in La Liga and reached the Champions League semi-finals.
The Madrid captain was kept out of action for large spells of the campaign due to injuries.
He scored 2 goals in La Liga and another 2 in the Champions League.
Ramos joined the capital club from FC Sevilla in 2005.
He has played over 670 games for the club and won 5 La Liga titles and the Champions League 4 times.

Fernandez extends Real Madrid contract
Real Madrid have extended Nacho's contract through to the summer of 2023 as questions continue to be asked of Raphael Varane's future at Santiago Bernabeu.
A 31-year-old centre-half has agreed to prolong his association with Los Blancos, with a home-grown talent remaining a one-club man.
That is good news for Real as they are left sweating on the options that Carlo Ancelotti will have to pick from at the heart of his back 4 in 2021-2022.
Fernandez was previously tied to terms until 2022, but has seen that agreement extended by a further 12 months.
As an experienced member of the Blancos squad, he will have an important role to play heading forward.
A product of Real's famed academy system has taken in 233 appearances for the club so far, with 2 La Liga titles and 4 Champions League crowns claimed along the way.

Simeone extends Atletico Madrid contract
Diego Simeone has extended his deal as Atletico Madrid head coach and will remain in charge until June 2024.
Simeone's backroom staff, including Oscar Ortega, Pablo Vercellone, Nelson Vivas and Hernan Bonvinvini have also signed new 3-year deals with the club.
The Argentine led Atletico to their 11th La Liga title in May as they finished on 86 points, 2 more than second place Real Madrid.
Simeone originally signed for Atletico in 2011 following spells at various clubs in his native Argentina as well as with then-Serie A side Catania.
He spent 3 years at Atletico as a player and stood out as the La Liga club won a domestic double in 1996.
Simeone won the club the Europa League title in his first season in charge thanks to a 3-0 defeat of Spanish rivals Athletic Bilbao in the Final in May 2012, before securing the UEFA SuperCup with a 4-1 win over Chelsea the following August.
In May 2014, he led Atletico to their first La Liga title in 18 years thanks to a 1-1 draw at title contenders FC Barcelona on the final day of the season, but missed out on the Champions League title the following week to Real Madrid.
2 years later he took Atletico to another Champions League Final against their cross-city rivals in Milano, but this time lost out in the penalty shoot-out as Cristiano Ronaldo netted the crucial spot-kick.
But he was able to lead the club to more European glory as in 2018 they won another Europa League title with a 3-0 win over Olympique Marseille in the Final, as well as the following European SuperCup against Real Madrid in extra time.

Gimenez renewes with Atletico
Jose Maria Gimenez has renewed his contract with Atletico Madrid until the summer of 2025 according to a club statement.
The 26-year-old Uruguayan joined the club back in 2013 at just 18, playing his role as Atletico won their first league title under the leadership of Diego Simeone that season.
Gimenez became more and more important as the years passed, playing his 100th game for the club in October of 2017.
Today, on the eve of the 2021-2022 campaign, he's at 217, and has been one of Atletico's 4 captains since 2019-2020.
As well as La Liga, he's also been part of teams to have lifted the Europa League and the European SuperCup.

Courtois signs new 5-year contract
Thibaut Courtois has signed a new 5-year contract at Real Madrid until the summer of 2026.
Courtois joined Real from Chelsea in summer 2018 for £35 million, having previously spent 3 years on loan with their city rivals Atletico.
He helped them to win the La Liga title in the 2019-2020 campaign, so far his only major trophy at Santiago Bernabeu.
The Belgian goalkeeper's move to Madrid was long expected before he finally made the switch on the Premier League's summer transfer deadline day in 2018, and was not without controversy as he had previously won the title with Atletico, whose fans were especially unhappy at the deal.
However, following that acrimony and a shaky start, Courtois has gone on to establish himself as clear number 1 for Los Blancos, making 130 appearances in all competitions and keeping 52 clean sheets.

Benzema signs new 2-year Real Madrid contract
Karim Benzema has signed a new 2-year deal at Real Madrid to continue leading the line as the club's number 9.
The France international forward was announced as having penned an extension to his current contract, keeping him at Santiago Bernabeu until summer 2023.
It is understood the 33-year-old striker will now have a €1 billion release clause, seemingly ensuring the remaining years of his top-level playing career will be spent in Madrid.
He is the 6th first-team player to sign a new Madrid contract this summer, following Luka Modric, Nacho Fernandez, Daniel Carvajal, Lucas Vazquez and Thibaut Courtois.
His new deal gives Benzema a chance to continue setting records and landmarks as he has ever since moving to Madrid from Olympique Lyon 12 years ago, in the summer of 2009.

Atletico sign Matheus Cunha
Matheus Cunha has officially joined Atletico Madrid from Hertha Berlin according to a club statement.
The Brazilian forward has signed a 5-year contract at Wanda Metropolitano, and has been described as a versatile attacker who can function as a centre-forward, an attacking midfielder and a winger.
Born in Joao Pessoa, Cunha came through the youth system at Coritiba before heading to Europe with Zion in 2017.
He registered 10 goals and 8 assists in his sole season in Switzerland, after which he headed for Germany with Leipzig. There, he spent 2 years, before switching to Hertha. He scored 13 goals and contributed 10 assists for them.
Sevilla sign Delaney
Thomas Delaney has joined FC Sevilla from Borussia Dortmund, the club have announced in an official statement.
Delaney is Sevilla's 6th signing of the transfer window, and brings a wealth of experience having represented his native Denmark 60 times.
He comes to Andalusia having spent the previous 3 years with Dortmund, and has signed a 4-year deal with Sevilla.
Sevilla finished 4th in La Liga last season, 15 points clear of fifth place Real Sociedad, and remained in the fight for the title until the bitter end.

Correa signs new contract
Angel Correa has agreed a new contract with Los Rojiblancos to extend his stay following more than 6 years at the club.
Correa has already racked up 214 La Liga appearances, scoring 39 times, and after a brace during Atletico Madrid's win over Rayo Vallecano on the weekend, he has been rewarded with new terms.
Atletico announced today that Correa has signed a deal that will extend his stay at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2026.
Correa has not always been a regular starter, but he has proven himself more than useful this season, scoring 7 times across all competitions.
According to Fabrizio Romano, his form has been enough to draw transfer interest from England during this window, but he has no interest of leaving Atleti.
