Burdisso faces 6 months out
Nicolas Burdisso could miss the rest of the season after being stretchered off for Argentina on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old picked up a knee injury in a collision with FC Porto's James Rodriguez in his nation's 2-1 win over Colombia and will now have tests to determine the extent of the knock.
The South American centre-back may is thought to have picked up ligament damage in the World Cup qualifier and is set to be examined further before flying back to Europe.
A lengthy lay-off would be a blow for Luis Enrique's side, which is 7th in Serie A, 7 points behind leaders Udinese.
Burdisso, who joined AS Roma from Inter Milano in 2009, has made nearly 100 appearances for AS Roma, including starting Roma's last game against Novara, which they won 2-0.

Morimoto to miss a month
Takayuki Morimoto has undergone a right-knee operation which will rule him out of action for 3 to 4 weeks.
The operation was performed on the Japanese international's lateral meniscus at the San Gaudenzio Hospital on Friday.
Along with Morimoto, defender Massimo Paci also underwent a knee operation on Friday.
The newly promoted club sit second last in Serie A, having won just one game from their opening 10 fixtures.
Morimoto, who joined Novara from Catania in the off-season, has made 8 appearances this term, scoring twice.

Guidolin lambasts Udinese attitude
A 'disappointed and bitter' Francesco Guidolin bemoaned Udinese's lack of humility after their 2-0 loss to Parma on Sunday.
Udinese had a chance to take the outright lead in Serie A with victory at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.
"The difference was in humility, which is the fundamental quality for every team and man," Guidolin said.
"Parma did well to remain humble."
"It was clear this game would be decided by individual incidents, but I am disappointed and bitter, as I thought I'd see my team with a different attitude."
A second defeat in four matches leaves Udinese fourth, one point behind leaders Juventus, who have played one match fewer than Guidolin's side.
Udinese finished fourth last term, earning a chance of Champions League qualification, but Guidolin is adamant his team have no automatic right to repeat the feat this season.
"With performances like this, Udinese cannot fight for the top-six places," he said.
"The leading teams do not play like this."
"I've said from the start we are different to last season."
"We have to aim low, because this is a dangerous campaign for everyone. If you think outside your real dimension, you’re in trouble."
Parma coach Franco Colomba was thankful his team's adventurous approach paid dividends, with a second win in three matches lifting the club up to 10th on the table.
"We don’t make distinctions when preparing for matches, as quite simply everyone in Serie A is tough, so we face each opponent the same way," Colomba said.
"You can tell that we take on everyone with open and attacking football, which is why we so rarely draw."
Colomba was relieved his team were able to withstand a period of intense Udinese pressure, and knows he can rely on the star men Biabiany and Giovinco to produce when it matters.
"In those five minutes when Antonio Floro Flores and Antonio Di Natale tested us, there were concerns, but we managed to get the measure of them and turn the situation in our favour," he said.
"I saw a solid squad with the right humility and desire to do well. That is what’s needed to support our diamonds, Giovinco and Biabiany. They are our crown jewels."

Del Piero poised for 700th game
Italy's most illustrious player Alessandro Del Piero could make his 700th professional club appearance on Saturday when joint leaders Lazio and Juventus clash at Olimpico.
Both teams have 22 points although Juventus, who defend Serie A's only unbeaten record, have played 10 games to Lazio's 11.
Del Piero has played only a bit part this season, the 36-year-old often making late cameo appearances as coach Antonio Conte rebuilds the side following two successive 7th place finishes.
The former Italy forward, who played 103 times for his country, made his first 14 club appearances with Padova in 1992 but the rest have been with Juve.
Only Paolo Maldini, with 859 appearances, has played more.
Del Piero, who announced this week that he intends to move at the end of the season, said he had mixed emotions.
"I suffer on the bench but as captain I am delighted with the good run of form by the team", he told reporters.
"It's such a great time with Juventus at the top of Serie A that I don't see why I should think about my future right now."
Juve are enjoying their best start to a season since the Calciopoli match-fixing scandal when they were stripped of the 2005 and 2006 titles and relegated to Serie B.
Both teams were eager to play down the importance of Saturday's match.
Lazio are also wary of a re-run of last season when they led the table early before fading to finish fifth.
Eduardo Reja's team have been less than thrilling in some matches and were lucky to come away from Napoli last week with a goalless draw.

Osvaldo facing 10 days ban
Pablo Daniel Osvaldo faces a 10-day suspension after allegedly punching team-mate Erik Lamela in the face.
According to Il Messaggero, the incident took place in the aftermath of Roma's 2-0 defeat at Udinese, with Osvaldo lashing out at the youngster following an angry exchange.
The two players reportedly settled their differences in training on Sunday, but Osvaldo can nevertheless expect a hefty fine and a 10-day ban from the capital club.
Coach Luis Enrique could decide on further punishment for the former Espanyol forward too.
The incident was allegedly linked to the decision by Lamela to shoot when Osvaldo was in support in the latter stages of the defeat, which leaves AS Roma on just 17 points in 6th place after 12 matches.

Cavani blow for Napoli
Napoli have been rocked by the news that Edinson Cavani will sit out their Serie A showdown with Juventus on Tuesday.
The Uruguay striker - scorer of 9 goals in all competitions for Napoli this campaign - suffered a tibia injury in last Tuesday's Champions League win over Manchester City and aggravated the problem in his side's league clash with Atalanta on Saturday.
Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri was prepared to give Cavani up until just a few hours before kick-off at San Paolo to prove his fitness for the Serie A side.
But, having woken up on Tuesday still feeling pain in his ankle, the player was forced to pull out of the squad for the visit of table-topping Juve.
Cavani's injury enforced absence from the starting line-up is likely to result in a recall for Goran Pandev, who has yet to score for Napoli since arriving on loan from Inter Milano in the off-season.
In better news for Napoli, influential midfielder Gokhan Inler has been passed fit to face Juve.

Forlan on track for Inter comeback
Inter Milano has received some welcome news with striker Diego Forlan nearing a comeback from injury.
The Uruguayan has been on the sidelines since October when he suffered a muscular problem while on international duty.
However, the Nerazzurri have announced that Forlan has returned to the training pitch and is close to making his comeback.
Forlan featured in a training game on Wednesday without any significant problems before continuing with an individual practice session, although he remains in doubt for Saturday's match at home against third place Udinese.
The 32-year-old joined Inter from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window but has so far been unable to make an impact due to injury, making only 5 appearances and scoring just one goal.

Cavani looks to repeat heroics

Edinson Cavani believes his team can replicate last season's performance that saw them finish third in Serie A.
The 24-year-old, who scored a brace in Napoli's impressive 4-2 win over Lecce at San Paolo on Saturday, said the only way is up for Walter Mazzarri's men but that they must carry on picking up points in order to bear the fruits of a successful season once more.
"We had a great first half, but in the second we had some moments of carelessness", Cavani told Sky Sports Italia.
"However, we have shown to have the strength to carry on from last season."
"What counts is the result of my team and not my personal success. But if the team performs well while I also score goals, then I'll enjoy the same satisfaction as last year."
"We must continue to win against all the teams in order to return to the top."
Napoli's success in 2010/2011 saw them rewarded with a Champions League berth and they currently sit second in Group A, with victory over Villarreal on Wednesday ensuring progress to the knockout stages of the tournament.
"I'll start preparing for Villarreal tomorrow. It is a game that we must treat as a final", he said.
Napoli move up to fifth in the Serie A standings following the victory.

Vucinic out until New Year
Mirko Vucinic will miss his scheduled return to former club AS Roma on Monday after being ruled out for 3 weeks through injury.
Vucinic, who joined the Bianconeri in the summer after 5 seasons in the Italian capital, sustained a tear in his right thigh muscle during Sunday's 2-0 win over Cesena.
He was replaced by Alessandro del Piero on 56 minutes, only for the veteran forward to himself be withdrawn fewer than 10 minutes later after sustaining a head injury that required 8 stitches and a night in hospital.
Montenegro captain Vucinic, 28-year-old, will also miss Thursday's Coppa Italia clash with Bologna and Serie A fixtures at home to Novara and away to Udinese.
He is not expected to return to action until the New Year, following Italian football's winter break.

Genoa sack Malesani
Genoa have sacked coach Alberto Malesani and will replace him with Pasquale Marino, the mid-table Serie A club announced on Thursday.
Sitting 10th in the league, Genoa slumped to a crushing 6-1 loss to Napoli on Wednesday, signalling the end of Malesani's time in charge.
It marks the 10th coaching change in Italy's top flight since August, with Marino set to sign a 2-and-a-half year deal with the club.
Genoa president Enrico Preziosi told Sky Sport Italia Marino was "signing the contract now" and said the loss to Napoli forced his hand with Malesani.

AS Roma suffer Osvaldo blow
AS Roma were dealt a blow ahead of Sunday's return to action against 12th place Chievo when top scorer Pablo Osvaldo was ruled out for 2 months.
Days after striker Marco Borriello left for Juventus in the January transfer window, Osvaldo, who has struck 7 goals since signing in the off-season, suffered a thigh strain in training.
Roma, who finished off 2011 with 2 victories on the road, against Napoli and Bologna, are also missing playmaker David Pizarro who has returned to his native Chile because of "serious family problems", according to a statement on the club's website.

Napoli keep Maggio for 2 more years
Christian Maggio has put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him at Champions League hopefuls Napoli until June 2015.
The 29-year-old, capped 14 times, joined Napoli from Sampdoria in 2008 and is a key member of Walter Mazzarri's side, helping them qualify for the Champions League last 16 this season despite a difficult qualifying group including Bayern Munchen, Manchester City and Villarreal.
"Maggio will be a Napoli player until 2015 and soon we will also announce a new deal for Hamsik", announced club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
The full-back, whose previous contract was due to expire in 2013, Maggio has scored 15 goals in 105 Serie A appearances for the Partenopei.
Napoli will host Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie on 21 February before travelling to London for the return on 14 March.
