Destro handed 4-match suspension
Mattia Destro has been suspended for 4 matches after appearing to strike Cagliari's Davide Astori.
The incident, which was missed by match referee Davide Massa and his fellow officials, occurred in the 33rd minute of the Serie A contest at Stadio Sant'Elia on Sunday.
Destro scored a hat-trick in Roma's 3-1 triumph and has now netted 7 goals in his last 5 matches.
But Roma's remote title chances will be further blighted by Destro's absence after a video review of the clash between the 23-year-old and defender Astori revealed wrongdoing on his part.
Serie A's governing body have handed him a 3-game ban and an additional one-game sanction for the number of yellow cards he has accumulated following a caution 3 minutes before half-time in Sardinia.
Destro has scored 13 goals for AS Roma this season and is considered to have an outside hope of place in Italy's squad for the World Cup in Brazil.
Lazio lose Klose to injury
Lazio's Serie A run-in has been dealt a blow with the news that Miroslav Klose has been ruled out for 4 weeks with a hamstring injury.
The German is Lazio's top-scoring striker this season with 7 goals in the league, but he may have played his last game of the season after suffering the injury.
Klose's last appearance for Lazio came in their 3-2 victory over Parma at the end of March. He was not involved in their win over Sampdoria last weekend and the club have confirmed a hamstring problem has been identified.
Uruguayan midfielder Alvaro Gonzalez is also set for a spell on the sidelines with a muscle injury, and he too is expected to be out for at least a month.
Rossi returns to training
Fiorentina striker Giuseppe Rossi has returned to training after more than 3 months out with a knee injury.
Italy international Rossi has been unavailable since January when he suffered ligament damage in his right knee in a Serie A clash with Livorno.
Fiorentina had been hopeful of having the forward available for the club's Coppa Italia Final with Napoli on 2 May, and that may now be possible after he came through full training on Tuesday.
Rossi's return will also be a boost for Italy coach Cesare Prandelli ahead of the World Cup in Brazil later this year.
Prandelli has previously claimed he will give Rossi every chance to prove his fitness ahead of the tournament in Brazil.
Fiorentina currently sit 4th in Serie A and look set to claim a spot in next season's Europa League.

Inter stalwart Zanetti confirms retirement
Former Argentina international Javier Zanetti has confirmed he is to retire at the age of 40 after spending 19 seasons with Inter.
The versatile defender has struggled with injury of late and, having made just 4 starts for Inter this season, had been reported to be calling it a day at the end of the campaign.
Inter president Erick Thohir stated Zanetti would become "part of the management" next season and the 5-time Serie A winner on Tuesday confirmed his decision to retire and take up the role of sporting manager at Meazza.
The former Argentina international, who joined Inter from Banfield in 1995, has been unable to fully recover from an Achilles injury and has now opted to call time on his career.
As well as 5 Serie A winners' medals, Zanetti also won the Champions League and the Coppa Italia 4 times during his playing days at Inter.
Pjanic signs new deal
Bosnia international Miralem Pjanic has finalised his new contract with AS Roma, which seems him committed to the club until 2018.
The attacking midfielder has been one of the stand-out performers in Serie A this season and had been linked with a big-money summer switch.
The likes of FC Barcelona and Manchester United were rumoured suitors of the 24-year-old, but he has now put the prospect of a summer move to bed with his signing of a new long-term deal.
Cambiasso & Milito set to leave Inter
Inter Milano's sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed Esteban Cambiasso and Diego Milito are to leave the club at the end of the season.
Both players had been tipped to depart Meazza after coming to the end of their contracts, with Cambiasso recently suggesting that he was not likely to be offered fresh terms.
Inter owner Erick Thohir looks set to splash the cash in the close-season, with Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic due to arrive, and a host of other big names linked with a switch.
With incoming players likely ahead of next season, Ausilio confirmed the pair are set to leave, although he hinted that Cambiasso could return in a non-playing capacity.
Ambrosini leaves Fiorentina
Massimo Ambrosini has announced that he has left Fiorentina after just a single season with the Serie A club.
The veteran midfielder made 21 league appearances for the Stadio Artemio Franchi outfit after calling time on his 18-year AC Milan career at the end of the 2012/2013 campaign.
However, in a press conference on Tuesday, Ambrosini confirmed that he would not be spending a second season in Florence.
Domizzi agrees new Udinese deal
Udinese full-back Maurizio Domizzi has agreed an extension to his contract with the Serie A side that will see him stay until 2016.
The 33-year-old has been at Stadio Friuli since 2008 and has been rewarded after another consistent season for Francesco Guidolin's side.
Domizzi's previous deal had one year remaining but Udinese have been quick to tie him down for longer, with the club releasing a statement on Thursday to confirm the new agreement.
Guidolin used the experienced defender 26 times in Serie A this season as Udinese finished 13th.
Domizzi was signed from Napoli having previously played for Sampdoria, while he has also spend time on loan at Modena, Brescia and Ascoli.
Porto announce Iturbe sale to Verona
FC Porto have confirmed that Hellas Verona have exercised their right to complete the permanent signing of forward Juan Manuel Iturbe.
The 20-year-old joined the Serie A club on loan in August with an option for his deal to be made permanent for a fee of €15 million, which Verona have now agreed to pay.
Iturbe made a positive impression with Verona as the club achieved a 10th place finish, scoring 8 goals in 33 appearances.
Castan signs new Roma deal
Leandro Castan has put pen-to-paper on a new 4-year contract at AS Roma.
Brazil international defender Castan was a key member of a Roma team who finished second in Serie A last season - conceding just 25 goals in the process - starting all but two of their top flight fixtures.
And the 27-year-old, whose previous contract still had 2 years left to run, has been rewarded with a fresh deal that will keep him in the Italian capital until June 2018.
Castan joined AS Roma from Corinthians in 2012.
Mauri signs Lazio extension
Lazio have announced midfielder Stefano Mauri has signed a new one-year deal with the Serie A club.
The 34-year-old was due to be out of contract next month after 8-and-a-half seasons in the Italian capital.

Garcia signs extended Roma deal
Rudi Garcia has signed a lengthy contract extension at AS Roma, the club have confirmed.
The Frenchman led the club to second place in Serie A in the 2013/2014 campaign, and automatic qualification for the Champions League.
Garcia's previous deal was due to expire at the end of next season, but his new terms mean he is set to remain at Stadio Olimpico until June 2018.
Former Lille coach Garcia joined AS Roma last June and got off to a superb start, guiding the team to 10 consecutive victories at the beginning of the season.
Roma eventually finished 17 points behind Juventus, despite not tasting defeat in the league until a 3-0 reverse at the hands of Antonio Conte's champions in January.
Empoli promoted to Serie A
Empoli have been promoted to Serie A after seeing off Pescara to win 2-0 at Stadio Carlo Castellani.
A second half own goal from Federico Di Francesco put them in front after 70 minutes before Francesco Tavano doubled their lead just 4 minutes later.
The Tuscan club have competed in the second tier since suffering relegation in 2008, but victory over Pescara on Friday night saw them finish the Serie B season behind only champions Palermo.
Latina, Cesena, Modena, Crotone, Bari and Spezia will now battle it out for the third and final promotion place through a new 6-club play-off system.
Inter secure full Icardi ownership
Inter Milano have come to an agreement with Sampdoria that sees the club acquire full ownership of striker Mauro Icardi.
The two Serie A clubs previously co-owned the 21-year-old, with Icardi spending last season at Meazza.
And, after a campaign that saw him score 9 goals in 22 league appearances, Inter have moved quickly to sign the forward outright.
Icardi made his first-team debut for Sampdoria in May 2012 having signed for the club from FC Barcelona in January 2011.
Pirlo pens new Juve contract
Andrea Pirlo has put pen-to-paper on a 2-year contract extension at Juventus.
The playmaker's previous deal had been due to expire at the end of the month, but he has now committed his future to the Italian champions until June 2016.

Lazio buy full rights to Candreva
Lazio have purchased the full rights to Antonio Candreva and announced a deal is set to be completed for Dusan Basta.
Candreva was co-owned by former club Udinese, and had been linked with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, though Lazio president Claudio Lotito this week ruled out an exit for the Italy international.
The 27-year-old - who has been at Stadio Olimpico since January 2012 - has now been bought outright by the Rome outfit.
Candreva is currently in Brazil where he is a member of Italy's World Cup squad.
When he returns he is likely to be joined by Basta, with Lazio announcing that a deal to bring the 29-year-old from Udinese is imminent.
Cesena promoted to Serie A
Cesena are back in the Serie A after a 2-year absence, after their 4-2 promotion play-off win over Latina on Wednesday.
The northern Italian club won the 2-legged tie on aggregate, with a pair of 2-1 victories - the latest of which came at Latina's Stadio Domenico Francioni.
Cesena are back in the Italian top flight for the first time since the 2011/2012 season, while Latina's bid for a first ever season in the Serie A was denied.
Juventus lose Barzagli for 3 months
Juventus will be without Andrea Barzagli for the start of their Serie A title defence after a foot injury ruled him out for 3 months.
The central defender was a regular fixture for Antonio Conte's men last season as the club wrapped up a third consecutive league triumph and reached the Europa League semi-finals.
Barzagli's form during his 33 appearances earned him a starting spot in Cesare Prandelli's Italy side at the World Cup, the 33-year-old playing all 3 matches as they were eliminated at the group stages.
Mazzarri pens new Inter deal
Inter Milano coach Walter Mazzarri has signed a one-year extension with the club which keeps him at Meazza until 2016.
The Italian moved to Inter from Napoli last summer and guided the Nerazzurri to fifth in Serie A and a place in the Europa League.
Although the campaign was a vast improvement on the ninth place finish the season before which saw the dismissal of Andrea Stramaccioni, Inter still finished 18 points adrift of a Champions League spot, and Mazzarri has vowed to return the club back to the higher echelons of the European game.
Inter sign Taider outright
Inter have completed the full purchase of midfielder Saphir Taider, with Lorenzo Paramatti making a permanent move to Bologna.
Taider arrived from the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara prior to last season, making 26 appearances in his debut campaign for the Milano club.
He scored one goal in Serie A and another in the Coppa Italia with Inter having now opted to buy out Genoa's share in the player.
