Van der Vaart completes Real Madrid move
Rafael van der Vaart is official Real Madrid's fifth Dutch player.
Real Madrid reportedly pay around €13 million for the player, with SV Hamburg earning an additional fee for possible successes in the coming season. The total fee therefore could increase to €15 million.
Van der Vaart could not hide his enthusiasm in the statement issues on his official website: "As everybody might know I have always wanted to move to Spain, because I have a strong bond with that country. Now I'm going to play for Real Madrid... it's a dream come true!"
The midfielder, who began his career at Ajax Amsterdam before becoming a key player at German side Hamburg, also thanked his current employer:
"Looking back at the last couple of years, I'm extremely happy that I've had the chance to experience playing for Hamburg. No club and no set of fans will treat you with more hospitality than they do! Thanks very much for that."
The player went on to say that the presentation is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
