AS Roma close in on new right-back

AS Roma director Walter Sabatini has revealed that the club are close to signing a new right-back.

Sabatini's latest comments have increased speculation that AS Roma are on the verge of snapping up Chelsea defender Jose Bosingwa. The 29-year-old is a free agent after his contract with the Blues expired in the summer.

He joined Chelsea from FC Porto in 2008 for a fee reported to be over €20 million.

Meanwhile, AS Roma have confirmed the signing of Lithuania U19 international goalkeeper Tomas Svedkauskas from FK Suduva.

Forlan signs for Internacional

Brazilian side Internacional have announced the signing of Diego Forlan just hours after the Uruguay striker terminated his contract with Inter Milano.

Forlan, who had a year left on his contract in Italy, has put pen-to-paper on a deal which will keep him at Internacional until June 2015.

Forlan, 33-year-old, joined the Nerazzurri last summer from Atletico Madrid but endured a frustrating, injury-plagued campaign, scoring 2 goals in 22 appearances.

Riether completes Fulham loan deal

Fulham have completed the signing of right-back Sascha Riether on a season-long loan.

The 29-year-old has made 2 appearances the German national team and joins the Cottagers from FC Koln, who were recently relegated from the Bundesliga.

Riether has signed on loan until the end of the season and Fulham have an option to make the move permanent at the end of that period.

Riether, who can also operate in midfield, spent last season at Koln after joining from VfL Wolfsburg.

The defender began his career 10 years ago at SC Freiburg, where he made 139 appearances over 5 seasons.

Riether then went onto enjoy 4 seasons at Wolfsburg, helping them to the Bundesliga crown in 2008/2009 before joining Koln.

Kalou signs with Lille

Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou has signed a 4-year deal with Lille, the Ligue 1 club's official website has confirmed.

The Ivory coast international has been linked with a host of clubs after being released by Chelsea at the end of the season.

However, it soon emerged that he would be moving to Lille, with the deal picking up pace after the news that the 26-year-old arrived in the Flanders city on Friday for a medical.

Kalou spent 6 seasons in West London, making more than 240 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 60 times, but found playing time increasingly rare this season, turning out only 12 times in Premier League.

The Ivorian is Rudi Garcia's 4th summer signing at the club, joining Marvin Martin, Steeve Elana and Viktor Klonaridis at Les Dogues.

Tottenham sign Vertonghen

Tottenham Hotspur have signed Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen for a fee possibly rising to €12 million.

Both clubs had long been in talks over the possibility of the Belgium defender moving to White Hart Lane and the deal is now set to be completed.

Vertonghen will ink a long-term contract with Spurs upon completion of his medical.

Vertonghen came through the ranks of the Ajax youth academy and has made 220 official appearances for the Eredivisie champions, scoring 28 goals in the process.

Spurs closing in on Adebayor

Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a deal to sign Emmanuel Adebayor on a permanent transfer from Manchester City.

The Londoners have reduced City's initial asking price by half and will pay the Togolese striker a £5 million signing-on fee as they look to supplement his current £170.000-per-week wage package.

Sources at City expect the deal to be completed within days as they look to free up their wage budget and spaces in their squad to make a move for Arsenal captain Robin van Persie.

The Premier League champions had hoped for a bidding war for Adebayor following interest earlier in the summer from Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan, but Tottenham have emerged as the only option.

Adebayor, 28-year-old, made it clear he was eager to return to White Hart Lane and new Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas also expressed his desire to sign the former Arsenal man.

Adebayor played a key role for Spurs on loan last season under Harry Redknapp, scoring 17 Premier League goals and providing 11 assists in 33 appearances, building a particularly strong understanding with winger Gareth Bale.

Verratti edges closer to PSG move

Pescara playmaker Marco Verratti is set to complete his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain next week, according to his agent.

The 19-year-old, who proved crucial in helping Pescara gain promotion to Serie A last season, is set to move to the Ligue 1 giants for a reported €14 million transfer deal this summer.

Verratti has made 74 appearances for Pescara since making his debut with the Italian outfit at the age of 16.

The Italy U21 player is also a reported target of Juventus and Napoli.

Verratti is under contract with Pescara until June 2016 and is set to sign a 5-year deal with the Parisian giants.

Ottl leaves Hertha for Augsburg

Augsburg have brought Andreas Ottl back to Bavaria by signing the former Bayern Munchen midfielder on a free transfer from Hertha Berlin.

Ottl spent last season with Hertha having previously spent a spell on loan with FC Nurnberg.

He made 95 appearances for Bayern Munchen between 2005 and 2011 and now returns to Bavaria to play for Augsburg for the next 2 years.

Paloschi signs with Chievo



Chievo have signed striker Alberto Paloschi from AC Milan on a one-year loan deal.

The 22-year-old already spent last season on loan at Chievo and will now be looking to improve on his record of 5 goals in 32 Serie A appearances with the club.

Paloschi is a product of the Milan youth academy and impressed in his league debut more than 4 years ago as he netted the winner against Siena.

Nevertheless, the forward failed to secure regular first-team action at Milan after his great start, and was farmed out on loan to clubs such as Parma, Genoa and Chievo in the past 4 seasons.

Swansea add De Guzman capture

Swansea City have followed the signing of Jose Manuel Flores from Genoa with the acquisition of Jonathan de Guzman on a season-long loan from Villarreal.

Manager Michael Laudrup made defender Flores the first addition to his squad since succeeding Brendan Rodgers and he has now added former Holland U21 international De Guzman ahead of the Swans' second Barclays Premier League campaign.

Both players previously worked with Laudrup at Real Mallorca and De Guzman is looking forward to being re-acquainted with the Dane at Liberty Stadium.

The Canadian-born playmaker moved to Holland to join the Feyenoord academy and went on to make over 100 appearances for the Rotterdam club.

He also featured for the Dutch U21 side and played at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

He moved to Real Mallorca in 2010 and was then sold to Villarreal for around £7 million in August of last year.

But he found opportunities hard to come by after a change of manager as the club were relegated from La Liga.

There is an option for the deal to be made permanent at the end of the season and De Guzman is looking forward to having more game time with his new club.

Spurs alert to Afellay opening



According to Daily Express, FC Barcelona are keen to sell Ibrahim Afellay.

With the new campaign fast approaching, FC Barcelona officials are keen to strengthen their squad and wrest the La Liga title back from rivals Real Madrid.

After signing Jordi Alba, the club are now focused on obtaining Javi Martinez, but they must sell off some of their players in order to meet the steep price tag slapped on the Spaniard by Athletic Bilbao.

Although Barca were unwilling to part with Afellay at the end of last season, sources in Spain indicate that club management have changed their mind.

The Catalan side have announced the availability of Afellay and Brazilian full-back Adriano, in hopes of raising the funds required to buy Martinez.

French newspaper Mercato 365 reported at the start of the month that the club accepted a transfer bid from Lille for the Dutchman, but the deal failed to materialize because of Afellay's unwillingness to leave Camp Nou.

Premier League sides Arsenal and Tottenham are both long-time admirers of Afellay and remain keen on bringing him on board.

A bid of approximately €6 million is believed to be sufficient for either team to sign the former PSV Eindhoven player.

Altintop set for Galata move

Hamit Altintop is on the brink of completing a transfer from Real Madrid to Galatasaray after arriving at the Turkish club's training camp.

The 29-year-old midfielder has been tipped to leave Real since the end of last season after failing to make his mark at Santiago Bernabeu following a free transfer from Bayern Munchen in May 2011.

The two clubs are yet to confirm the transfer, but Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim told the club's TV on Thursday the player has joined up with his players for pre-season.

Hamit began his professional career with Wattenscheid in 2000 and also spent 4 years at Schalke between 2003 and 2007 before joining Bayern.

Newcastle close in on Debuchy signing

Alan Pardew was today poised to make a significant transfer breakthrough as he closed in on Lille full-back Mathieu Debuchy.

Press Association Sport understands the two clubs are close to agreeing a deal for the 26-year-old defender, who was part of France's EURO 2012 squad.

The Magpies have been on Debuchy's trail for some time, but have so far been unable to persuade Lille to part with the player and reports earlier this week suggested they were ready to offer him a new deal.

However, it appears things could now move quickly and that Debuchy could become Pardew's third, but most significant, summer signing to date.

Current first-choice right-back Danny Simpson has so far not signed a new contract on Tyneside and his departure is looking increasingly likely as he prepares to enter the final year of his existing deal despite his insistence that he wants to stay.

Liverpool agree fee for Borini

Liverpool have agreed a fee with AS Roma for striker Fabio Borini and the player has arrived on Merseyside to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms.

The 21-year-old has previously worked with Reds manager Brendan Rodgers first at Chelsea and then when he went on loan to Swansea City in the 2010/2011 season.

Borini has now arrived at the club's Melwood training ground to have his medical, Press Association Sport understands, and the deal should be completed, barring any hitches, in the next couple of days.

Borini's fee has not been disclosed but it is not believed to be as high as the £12 million being reported in some quarters.

Borini scored 6 goals in 9 npower Championship matches for Swansea in their promotion-winning campaign having only joined in March 2011 and he won the penalty in the Wembley play-off Final which secured a 4-2 victory over Reading.

With his contract expiring at Stamford Bridge he signed for Italian side Parma, with Chelsea receiving a small sum in compensation, but was immediately loaned out to AS Roma.

He scored 9 times in 24 matches and, after AS Roma bought half of his rights in January, the Serie A club secured full ownership, at a total cost of around £6 million, last month.

Borini's form earned him a place in Italy's EURO 2012 squad but he remained on the bench throughout his country's run to the Final, where they were beaten by Spain.

Rodgers knew he needed to bring in more attacking players when he took over from Kenny Dalglish last month.

The Reds' record in front of goal was poor last season, with their 47 goals in 38 matches worse than relegated Blackburn Rovers.

Dirk Kuyt has been sold to Fenerbahce while Craig Bellamy, who turned 33 today, has only a year left on his contract and is attracting interest from hometown club Cardiff City.

There has also been plenty of speculation about the future of £35 million club record signing Andy Carroll after he was initially linked with AC Milan with the likes of Premier League rivals West Ham and Fulham also coming into the frame.

Galatasaray set to sign Yilmaz

Galatasaray have announced that they have met Trabzonspor striker Burak Yilmaz's release clause of €5 million, making a move imminent.

The Turkey international enjoyed a prolific campaign last season, topping the Super Lig scoring charts as Trabzonspor secured a third place finish.

Galatasaray have long been linked with a move for another striker after Milan Baros endured a frustrating campaign at the club, while Sercan Yildirim has failed to live up to expectations since his move from Bursaspor in 2011.

The club officially announced they had entered negotiations with Trabzonspor over the player on Thursday and have now confirmed that they have met his release clause.

The 26-year-old has endured unhappy spells at Galatasaray's rivals Besiktas and Fenerbahce, but hit top form at club level since moving to Trabzonspor 2 years ago.

Burak will be officially presented to the public once he agrees personal terms with the Turk Telekom ArenA club.

Fulham have bolstered their strike options after completing a deal to sign Hugo Rodallega on a free transfer.

The former Wigan Athletic frontman has penned a 3-year deal to join the Craven Cottage club subject to a work permit.

Rodallega had become available on a free transfer after his contract with Wigan, where he spent the past 3 years, expired last month.

Despite managing just 2 goals last term the Colombia international had reportedly also drawn interest from Everton and Aston Villa, and admitted he had hoped to remain in England.

Maicosuel moves to Udinese

Udinese have completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Maicosuel on a 5-year deal from Botafogo.

Nicknamed "O' Mago" (the wizard) for his dribbling skills, Maicosuel has joined the Zebrette for an undisclosed fee. He has previous European experience with TSG Hoffenheim, where he scored 3 goals in 27 games during the 2009/2010 campaign.

The 26-year-old moved to Botafogo the following season and registered 6 goals in 54 league outings for the club, who last week unveiled former AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf as their latest recruit.

Having finished third in Serie A last term, Udinese enter the 2012/2013 Champions League at the play-off stage. They will discover their opponents when the draw is made on 10 August.

Hoilett close to Germany switch

Junior Hoilett is close to agreeing a deal with Borussia Monchengladbach, according to reports on Friday.

Sources in Germany have revealed that the former Blackburn Rovers winger is expected in the country this weekend to conclude a deal.

The 22-year-old has spoken with Tottenham, Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle, QPR and Reading over recent weeks, whilst Blackburn made a big effort to keep him.

But Hoilett has strong connections in Germany having spent 2 years playing on loan there earlier in his career.

His brother also plays professional football in Germany and the chance for the family to be close is believed to be a big factor in the decision.

As it stands Hoilett is now due to fly to Germany in the next 24 hours to try and wrap up a move to Gladbach, who will play Champions League football next term.

Liverpool midfielder Maxi Rodriguez has left the Reds to rejoin former club Newell's Old Boys in Argentina.

The 31-year-old never established himself as a regular first team starter after joining from Atletico Madrid in January 2010 but he still managed some stand-out performances.

Rodriguez scored 17 goals in 73 appearances, the highlights being 2 hat-tricks in the space of a couple of weeks against Birmingham City and Fulham in 2011, while last season he scored in 2 victories over Chelsea in quick succession at Stamford Bridge.

Sporting announce Pranjic arrival

Danijel Pranjic has joined Sporting Lisbon from Bayern Munchen, signing a 3-year deal with the Lions.

The left-sided midfielder was a free agent after leaving the German club, for whom he scored once in 55 Bundesliga appearances over 3 seasons. The 30-year-old has a release clause in his contract of €15 million.

Pranjic, formerly of NK Osijek, Dinamo Zagreb and SC Heerenveen, played in group games against Italy and Spain at EURO 2012.

Sporting, 4th place finishers in Liga Sagres last season and defeated by Academica Coimbra in the Portuguese Cup Final, begin their Europa League campaign in the play-offs.

Ruben makes Dynamo move

Dynamo Kiev have swooped to sign forward Marco Ruben on a 5-year deal from Villarreal.

The 25-year-old moved to Spain from Argentinian side River Plate in 2008 and scored 9 goals in 31 La Liga appearances last term as the Yellow Submarine were relegated.

Ruben watched his team-mates contest their opening league game against Metalurg Donetsk on Saturday but is keen to make an impression at his new club.

The Bilo-Syni will enter the Champions League in the third qualifying round and will learn of their opponents in the draw on 20 July.

Eriksen eager to be a Red Devil

According to Daily Mirror, Ajax's Christian Eriksen has requested talks to initiate a move to Manchester United.

Considered one of the brightest prospects in Eredivisie, Eriksen's playmaking skills have earned him the admiration of Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City. With the player's heart set on leaving the Amsterdam ArenA this summer, Ajax have begun talks with two clubs over the possibility of a transfer.

One of the clubs is reportedly Zenit Sankt Petersburg, who have met the Dutch champions' valuation of £20 million for the Dane.

However, Eriksen is uninterested in a move to Russia and has since requested a meeting with Ajax's director of football Marc Overmars to enquire the identity of the second club that his current employers are conducting negotiations with.

If sources in Holland are accurate, the other team to have tabled a bid for Eriksen are the Red Devils, a club the midfielder is believed to be very keen to join.

However, reports indicate Ajax are holding out for a larger bid from the English side, as they hope to ease their finances via Eriksen's sale.

AS Roma confirm Bradley signing

AS Roma have confirmed the €3.75 million signing of United States international Michael Bradley from Serie A rivals Chievo.

The 24-year-old has penned a 4-year contract that ties him to the Giallorossi until June 2016, Roma announced in a statement on their website.

Bradley, who has won 69 caps for his country, joined Chievo last summer from Borussia Monchengladbach and had one year left on his contract with the Verona outfit.

As part of the deal, Roma's Romanian midfielder Adrian Stoian, 21-year-old, has joined Chievo for the upcoming campaign.

AS Roma close in on Destro



According to Corriere dello Sport, AS Roma have made a bid for Mattia Destro.

After selling Fabio Borini to Liverpool in a deal worth €13.5 million, AS Roma are desperate to sign a new forward to bolster their attack. Destro has been on the club's radar since the end of the last campaign and the Giallorossi have now made their move by reaching an agreement with Genoa.

AS Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini is expected to meet Destro's agent, Renzo Contratto, within the next few days to discuss personal terms. In the meantime, the Giallorossi board will continue negotiations with Siena, the other club who co-own the player.

Highly rated in the Serie A after scoring 12 goals in the previous season, Destro has also attracted the interest of Inter Milano, Juventus, and AC Milan. The Rossoneri are believed to be contemplating a bid for the striker, with the departure of top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic looking increasingly likely.

According the sources in the Italian media, Genoa are likely to expend €6 million to buy Destro outright from Siena, before requesting €12 million bid from AS Roma. Siena are expected to pocket a €4.7 million profit from the deal.

Behrami & Gamberini set for Napoli

Napoli are set to complete the signings of Fiorentina pair Valon Behrami and Alessandro Gamberini later on Monday.

Both players have been granted permission by the Florence-based club to undergo a medical with Napoli before completing permanent transfers to the azzurri outfit.

Behrami, a Swiss midfielder, joined Fiorentina in 2005 from Bologna.

The 27-year-old is set to sign a 3-year deal with the Partenopei side.

Italian central defender Gamberini, meanwhile, is expected to put pen-to-paper on a contract that will keep him tied to Napoli until June 2016.

Werder interested in Pazzini

Werder Bremen are interested in signing Inter Milano striker Giampaolo Pazzini, whose coach Andrea Strammacioni also confessed that the player may not fit into his plans.

Bremen recently lost Claudio Pizarro who rejoined Bayern Munchen for a second spell. The striker had been prolific last season and scored 18 goals in Bundesliga and the club is on the active lookout for a equally strong goalpoacher to partner Marko Arnautovic.

Swedish forward Markus Rosenberg has already made an exit from the club and manager Thomas Schaaf is therefore desperate to bolster the club's striking department.

Pazzini, signed last year by Inter from Sampdoria, endured a poor first full season at the club.

He had earlier showed much promise at the Genoa-based club and had been tipped to become a star striker for the Italian national squad but injuries and poor form prevented him from even sealing a place in the final 23-man EURO 2012 squad.

The striker scored only 5 goals from 33 appearances and new coach Stramaccioni selected him just once for the starting XI in the final 8 matches of the season.

Naldo departs Werder for Wolves

Werder Bremen have announced defender Naldo has left the club and will join Bundesliga rivals VfL Wolfsburg.

Werder coach Klaus Allofs explained that he had done his utmost to persuade the Brazil international to extend his stay at Weserstadion, but that the centre-back is now poised to sign a 4-year contract.

Naldo, who has been capped 4 times by his country, joined Werder from Brazilian outfit Juventude in 2005.

West Ham close in on Maiga

Sam Allardyce has confirmed that West Ham are hoping to complete the signing of Mali striker Modibo Maiga from Sochaux.

Sky Sports understands that the 25-year-old is undergoing a medical with the East London club ahead of a proposed £4.5 million move from Ligue 1.

Maiga was linked with a move to Newcastle last summer and a proposed move to St James' Park in the January transfer window fell through.

The Mali international joined Sochaux from Le Mans in July 2010 and has since scored 24 goals in 52 games for the French side.

Gladbach seal De Jong signature

Borussia Monchengladbach have confirmed the transfer of Luuk de Jong from FC Twente for a fee reportedly in the region of €15 million.

The striker has signed a contract until June 2017 with the Bundesliga club.

Gladbach have been in the market for attacking reinforcements since the departure of Marco Reus to Borussia Dortmund and coach Lucien Favre has now got the new striker he had set his sights on.

De Jong is a product of the De Graafschap youth academy and joined FC Twente at the start of the 2009/2010 season. He had since developed into a key player at the Eredivisie outfit, netting 39 goals in 75 league appearances.

The Holland international had also attracted the interest of Newcastle, but the Premier League side pulled out of the race for his signature due to Twente's hefty asking price for the striker.

Spalletti ready to spend on Arshavin

Luciano Spalletti said he would be interested in taking Arsenal's Andrey Arshavin back to Zenit Sankt Petersburg after a successful spell.

The 31-year-old fell out of favour at Emirates Stadium in the first half of last season and was subsequently shipped out to his former side for the rest of campaign in a bid to secure a place in Russia's squad for EURO 2012.

Arshavin impressed during his spell back home, scoring 3 times in 10 appearances and Spalletti has since conceded the attacker forms part of his transfer wishlist ahead of the new season, which starts on Saturday.

Zenit won a second consecutive Russian Premier League title under Spalletti in May.

Mudingayi links up with Inter

Inter Milano have confirmed the loan signing of Belgian midfielder Gaby Mudingayi on a season-long deal from Bologna.

The Serie A giants have the option to make the 30-year-old's transfer permanent at the end of the season and he will add much-needed depth to the club's midfield.

Mudingayi has been a regular contributor for Bologna over the past 4 years, making over 25 league appearances per season.

He previously enjoyed stints at FC Torino and Lazio prior to his move to Bologna, while he also spent 4 years at Gent in Belgium.

Inter confirmed the deal on their official website on Friday and Mudingayi has already linked up with his team-mates, taking part in a training session on the day of his arrival.

Valencia confirm Gago transfer

Valencia have confirmed they have agreed a fee with Real Madrid for midfielder Fernando Gago.

The 26-year-old Argentina international arrived in Valencia on Thursday evening after the fee - reportedly in the region of €3.5 million - and personal terms were agreed, Los Che announced on their website.

Gago initially made a strong impression after joining Real Madrid for more than €20 million from Boca Juniors in January 2006, helping the club to La Liga titles in 2007 and 2008.

But he fell down the pecking order following the arrivals of Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira and Nuri Sahin and spent last season on loan at AS Roma.

Sergio Canales looks set to join Gago in transferring from the Spanish capital to Los Che, with his loan move expected to be made permanent in the coming days.

The 21-year-old spent last term on loan at Mestalla, but his opportunities were limited by 2 serious knee injuries.

Chelsea complete Oscar signing

Chelsea have completed the signing of midfielder Oscar from Internacional, the Premier League club announced on Wednesday.

No details have been released regarding the player's transfer fee or contract, but reports indicated that the playmaker would cost around £25 million.

Oscar is representing Brazil at the Olympic Games and played in their pre-tournament warm-up against Great Britain.

The 20-year-old is Chelsea's 4th signing in the off-season, joining Marko Marin and brothers Eden and Thorgan Hazard at Stamford Bridge.

Oscar joined Internacional from Sao Paulo in 2010 and has won the Campeonato Gaucho state championship twice with the Porto Alegre-based side.

He scored 13 goals in 44 matches in all competitions last season and has found the net 6 times in 20 appearances during the current campaign.

Fiorentina take Cuadrado on loan

Fiorentina have signed Udinese's midfielder Juan Cuadrado on loan with an option to sign him permanently.

The 24-year-old, who has made 9 international appearances and scored 2 goals, moved to Udine from Independiente Medellin in 2009 but has made only 22 appearances for the club.

However, his performances while on loan at Lecce last season have persuaded the Viola to make their move for him.

Chievo sign Rigoni

Novara have confirmed the transfer of midfielder Marco Rigoni to Chievo on a season-long loan with the option to make the deal permanent.

Rigoni was one of the few bright sparks in a testing campaign for Novara last season which saw the minnows relegated from Serie A.

Chievo finished the 2011/2012 Serie A season in 10th place with 49 points which was 17 points more than second from bottom Novara.

Valencia sign Vila on loan

Valencia have moved to fill the void left by Jordi Alba by signing defender Didac Vila on a one-year loan deal from AC Milan.

Alba, who has been a star for Los Che in the last couple of seasons, agreed to rejoin boyhood club FC Barcelona earlier in the summer for a fee of €14 million, leaving new Valencia coach Mauricio Pellegrino needing a new first-choice left-back.

However, the Argentinean has now moved to address the issue by securing a deal for Vila, who began his career at Espanyol and spent the whole of last season there on loan from the Rossoneri.

Valencia have reportedly agreed to pay Milan €700.000 up front but have an option to make the deal a permanent one any point during the season for a yet-to-be-determined fee.

Nonetheless, Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani was keen to stress his club would only be willing to let Vila leave permanently if they receive a satisfactory offer, believed to be in the region of €5 million.

Valencia have already signed a number of players this summer, including Mexico international Andres Guardado from Deportivo La Coruna, Portuguese right-back Joao Pereira and ex-Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago.

Espanyol swoop for Capdevila

Former Villarreal left-back Joan Capdevila has joined Espanyol from Benfica, for a fee in the region of €350.000.

Capdevila, who was part of the Spain squad that won the 2008 European Championship and the 2010 World Cup, joined the Portuguese club last summer after 4 years with the Yellow Submarine but failed to secure a regular place in the side and was keen to head back to his homeland.

Espanyol confirmed the signing on their official website.

The 34-year-old returns to the club where he started his career back in 1997 and is Mauricio Pochettino's 4th acquisition of the summer after the arrivals of Diego Colotto, Sergio Tejera and Mubarak Wakaso.

Lokomotiv sign N'Doye

Lokomotiv Moscow have signed Senegalese striker Dame N'Doye from FC Copenhagen for an undisclosed fee.

N'Doye, 27-year-old, is seen as an ideal candidate to strengthen Slaven Bilic's side's striking options and had previously been in negotiations with Trabzonspor over a transfer to replace the departing Burak Yilmaz.

The forward, who scored 82 goals in 150 appearances for Copenhagen in the Superliga since joining them from OFI Crete in 2009, will play his final match for the capital club in a friendly against West Bromwich on Wednesday.

Salvio returns to Benfica

Benfica have announced the return of winger Eduardo Salvio from Atletico Madrid for an undisclosed fee.

The Argentina international, who spent the 2010/2011 season on loan at Estadio da Luz, has penned a 5-year contract.

Benfica confirmed the deal on their official website on Wednesday and although they refused to disclose the transfer fee, it is believed that the Lisbon club have paid about €10 million for the 22-year-old.

Salvio, who has been capped 5 times by his country, netted 10 times in 39 appearances in all competitions during his previous spell in Liga Sagres.

However, the Lanus youth team product, whose buy-out clause has been set at €60 million, struggled to nail down a regular berth in Atletico's starting line-up last season.

Cazorla set for Gunners medical

Spain international Santi Cazorla is due to fly into London this week for a medical with Arsenal, Sky Sports understands.

The Malaga midfielder wants to quit the troubled La Liga club, whose Qatarian owners are looking to sell.

Despite a takeover looking likely, Cazorla is pressing for his sale to go through and he looks set to get his wish with a deal worth around €22 million apparently set to be agreed between the two clubs.

The player's representatives have reportedly already held talks with Arsenal and they are happy with the proposed deal on offer at Emirates.

Malaga paid €19 million to Villarreal just 12 months ago, but they have debts of around €40 million which need settling this week.

Talks with Albanian company Taci have broken down and, whilst there is Russian and Middle East interest, the deal to sell Cazorla looks like it is needed.

Sky Sports understands that Cazorla should be in England within the next 48 hours to conclude a deal, which would be a major coup for Arsene Wenger.

The 27-year-old, a regular in Spain's all-conquering international squad, helped Malaga into the top 4 in La Liga last season.

Taiwo leaves Milan for Dynamo Kiev

AC Milan have confirmed that defender Taye Taiwo has been loaned out to Dynamo Kiev for a year with a view to a permanent move.

The Nigerian defender arrived at the Rossoneri from Olympique Marseille a year ago, but failed to convince coach Massimiliano Allegri of his worth to the side and he was sent out on loan to Queens Park Rangers for the second half of last season.

An appearance for Milan in a friendly tournament against Inter Milano and Juventus recently indicated that he may well find room in the side this season, but he has now left for another loan spell, this time in Ukraine.

Aquilani completes Fiorentina move

Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani is set to join Fiorentina according to the club's president, Andrea Della Valle.

After signing for the Merseyside-based club back in 2009, Aquilani has since made just 18 league appearances after costing Rafa Benitez a fee in the region of £17 million.

But a move has been on the cards for some time after the player was flown back early from the club's pre-season tour of North America to help force through the switch, with Della Valle claiming a deal has been struck.

"We have bought Aquilani", Della Valle told reporters at Fiorentina's pre-season training camp in Moena.

It was originally thought that under new management, with Brendan Rodgers now at the helm, the Italian would be granted more first-team opportunities after spending the last 2 seasons out on loan with AC Milan and Juventus, but he has since been deemed surplus to requirements.

Krasic signs for Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce have announced they have completed the signing of Juventus winger Milos Krasic for €7 million.

The 27-year-old Serbian has agreed a 4-year contract with the Istanbul giants worth €2.3 million per season to finally put an end to speculation about his future.

Krasic signed for Juventus from CSKA Moscow for €15 million in 2010, but after a positive first season in Italy he found himself out of favour upon the appointment of coach Antonio Conte at the beginning of last term.

Several clubs, including Fenerbahce, had expressed an interest in signing Krasic on loan in the January transfer window, but the player held out in hope of securing a permanent transfer.

The 46-cap Serbia international will fly into Istanbul on Friday to be presented by Fenerbahce, who finished second in the Super Lig last season.

Yobo completes Fenerbahce move

Fenerbahce have clinched the permanent signing of Nigerian defender Joseph Yobo from Everton on a 3-year deal.

Yobo has spent the past couple of seasons on loan with the Turkish club, making 62 league appearances and scoring 2 goals.

Everton still have strength in depth at the back so they decided to enter into talks with Fenerbahce over a sale and an undisclosed fee has been agreed between the two clubs.

Yobo was David Moyes' first signing when he joined Everton in 2002 from Olympique Marseille and made 220 league appearances for the Toffees.

He also became the first African player to captain Everton, but fell down the pecking order following the signings of Sylvian Distin and John Heitinga.

Weiss completes Pescara move

Vladimir Weiss is looking forward to the challenge of trying to keep Pescara in Serie A after joining the club from Manchester City.

The 22-year-old Slovakia international had been highly-rated at Eastlands as a youngster, where he had been tipped for a bright career.

However, the arrival of a number of high-profile signings at the club over the last few seasons has blocked his path to the first team.

Weiss joined Bolton on loan in January 2010 in a deal that ran until the end of the season.

The following campaign he was sent to Glasgow Rangers where he was part of the squad that won the SPL crown during his season long-loan.

Another stint at Malaga followed last season but he is now ready for his new adventure in Italy.

Rondon set for move to Russia

Malaga have confirmed Salomon Rondon has not joined the rest of the squad on a pre-season tour as he is negotiating a move away from the club.

Rondon hinted earlier in the week that he would be happy to leave Malaga and speculation suggested Tottenham Hotspur could be a possible destination.

However, local media reports in Spain indicate that he is now poised to join Rubin Kazan in a deal worth around €10 million.

Villarreal sign Mellberg



Villarreal have confirmed the signing of Sweden defender Olof Mellberg.

The 34-year-old helped Olympiacos win the Greek league and Cup double last season before playing a key role for Sweden during the European Championship.

He passed a medical this morning and has signed a one-year contract with the Yellow Submarine, who were relegated to the Segunda Division last season.

Alou Diarra close to West Ham switch

West Ham have agreed a deal with Olympique Marseille for France international midfielder Alou Diarra.

According to Sky Sports, the former Liverpool enforcer arrived in England on Thursday morning to undergo a medical and put the finishing touches to a move.

It is believed that the 31-year-old will pen a 2-year contract with the Hammers.

Diarra was expected to be on the move this summer after struggling to settle at Marseille.

He only joined the club in 2011, but failed to produce his best at Stade Velodrome.

He did make France's EURO 2012 squad, and started their first game against England, but much of his focus has been on the future.

Diarra will be hoping that a return to England will help to bring the best out of him and allow him to prove to those at Anfield that they were wrong to let him go without making a senior appearance.

His career took off after leaving Anfield, with spells at Lens, Olympique Lyon and Girondins Bordeaux seeing him pick up 2 French titles and 2 Coupe de la Ligue successes.
