Steinhoefer make Betis move

Real Betis have confirmed the signing of FC Basel defender Markus Steinhoefer on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old spent 2 and a half years in Switzerland but with his contract coming to an end he has chosen to move to Spain.

Steinhoefer, who can play in defence or midfield, made 63 appearances for Basel last season as they won the league and cup double as well as reaching the Europa League semi-finals.

Betis finished 7th in La Liga, qualifying for Europe, and Steinhoefer cannot wait to get started at his new club.

The German becomes Pepe Mel's 6th signing ahead of the new season, with further arrivals expected before August.

FC Sevilla loan Carrico from Reading

FC Sevilla have secured a season-long loan deal for Reading midfielder Daniel Carrico, with a view to a permanent deal.

The former Portugal U21 international moved to Madejski Stadium in January from Sporting Lisbon, but only made 3 appearances as the Berkshire club were relegated from Premier League.

And the 24-year-old made no secret of his desire to leave Nigel Adkins' side, following their drop into the Championship.

Carrico made 153 appearances for Sporting after making his debut against Pacos Ferreira in October 2008.

PSV and Roma agree Strootman deal

PSV Eindhoven have agreed a fee with AS Roma for the transfer of 23-year-old midfielder Kevin Strootman.

The former FC Utrecht and Sparta player has been linked with a switch throughout the close-season and is now in Rome to agree personal terms and have a medical conducted.

Since moving to the Philips Stadium in 2011, Strootman has become a regular fixture within the side, helping PSV finish second in the Dutch top flight last season.

The Holland international has made 53 appearances in all competitions since joining the club, scoring 13 goals.

Strootman also has 19 caps for his country, making 18 starts and one substitute appearance.

Negredo close to City switch

FC Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has revealed that Alvaro Negredo's proposed move to Manchester City will be confirmed imminently.

Del Nido has informed Seville-based publication El Desmarque that the long-running transfer saga is "about to close", and described the impending deal as the second biggest in the Spanish club's history.

Negredo scored 31 goals in 42 appearances for Sevilla last season, and has been with the Andalusian club since 2009.

And Del Nido has accepted that he will need to sign an "important player" to replace his departing forward's goal haul.

Negredo is set to become new City manager Manuel Pellegrini's second signing from Sevilla during the close season following the recent acquisition of Jesus Navas.

The 27-year-old forward has earned 14 caps with Spain, but failed to earn a place in Vicente del Bosque's FIFA Confederations Cup squad.

PSG secure Digne signing

Paris Saint-Germain have signed defender Lucas Digne from Lille on a 5-year deal.

Left-back Digne, 19-year-old, moves to Parc des Princes for a fee thought to be in the region of €15 million.

A product of the Lille academy, Digne has impressed many with his assured performances, and was part of the France side that won the recent FIFA U20 World Cup.

A mainstay of the Lille side last campaign, Digne will be expected to compete with former FC Barcelona man Maxwell for a place in Laurent Blanc's starting XI.

Digne made 44 appearances for Lille in 2012/2013, scoring 3 goals.

Malouda completes switch to Trabzonspor

Former Chelsea winger Florent Malouda has joined Trabzonspor on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old Frenchman underwent his medical on Wednesday and has now signed a 2-year deal with the Super Lig club.

Malouda, who has made 80 appearances for his country, was prolific for Chelsea in the 2010/2011 season, in which he scored 13 goals in 38 league appearances, but a poor follow-up campaign saw him fall out of favour.

The midfielder was limited largely to cup appearances under Roberto Di Matteo last term and was unable to force his way back into the plans of replacement Rafa Benitez.

Malouda was released at the end of the season, but left Stamford Bridge having won the Premier League title and 3 FA Cup winners' medals.

The switch to the Turkish top flight marks the 4th move of his senior career, which began at Chateauroux in 1996.

Malouda has also enjoyed spells at Guingamp and Olympique Lyon in his homeland.

Marquinhos joins PSG

Paris Saint-Germain have secured the services of 19-year-old defender Marquinhos from AS Roma on a 5-year deal.

The highly rated Brazilian has been on the club's radar for some time and he becomes the latest in a spate of signings for the Ligue 1 outfit.

Manager Laurent Blanc has underlined his ambitions for the season ahead, luring Napoli star Edinson Cavani and Lille midfielder Lucas Digne to the club on long-term deals this week.

Marquinhos impressed in Serie A last season, forcing experienced defender Nicolas Burdisso from his place at the back.

Graham joins Hull City on loan

Sunderland striker Danny Graham has completed a season-long loan move to Premier League rivals Hull City.

The 27-year-old will link up with former Sunderland manager Steve Bruce at the KC Stadium after failing to impress at the Stadium of Light last term.

Graham joined Sunderland from Swansea City on the final day of the January transfer window after falling out of favour with manager Michael Laudrup.

However, he was unable to find the net in his first 4 months with Sunderland and has been deemed surplus to requirements by Paolo Di Canio.

Graham becomes Hull's 7th new recruit of what has been a busy for close-season for the club.

He will now attempt to resurrect his career with the Yorkshire side as they aim to retain their Premier League status following promotion from the Championship last season.

Hannover & Stoke in Diouf discussions

Hannover and Stoke City have both confirmed they are in negotiations to send Senegalese forward Mame Biram Diouf to England.

Diouf joined Hannover in January 2012 after 2-and-a-half frustrating seasons on Manchester United's books, and has scored 27 goals and created 11 more from 51 games for the Bundesliga club but the 25-year-old striker is now pushing for a transfer.

Hannover's sporting director Dirk Dufner confirmed on Friday Diouf's agent Jim Solbakken has been in contact with Stoke City.

Diouf joined Manchester United in July 2009 after an impressive stint with Norwegian club Molde but the striker only managed 5 appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson and scored one goal, instead spending more time on loan back in Norway and with Blackburn Rovers.

But Diouf kick-started his career in Germany and started his time at Hannover with a bang, scoring 10 goals in his first 15 games for the Bundesliga club.

While there have been reports Stoke have offered €8 million for Diouf, Dufner has denied Hannover have received any official bids and remains confident they may be able to convince the powerful forward to stay in the north of Germany.

Thiago Ribeiro leaves Cagliari for Santos

Santos have signed striker Thiago Ribeiro on a 4-and-a-half year deal from Serie A side Cagliari.

The 27-year-old scored 9 goals in 68 for the Sardinians, signing a permanent deal with the club 12 months ago after a season-long loan from Uruguayan outfit Rentistas.

Ribeiro revealed the decision was motivated by family reasons, but also highlighted Cagliari's recent stadium woes, which saw them unable to play in their Stadio Is Arenas home due to safety concerns.

Galatasaray complete Melo signing

Galatasaray have completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo from Juventus.

The 30-year-old spent the last 2 seasons on loan at the Turk Telekom Arena and a permanent transfer has finally gone through after lengthy negotiations over the fee.

The clubs have agreed a €3.75 million deal for the Brazil international, with a number of performance-related payments also included.

Before moving to Turin in 2009 from Fiorentina for €25 million, Melo played in both La Liga and the Brazilian Serie A.

During the 2 seasons Melo was on loan at Galatasaray he became a key fixture in the side, making 62 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 goals.

He will be tasked with helping to retain the Turkish Super Lig after Fatih Terim's men won a record 19th title last season.

Napoli complete Albiol signing

Napoli have confirmed the signing of Spain defender Raul Albiol from Real Madrid on a 4-year contract.

The 27-year-old has ended a 4-year spell at Santiago Bernabeu to move to Italy.

The Serie A club have plenty of money available to strengthen their squad following the sale of Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint-Germain.

Albiol becomes Rafael Benitez's fifth signing since taking over from Walter Mazzarri, following Jose Callejon, who also moved from Madrid, Dries Mertens, goalkeeper Rafael Cabral and Josip Radosevic into the club.

Albiol, who was under contract at Madrid until June 2017, was not a regular starter, but still won the Primera Division in 2012 and the Copa Del Rey the season before.

He was also a member of Spain's World Cup-winning squad of 2010 and the successful European Championship squads of 2008 and 2012 and has 40 caps for his country.

He joined Real Madrid from Valencia in 2009.

Fiorentina announce Ilicic agreement



Fiorentina have agreed a deal to sign Josip Ilicic from Palermo.

Ilicic becomes the 6th player to arrive at Stadio Artemi Franchi ahead of the new season, with coach Vincenzo Montella looking improve on Fiorentina's 4th place Serie A finish in 2012/2013.

The Slovenia international made 32 appearances for Palermo last season, but could not prevent the Sicilian club from being relegated from the top tier.

The 25-year-old reached double figures in goals for the first time, and his performances in an under-performing squad did enough to persuade Montella to sign him.

FC Sevilla close in on Gameiro

FC Sevilla are expected to make official the signing of Kevin Gameiro from Paris Saint-Germain in the next few hours.

Los Nervionenses are known to have been in negotiations with PSG for the striker through the summer, but reports now indicate that a deal is all but agreed.

Reports in Spain and France suggest that an initial fee of between €9 million and €10 million has been agreed between the two clubs, with a further €2 million due on variables.

Meanwhile, the striker has reportedly skipped training with PSG and is set to leave their preseason camp in Sweden to fly out to Seville to complete formalities on the transfer.

The move would end a 2-year stint for the 26-year-old at Parc des Princes, where he has struggled for regular game time.

Villarreal agree Asenjo loan

Villarreal have agreed a deal to sign former Spain U21 goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo on a season-long loan from Atletico Madrid with an option to make the move permanent.

Atletico won the race to sign the highly-rated Asenjo from Real Valladolid in 2009 but he has found opportunities limited at Vicente Calderon, where David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois have been first-choice goalkeepers during his time at the club.

The 24-year-old, who suffered a serious knee injury while at Atletico, spent the 2010/2011 season on loan at Malaga and he is now heading to El Madrigal for a similar stint with promoted Villarreal.

Genoa complete Strasser deal

Genoa have completed the signing of Sierra Leone international midfielder Rodney Strasser from AC Milan.

The 23-year-old spent time on loan with Lecce and Parma during a 5-year spell on Milan's books but only made 6 Serie A appearances for the Rossoneri, scoring one goal.

Kevin Constant, the Guinean midfielder who walked off the pitch during a pre-season friendly with Sassuolo last week after allegedly suffering racist abuse, will remain at San Siro after Milan took the remaining half of his registration from Genoa as part of the Strasser deal.

Napoli confirm Higuain capture

Napoli have confirmed the signing of Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old arrives for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of €37 million, though the length of his contract has not yet been confirmed.

Higuain, who had reportedly been a long-term target for Premier League side Arsenal, brings an end to his 6 and a half year stay at Santiago Bernabeu to an end as a result of the switch.

The forward scored 122 goals in 266 appearances for the Spanish club in total, winning 3 La Liga titles and one Copa del Rey.

New Napoli coach Rafael Benitez has been busy in the transfer market since his appointment, bringing in a number of players as the club look to build on last season's second place finish.

Higuain is joined by former Real Madrid colleagues Raul Albiol and Jose Callejon in arriving at Stadio San Paolo during the close-season, while Dries Mertens and Pepe Reina have also boosted the squad.

Benitez will hope Higuain can fill the hole left by the recent departure of prolific frontman Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint-Germain.

Bosingwa leaves QPR



Portuguese defender Jose Bosingwa has left QPR by mutual consent.

The 30-year-old signed a 3-year deal at Loftus Road a year ago, but found himself largely out of favour after falling out with manager Harry Redknapp.

After refusing to take his place among the substitutes for a fixture against Fulham in December, Redknapp hinted at the time he would be sold in January.

His wages of £65.000 per week made him a likely candidate to leave QPR, following their relegation to the Championship.

Reported high earners such as Djibril Cisse and Chris Samba have also left the club as they look to cut their cloth accordingly for the second tier.

Bosingwa, who scored once in 23 games for QPR, is now expected to complete a move to Trabzonspor after being pictured arriving in Turkey for a medical with the Black Sea club.

Trabzonspor will face Dinamo Minsk in the third stage of Europa League qualifying after overcoming Derry City over 2 legs in the previous round.

Bursaspor boosted by triple swoop

Bursaspor will go into next week's Europa League third qualifying round tie against Serbia's FK Vojvodina with a bolstered back-line after bringing in a trio of new faces, including French goalkeeper Sebastien Frey who arrives on a 3-year contract from Genoa.

For Frey, capped twice by France, the move to Turkey ends a 15-year stay in Italian football where he played for Internazionale Milano, Hellas Verona, Parma, Fiorentina - where he spent 6 seasons - and Genoa. The 33-year-old, who joins for an undisclosed fee, will replace Scott Carson, who has returned to England to join Wigan Athletic.

The other two defensive reinforcements are Nigeria left-back Taye Taiwo, signed a on a free transfer from AC Milan, and Argentinian centre-back Renato Civelli who arrives from Nice.

Taiwo, 28-year-old, originally made his name at Olympique Marseille in France but after joining AC Milan in 2011 he made only 4 Serie A appearances before loan moves to Queens Park Rangers and Dynamo Kiev.

Taiwo has signed a 3-year contract while Civelli, 29-year-old, has agreed a 2-year deal.

Following spells at Banfield, Marseille, Gimnasia La Plata and San Lorenzo, Civelli joined Nice in 2010 and the following year struck the 2.000th goal in the history of the French League Cup.

Dragovic joins Dynamo Kiev

Austrian international Aleksandar Dragovic has ended his stay with FC Basel after signing a 5-year contract with Dynamo Kiev.

No details of the fee have been released for the transfer of the former Austria Wien academy product, who has now won 21 caps for his country.

Dynamo Kiev finished third in the Ukrainian Premier League last season, meaning a rare campaign without Champions League football this term.

They begin their participation in the Europa League in the play-off round.

Metalist move for Gomez

Metalist Kharkiv have confirmed the signing of attacking midfielder Alejandro Gomez from Catania for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old, who registered 16 goals in 106 league appearances for the Serie A side, has agreed a 4-year contract with the 2012/2013 Ukrainian Premier League runners-up.

The former San Lorenzo player, who left his homeland for Italy in 2010, becomes the 7th Argentinian on Metalist's books.

The 32-year-old has been linked with Steve Clarke's side for some time, but a deal was finally confirmed on Friday as the Ligue 1 champions offered their gratitude for his service.

The Uruguay international will now get his first opportunity at Premier League football after spending the last 2 years at Parc des Princes, the latter of which he spent on loan at Malaga.

Tottenham confirm Dempsey departure

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed the transfer of Clint Dempsey to the MLS, ahead of his proposed move to Seattle Sounders.

Dempsey only arrived at White Hart Lane in 2012 from Fulham in a £6 million deal, but the arrival of Roberto Soldado from Valencia has pushed him down the pecking order ahead of the 2013/2014 campaign.

The USA international returns to his homeland after a 6-year stay in Premier League.

Dempsey left New England Revolution to join Fulham in January 2007 before making his switch to Tottenham last year.

The 30-year-old made 43 appearances for Tottenham, scoring 12 goals.

Ansaldi set for Zenit

Left-back Cristian Ansaldi is poised to move to Zenit Sankt Petersburg, having played his last game for Rubin Kazan on Sunday.

The 26-year-old Argentinian international will join Zenit subject to passing a medical, having transferred to Rubin from Newell's Old Boys in 2008 and made 128 Russian Premier League appearances for the Kazan side, scoring twice.

The stadium announcer said during half-time of Sunday's 0-0 home draw with CSKA Moscow that Ansaldi was to leave Rubin, where he won 2 Russian titles and the 2011/2012 Russian Cup.

Ansaldi will be Zenit's fifth summer signing following the arrivals of goalkeeper Yuri Lodygin and midfielders Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, Ivan Solovyov and Andrey Arshavin.

Fenerbahce agree Emenike deal

Fenerbahce have agreed a deal with Spartak Moscow for the transfer of striker Emmanuel Emenike.

The 26-year-old will return to Turkey, having formerly played for Karabukspor before moving to Russia, provided he passes a medical and agrees personal terms.

Emenike spent 2 seasons in the Russian capital, scoring 23 goals in all competitions for the club.

The Nigerian lists Delta Force, Black Aces and Cape Town among his former clubs before moving to Turkey in 2009.

Emenike previoulsy signed for Fener in May 2011, but left for Russia just a month later after being arrested as part of a match-fixing probe. He was later acquitted of all charges.

Should the transfer be completed, it would leave manager Ersun Yanal and the club with a problem, as Emenike would become the 11th foreign player in the squad.

Super Lig sides are limited to 10 foreign players per season.

Stoch to join PAOK on loan

PAOK have reached an agreement to take Miroslav Stoch on loan from Fenerbahce with a view to a permanent transfer.

The 23-year-old moved to the Turkish club from Chelsea after spending a season on loan at FC Twente and will join the Greek outfit for the coming season, provided his move is completed.

Stoch made 73 appearances in his time at Fenerbahce, scoring 14 times in total.

The most notable of which came against Genclerbirligi in the Super Lig, when his volley won him the FIFA Puskas Award.

Stoch could make his first appearance for the club in the Superleague against Skoda Xanthi at the Toumba Stadium.

Hellas Verona sign Mihaylov

Hellas Verona have signed goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov from Dutch side FC Twente.

Bulgaria international Mihaylov moves to the Serie A club after 6 years with the Eredivisie outfit.

Mihaylov spent 3 seasons on loan with FC Twente after failing to qualify for a British work permit following his move to Liverpool in 2007.

Twente signed Mihaylov on a permanent deal in 2010 and he quickly became a mainstay at De Grolsch Veste.

He joins a Verona team that has recruited extensively since securing a return to the top flight with promotion from Serie B last term, with veteran striker Luca Toni and midfielder Massimo Donati among those to link-up with Andrea Mandorlini's side.

The 25-year-old had been linked with a move to fellow Serie A newboys Sassuolo, but he will now compete with Brazilian shot-stopper Rafael for a place in the starting XI.

Milhaylov made 35 appearances for Twente last season.

Valencia bring in Postiga

Valencia have moved to replace Roberto Soldado by signing forward Helder Postiga from Real Zaragoza for an initial fee in the region of €3 million.

The 31-year-old - who boasts an extensive CV at club and international levels - inked a 2 year contract at Mestalla before declaring that he was "looking forward to enjoying my football" with the 2013/2014 Europa League contenders.

A former FC Porto youth product, Postiga went on to score 36 goals in 114 Portuguese top flight games over 3 spells with the Dragoes. He also won 3 Liga Sagres championships and a UEFA Cup among other titles as a FC Porto player.

Scorer of 26 goals in 61 internationals for Portugal - with whom he was a EURO 2004 runner-up - Postiga has also had stints at Tottenham Hotspur, Saint-Etienne, Panathinaikos and Sporting Lisbon.

He most recently netted 23 goals in 70 La Liga outings for Zaragoza, who were relegated last season.

Shakhtar swoop for Bernard

Shakhtar Donetsk have added to the Brazilian contingent in their squad after signing Bernard from Mineiro for a reported €25 million.

The midfielder, 20-year-old and already a senior international, has agreed a 5-year contract with the Ukrainian title holders as they continue to strengthen ahead of the Champions League group stages. He becomes Mircea Lucescu's 4th Brazilian summer signing after Fernando, Wellington Nem and Fred.

Predominantly a left-sided player, Bernard is known for his pace, vigour and small frame - he is just 1.64m tall. He made the first of 62 league appearances for Atletico Mineiro in March 2011 and within 6 months he was in the Brazil squad.

He has since played 5 times for the national team and was part of the Mineiro side - alongside Ronaldinho - that clinched the Copa Libertadores in July.

Barrios leaves China for Spartak

Spartak Moscow have agreed a deal to sign Paraguayan striker Lucas Barrios from Guangzhou Evergrande for a fee of €7 million.

The 28-year-old's switch will be completed upon agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

Barrios moved to China in May 2012 after winning the Bundesliga, but struggled to hold down a regular place with the run-away Chinese Super League leaders, despite a decent return of 13 goals in 32 appearances.

The striker had claimed in an interview with German magazine Kicker earlier this year that he had not been paid on time by Guangzhou and that he was looking to cancel his contract in order to return to Germany.

The Chinese club riled at the claims, which were investigated by FIFA.

Rolando joins Inter on loan



Inter Milano have completed the loan signing of FC Porto defender Rolando.

The Cape Verde-born 27-year-old has been with the Portuguese side since 2008 and has experience of playing in Serie A, having been on loan at Napoli last season.

Before moving to Estadio Dragao, Rolando, who has 18 caps for his country, enjoyed a 4-year stint at Belenenses.

During his spell at Napoli under Mazzarri last season, he made just 7 appearances, including 2 in the Europa League.

Norwich complete Elmander loan deal

Norwich City have confirmed the signing of Johan Elmander from Galatasaray on a season-long loan.

The 32-year-old Sweden international striker returns to English football 2 years after leaving Bolton Wanderers for Turkey.

Elmander has played 52 games for Galatasary in all competitions, but the opportunity to return to the Premier League was impossible to turn down.

During his previous spell in English top flight Elmander scored 18 goals, and he is looking forward to get back among the goals for Chris Hughton's side.

Taider delighted with Inter switch

Algeria international Saphir Taider has expressed his delight after securing a 4-year deal at Inter.

The 21-year-old emerged on manager Walter Mazzarri's radar after impressing during his 2 years with Bologna.

He enhanced his reputation with a goal on his international debut in a World Cup qualifier against Benin in March, having previously represented France, the country of his birth, at youth level.

The move to the 18-times Italian champions marks a new milestone for the midfielder.

"I am very happy and I want to thank Bologna and Inter for giving me this opportunity", he told Sky Sport Italia.

"I'm happy, Inter are a great team that have won everything."
