Cleverley seals permanent Watford switch

Tom Cleverley has agreed to join Watford on a permanent deal from Everton on 1 July.

The former Manchester United midfielder has been on loan at Walter Mazzarri's side this season, making 20 appearances in all competitions.

And the 27-year-old is thrilled to have secured a permanent move to Vicarage Road on a 5-year deal after the club exercised an option on a transfer.

Cleverley was named Watford's Player of the Season at the end of a loan spell in the 2009-2010 campaign, in which he scored 11 goals in 35 appearances.

Watford face rock-bottom Sunderland on Saturday looking for a win to at least maintain their 6-point gap to the Premier League relegation places.

Bentancur undergoes Juventus medical

Boca Juniors midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is undergoing a medical with Juventus ahead of his proposed move to the Serie A champions.

Juventus had an option to sign the 19-year-old for a set fee of €9,4 million to be exercised before 20 April 2017, as part of the deal that saw Carlos Tevez move in the opposite direction in July 2015.

Chief executive Giuseppe Marotta recently stated they planned to use their option to buy Bentancur and they are now set to act on that promise.

Bentancur came through the ranks of the Boca youth academy and made his first-team debut in April 2015, going on to establish himself as an important squad member.

Leipzig complete Mvogo signing

RasenBallsport Leipzig have completed the signing of goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo from Young Boys.

Mvogo will link up with the Bundesliga club at the end of the season after agreeing a 4-year contract with Ralph Hasenhuttl's side.

The 22-year-old, who has made 145 senior appearances in 6 years at Young Boys, is excited about the new challenges ahead.

"The change to this ambitious club is a logical step for me", Mvogo said.

"At the same time, it will be difficult for me to leave the Young Boys."

Bayern sign Coman

Bayern Munchen have announced that they have signed Kingsley Coman from Juventus in a permanent deal worth €35 million.

The France international forward has signed a contract until June 2020 after Bayern agreed to pay the €21 million fee required to buy him outright.

Coman joined Bayern on a 2-year loan deal in 2015, with the Bundesliga champions possessing the option to finalise a permanent deal at any time before 30 April.

The total cost of the transfer includes the two instalments of €7 million Bayern paid to Juve during the loan.

There had been reports in France that the 20-year-old was having second thoughts about the prospect of committing his long-term future to the Allianz ArenA.

He has made 23 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring twice.

Benatia agrees permanent deal with Juve

Juventus have converted Medhi Benatia's loan from Bayern Munchen to a permanent deal worth €17 million.

Benatia initially moved to the Serie A champions on a temporary basis ahead of this season, and has since made 18 appearances across all competitions.

He has agreed a deal until June 2020, with the fee to be paid to Bayern over 2 years.

With Giorgio Chiellini, Andrea Barzagli and Leonardo Bonucci forming Juve's fearsome first-choice back three, Benatia has had to settle for a marginal role as the club fight for the Treble.

On Sunday, Benatia will face old club AS Roma, where a win will see Juve claim a record-breaking 6th successive Scudetto and what the Old Lady hopes will be the first leg of a remarkable Treble.

Everton agree terms with Sandro

Everton have reached personal terms with Malaga forward Sandro Ramirez, according to The Times.

Atletico Madrid and FC Sevilla are also interested in the former FC Barcelona youngster, according to the report, but the 21-year-old is claimed to have informed Everton that he wants to move to the Premier League.

According to The Times, the Spain U21 international forward has a release clause of £5 million.

Sandro is a very good forward and has a lot of potential, and for just £5 million, the youngster would be a bargain signing for Everton.

The former Barca forward has scored 14 goals and provided 2 assists in 28 La Liga appearances for Malaga so far this season.

Werder agree Gondorf signing

Werder Bremen have agreed a deal that will see Jerome Gondorf join from SV Darmstadt ahead of the 2017-2018 season.

Gondorf was a central figure in Darmstadt's back-to-back promotions as they rose from the third tier to the Bundesliga, making 136 appearances over 4 seasons.

The 28-year-old has opted to move on following their relegation this term, though no details of his contract with Werder were released by the club.

Brighton make Gross first EPL signing

Brighton & Hove Albion have confirmed the club's first Premier League transfer, with Pascal Gross set to join from FC Ingolstadt subject to international clearance.

The 25-year-old midfielder signed a 4-year deal with the club after an undisclosed fee was agreed with Ingolstadt, who have been relegated from the Bundesliga.

Gross created more chances (95) than any other player in the Bundesliga this season and he is set to complete his move to Brighton on 10 June, when the transfer window opens.

Brighton secured promotion to the Premier League for the first time in the club's history after finishing second behind Newcastle.

Juventus complete Cuadrado signing

Juventus have paid €20 million to sign Juan Cuadrado from Chelsea on a 3-year deal after terms regarding a permanent transfer included in his loan move were met.

Cuadrado has spent the past 2 seasons on loan at Juve having failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge after arriving from Fiorentina in January 2015.

The Colombia international returned to Chelsea in July 2016 before another temporary switch to the Turin giants was agreed, and those terms have resulted in his switch being been made permanent.

Cuadrado has made 83 appearances for the club, the latest of which came in the 3-0 victory over Crotone that secured Juve's historic 6th successive Scudetto.

Juve will win a first Treble in their history if they beat Real Madrid in the Champions League Final in Cardiff on 3 June, and the 28-year-old has missed just one match in their European campaign.

Lopez seals permanent Espanyol switch

Espanyol have signed goalkeeper Diego Lopez on a permanent basis from AC Milan following a successful season on loan in La Liga.

The 35-year-old has signed a 3-year deal, tying him to Espanyol until June 2020, with a buyout clause of €50 million.

Lopez made 35 appearances for Quique Sanchez Flores' team in Spain's top flight this term, conceding 38 goals and keeping 11 clean sheets.

Piatti completes permanent Espanyol switch

Espanyol have triggered an option on Pablo Piatti's loan deal from Valencia to secure his services on a 3-year contract.

The 28-year-old spent the 2016-2017 season at Estadio Cornella-El Prat, featuring in 30 La Liga matches and scoring 10 goals.

That temporary arrangement had a clause to make the move permanent and Espanyol confirmed his capture on Wednesday for a total cost of €1,5 million.

Piatti's contract has a temination clause of €30 million.

The Argentinian - who has one cap for his country - had fallen down the pecking order at Valencia, the club he joined from Almeria in 2011.

Monaco sign Tielemans

AS Monaco have completed the signing of Youri Tielemans from Anderlecht for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of €23 million.

The 20-year-old midfielder is regarded as one of the biggest talents around in his age category and had also been linked with clubs such as Manchester United, Inter Milano and Atletico Madrid in recent months, but Monaco have won the race for his signature.

Anderlecht general director Herman Van Holsbeeck already announced earlier this week that the Belgium international was on his way to the Ligue 1 champions and he has now signed a contract with Monaco until June 2022.

Tielemans came through the ranks of the Anderlecht youth academy and made his first-team debut at the tender age of 16.

He had since developed into a key figure at the Brussels giants, making over 150 appearances in all competitions for the club.

The Belgium international scored 13 goals in 37 league appearances this term to help Anderlecht to the Belgian title.

West Ham snap up Zabaleta

West Ham have announced the signing of full-back Pablo Zabaleta on a 2-year deal.

The Argentina international will join the club on 1 July, once his contract with Manchester City expires.

He is the first signing made by Slaven Bilic since the end of what was a difficult 2016-2017 season, in which West Ham finished 11th in the table.

Zabaleta, who joined City from Espanyol in 2008, made 32 appearances in all competitions under Pep Guardiola this season.

The 32-year-old won 2 Premier League titles, 2 League Cups and the FA Cup with City.

City set to sign Bernardo Silva

Manchester City are set to complete a £43 million deal to sign Portugal attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva from French champions AS Monaco.

The 22-year-old will join City on 1 July, with the club set to announce the transfer later on Friday.

Silva has made 58 appearances for Monaco this season - including two against City in the Champions League - scoring 11 goals and 12 assists.

He has played 12 times for Portugal, scoring once.

Pep Guardiola's City finished third in the Premier League this season, securing Champions League football next year.

Silva was integral to the Monaco side that reached the semi-finals, suffering eventual defeat to Juventus.

Monchengladbach sign Grifo

Vincenzo Grifo has signed a 4-year deal with Borussia Monchengladbach following an excellent season with SC Freiburg.

The 24-year-old helped Christian Streich's men into a Europa League qualifying spot, finishing above Gladbach on their return to the Bundesliga.

His contribution of 6 league goals from midfield caught the eye of Borussia's sporting director Max Eberl enough to prompt a switch, which will be completed on 1 July.

"Vincenzo Grifo has developed in a really interesting way in the last couple of years in Freiburg", said Eberl.

"He played a key role in their outstanding season and will make us much more flexible going forward next season. We're really pleased to be able to bring him to Gladbach."

Begovic swaps Chelsea for Bournemouth

Asmir Begovic became the second player to leave Chelsea on Tuesday as he penned a long-term deal with fellow Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth.

The experienced goalkeeper followed Dominic Solanke out of Stamford Bridge, the young striker moving north to sign for Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

During his two seasons at Chelsea Begovic made 33 appearances across all competitions, keeping 10 clean sheets, and claimed a Premier League title winners' medal as Antonio Conte's side were crowned champions.

With Thibaut Courtois the clear number 1 for the Blues, Begovic has opted to move to the Vitality Stadium to get regular first-team football.

Begovic - a former loanee at Bournemouth - will battle with Artur Boruc and Adam Federici for a starting berth under Eddie Howe.

Best 15 signings of the season

When clubs delve into the transfer market in search for new players, more often than not they take huge gambles. It is difficult to predict how a player will perform and sometimes individuals can wilt under the pressure of a price tag.

However, some clubs manage to get it right and their acquisitions justify the fee their services commanded, while others unearth bargains who go on to take their league by storm.


15. BAS DOST (VfL Wolfsburg to Sporting Lisbon, €10 million)
Sporting landed themselves one of the deals of the season when they brought Dutch striker Bas Dost to Portugal from the Bundesliga. The 28-year-old bagged an amazing 34 goals in 31 league appearances and was narrowly pipped to the European Golden Shoe by Lionel Messi. Dost's form in the Primeira Liga has led to interest from the Premier League, with a number of clubs said to be keen on the forward.


14. DJIBRIL SIDIBE (Lille to AS Monaco, €15 million)
AS Monaco's attacking prowess this season was one of the main reasons why they won Ligue 1 and progressed so far in the Champions League. While Kylian Mbappe and Radamel Falcao may have hogged the headlines, that swashbuckling style was made possible by the likes of flying full-back Djibril Sidibe, who formed part of a strong defence, but also contributed going forward, chipping in with his fair share of assists. In hindsight, €15 million is a relative steal.


13. NABY KEITA (RB Salzburg to RasenBallsport Leipzig, €12,7 million)
RasenBallsport Leipzig played the role of rowdy upstarts in the Bundesliga this season and one of their key men was 22-year-old midfielder Naby Keita, who was brought in from Salzburg. The Guinea international scored 8 goals and provided 7 assists as Leipzig finished second to Bayern Munchen. His industrious displays have unsurprisingly earned plenty of admirers, with Liverpool among the clubs looking to secure his services.


12. GONZALO HIGUAIN (Napoli to Juventus, €90 million)
Despite virtually guaranteeing goals wherever he goes, the Argentina international still has plenty of detractors and eyebrows were raised when Juventus paid an eye-watering €90 million to Napoli for him. However, he has come up with the goods, scoring 24 times in Serie A and hitting a crucial double to help propel the Bianconeri into the Champions League Final.


11. SADIO MANE (Southampton to Liverpool, €41 million)
Liverpool opened the chequebook to land the Senegal international from Southampton and he quickly established himself as an integral part of Jurgen Klopp's team as they secured Champions League football for next season. Mane was involved in 18 league goals - nearly a quarter of their total tally - and his worth was made abundantly clear when the team slumped in his absence.


10. OUSMANE DEMBELE (Rennes to Borussia Dortmund, €15 million)
With 12 assists and 6 goals in his first season in the Bundesliga, the 20-year-old has forced Europe to sit up and take notice. Brought to the Signal Iduna Park for just €15 million from Rennes, the midfielder was a key component as BVB won the DFB Pokal, scoring the winner in the semi-finals against Bayern Munchen and hitting the opener in the Final against Eintracht Frankfurt.


9. VICTOR WANYAMA (Southampton to Tottenham Hotspur, €14,5 million)
Mauricio Pochettino's side may be able to lay claim to the title of England's most exciting team, but, while Dele Alli, Heung-min Son and Harry Kane hog the limelight, Wanyama quietly does the proverbial dirty work. The Kenya international featured in the majority of Spurs' games and scored 4 goals, including one against Manchester United in the final game at White Hart Lane.


8. HENRIKH MKHITARYAN (Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United, €42 million)
His Manchester United career got off to a slow start, but Mkhitaryan gradually evolved into one of Jose Mourinho's most reliable performers. The 28-year-old's impact was felt most in the successful Europa League campaign, in which he scored 6 goals in 11 games, including one in the Final against Ajax.


7. DAVID LUIZ (Paris Saint-Germain to Chelsea, €35 million)
There were groans of apprehension when Chelsea splashed out to bring the Brazil international back to the club from Paris Saint-Germain after an error-strewn maiden stint, but it proved to be a shrewd move in the end. The 30-year-old was the rock upon which Antonio Conte built a watertight, league-winning defence.


6. MIRALEM PJANIC (AS Roma to Juventus, €32 million)
Juventus sold Paul Pogba to Manchester United for a world-record fee and his departure was barely felt as they brought Pjanic in from AS Roma for a fraction of the price. The Bosnian wasted no time settling in to his new surroundings and was instrumental in their Serie A title win as well as their run to the Champions League Final. The 27-year-old set up 9 league goals for the Bianconeri and bagged 8 for himself in all competitions.


5. EDIN DZEKO (Manchester City to AS Roma, €11 million)
Having spent last year on loan at AS Roma from Manchester City, Dzeko made his move permanent at the start of this season and it resulted in his best ever campaign. The 31-year-old scored 39 goals in all competitions and chipped in with plenty of assists while he was at it. Dzeko's remarkable improvement on his first year in the Eternal City was one of the chief reasons Roma ran Juventus so close for the Serie A title this term.


4. BENJAMIN MENDY (Olympique Marseille to AS Monaco, €13 million)
Like Djibril Sidibe on the right, Mendy performed an admirable role on the left flank for Monaco as they swept to Ligue 1 glory and the Champions League semi-finals. The 22-year-old full-back did well going forward, contributing a total of 8 assists, including 3 in the Champions League. Unsurprisingly, his form has attracted attention from a host of big clubs, with Manchester City and Liverpool among those vying for his signature.


3. DANIEL ALVES (FC Barcelona to Juventus, free transfer)
FC Barcelona were made to rue the loss of the Brazilian full-back on a free as he cruised past them into the Final of the Champions League. As Barca contend with chronic right-back issues, the 34-year-old showed he still has plenty to offer with 2 assists and a thumping volleyed goal in the semi-finals tie against AS Monaco.


2. ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC (Paris Saint-Germain to Manchester United, free transfer)
Despite everything he has achieved in the game, Ibrahimovic arrived in the Premier League with no shortage of doubters, but he quickly set about proving his critics wrong. The 35-year-old hit 28 goals in all competitions before succumbing to a knee injury. While there may be concerns over his capacity to come back from that blow, the former FC Barcelona and Juventus striker certainly represented one of the best transfers of the season.


1. N'GOLO KANTE (Leicester City to Chelsea, €36 million)
After playing a crucial part in Leicester's fairytale Premier League title triumph, the France international reprised that role with Antonio Conte's Chelsea this season. The 26-year-old doesn't score or set up many goals, but his positional awareness helps to break up opposition attacks while instigating counters. A haul of individual awards accompanied his second successive league-winners medal, showing just how effective an acquisition he was.

The worst 10 transfers of the season

The start of each season is a time of silliness and expectation as clubs splash hideous amounts of money on new signings. Supporters get excited at the thought that their team may have picked up the next big thing.

However, the reality is often much different as players struggle for different reasons to hit the ground running or live up to their billing.


10. GABRIEL BARBOSA (Santos to Inter Milano, €29,5 million)
The Brazil international arrived at Meazza from Santos to plenty of fanfare, with an expectant Nerazzurri fanbase hoping that the comparisons to Neymar were well founded. However, just one goal in 9 Serie A appearances later suggests that they landed a flop. There is still time for the 20-year-old, but as they look to catapult up the table, Inter may not have the patience to indulge the youngster.


9. ANDRE SCHURRLE (VfL Wolfsburg to Borussia Dortmund, €30 million)
The World Cup winner signed for Borussia Dortmund for a considerable fee after an amazing season at Wolfsburg, but he could not replicate that form at Signal Iduna Park. The former Chelsea star made just 8 starting appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring a measly 2 goals as Dortmund finished behind RasenBallsport Leipzig and Bayern Munchen.


8. RENATO SANCHES (Benfica to Bayern Munchen, €35 million)
Considered one of the brightest prospects in European football after a successful European Championship campaign with Portugal, much was expected of the former Benfica youngster. The 19-year-old featured mainly from the substitutes bench and doubts linger over Sanches' ability to step up as Carlo Ancelotti ponders how to strengthen his Bayern midfield following the retirement of Xabi Alonso.


7. ANDRE GOMES (Valencia to FC Barcelona, €35 million)
Portugal international Andre Gomes showed glimpses of the ability that saw the Blaugrana fork out €35 million for his services, but he was largely disappointing in what was a thoroughly underwhelming season. The 23-year-old came to Camp Nou with a European Championship winners medal, but Barca fans will expect much more of him next season.


6. ISLAM SLIMANI (Sporting Lisbon to Leicester City, €30 million)
A relatively late addition to Claudio Ranieri's Premier League winning team, Slimani arrived in England boasting a fearsome goal-scoring record with Sporting Lisbon. The Algeria international hit 27 goals in 33 games the season before joining the Foxes and there were high hopes that he would take the pressure off Jamie Vardy in attack. Unfortunately for Leicester fans, he didn't quite live up to the billing, scoring 7 in 23 league games.


5. LUCAS PEREZ (Deportivo La Coruna to Arsenal, €20 million)
The Spanish striker scored 7 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners, including 3 in 3 Champions League games, but he made no impact in the Premier League as Arsene Wenger's men failed to secure a place in next season's Champions League. After a frustrating debut season, the €20 million attacker has been linked with an immediate move away.


4. VINCENT JANSSEN (AZ Alkmaar to Tottenham Hotspur, €20 million)
He was dubbed "the new Ruud van Nistelrooy" by the Dutch media, but Vincent Janssen's first season at Tottenham was an unmitigated disaster. The 22-year-old was forced to play second-fiddle to star man Harry Kane for most of the season, but even when he did play, he struggled to hit the back of the net. 2 goals - one of which was a penalty - in 27 Premier League appearances says it all.


3. JESE RODRIGUEZ (Real Madrid to Paris Saint-Germain, €25 million)
Once a highly-rated squad member at the Santiago Bernabeu, Jese's career took a serious nosedive when he transferred to Paris Saint-Germain for the hefty sum of €25 million. The 24-year-old forward started just one Ligue 1 game for PSG before moving on loan to Las Palmas, where he seems to be much more at home.


2. CLAUDIO BRAVO (FC Barcelona to Manchester City, €18 million)
Pep Guardiola brought the Chilean goalkeeper in as an integral part of the vision he had for Manchester City, but the qualities that convinced the Premier League side to pay nearly €20 million for his services were completely absent. Error after error forced the former Barca and Bayern coach to drop the shot-stopper as he flopped in his first year in England.


1. MICHY BATSHUAYI (Olympique Marseille to Chelsea, €39 million)
He may have scored the goal that clinched the Premier League title for Antonio Conte's side, but Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi looks nothing like a €40 million striker, so far. The 23-year-old started just one league game for the Blues, who were lucky enough to possess the firepower of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard in attack.

Arsenal confirm Kolasinac signing

Arsenal have announced the signing of defender Sead Kolasinac, who is to join the club from Schalke.

The left-back is expected to arrive on a free transfer at the beginning of next month once his contract with the Bundesliga club expires.

Kolasinac is the first Gunners signing since manager Arsene Wenger decided to sign a new 2-year contract last month.

The 23-year-old joined the Schalke youth system in 2011 before making his Bundesliga debut in September 2012. He went on to make a total of 123 appearances for the club.

The Bosnia international is reportedly to earn £7,5 million per year during his spell with the Gunners.

Dortmund sign Philipp

Borussia Dortmund have signed Germany U21 international midfielder Maximilian Philipp from SC Freiburg for a reported €20 million fee.

Dortmund announced the 23-year-old's signing on Wednesday, with Philipp having agreed a 5-year contract for Peter Bosz's side.

He played 25 times for 7th place Freiburg in last season's Bundesliga, scoring 9 goals including one in a 3-1 away defeat to Dortmund in September.

Philipp will represent Germany at the U21 Euros and then take a 3-week break before joining up with his new team-mates.

Semedo joins Villarreal

Villarreal have announced the signing of Ruben Semedo from Sporting Lisbon on a 5-year deal.

The centre-back has completed a move to La Liga for a reported fee of €14 million.

The Portuguese club are said to have demanded that a 20% sell-on clause is included in the 23-year-old's contract.

Semedo had been heavily linked with Premier League sides Newcastle and Southampton in recent weeks.

It was reported in England and Semedo's homeland that Newcastle were firm favourites to sign the Portugal international, but grew frustrated with Sporting's demands relating to a sell-on clause.
