Falcao joins Rayo Vallecano



Rayo Vallecano have confirmed the signing of Radamel Falcao.

The Colombia international left Galatasaray on Wednesday when his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

The 35-year-old's move back to La Liga had been on the cards since his departure and Vallecano confirmed the news on Saturday.

Vallecano, who gained promotion back to the Spanish top flight by winning the Segunda Division play-offs, announced that the striker has joined the club.

They did not reveal how long his contract will last, but reports suggest it is a one-season deal.

Besiktas land Pjanic on loan

FC Barcelona have announced the loan of Miralem Pjanic to Besiktas on Thursday as their squad trimming continues.

Pjanic follows Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann, Ilaix Moriba and many others out of Camp Nou with the club desperate to clear wages and reduce debt.

The midfielder spent just one season in Spain following his arrival from Juventus last summer.

Besiktas announced on their official website that they will pay €2,7 million in order to secure the player.

His loan runs until next June.

The 31-year-old made just 6 domestic starts last year as injuries and poor form kept him out of Ronald Koeman's plans.

PSG sign Nuno Mendes on loan

Paris Saint-Germain have closed a loan deal for Sporting Lisbon left-back Nuno Mendes, while PSG midfielder Pablo Sarabia went the other way and joined Sporting on loan.

The highly-rated left-back has swapped Portugal for France on the final day of the summer transfer window, with a move to Parc des Princes from Estadio Jose Alvalade.

The 19-year-old has joined on a season-long loan that will include a purchase option for the Ligue 1 giants.

After confirming the arrival of Mendes, PSG announced that Spanish midfielder Sarabia had joined Sporting on a season-long loan.

The 29-year-old joined PSG from FC Sevilla in 2019 and played in 79 matches with the Ligue 1 side, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists.

Everton to sign Mykolenko

Everton are set to announce the signing of Ukrainian left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko, with his current Dynamo Kiev manager confirming a deal has been done with the Premier League club.

The 22-year-old looks set to make a £17 million move to Merseyside in January, with major doubts over the future of current star Lucas Digne.

Dynamo coach Mircea Lucescu has confirmed the Ukraine international is on his way to Goodison Park.

He made the announcement by admitting he is glad Mykolenko is leaving, but out of pride for how far he has come.

He also admits his exit will present an opportunity for other young aspiring stars to make their name at the club.

Mykolenko has arrived as a potential replacement for Lucas Digne, who has gone from being one of Everton's best players to being frozen out by current manager Rafa Benitez.

Reports have claimed Digne and Benitez's relationship is "at the point of no return" after a falling out between the player and manager.

This has led to Digne being dropped out of the squad, while he was reportedly sick in recent weeks.

Genoa strike deal for Young Boys defender Hefti

Genoa have reportedly agreed a €5 million deal with Young Boys for right-back Silvan Hefti, who will fly in for his medical tomorrow.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia, the two clubs have reached an agreement and the medical will be over the next 48 hours.

The 24-year-old is primarily a right-back, but can also play in central defence.

He is yet to represent Switzerland at senior level, despite working his way up through the various youth teams.

Hefti joined Young Boys in September 2020 from FC San Gallo and so far this season has made 29 competitive appearances.

These saw him contribute 2 goals and 4 assists, as he found the net in the thrilling 3-3 Champions League draw with Atalanta on 23 November.

It was because of that performance he was also linked with Atalanta in the January transfer window.

New Genoa coach Andrey Shevchenko had said he wanted to bring in reinforcements that could allow for a switch to a 4-3-3 formation, having inherited a squad made for Davide Ballardini's 3-5-2 tactical approach.

Rafinha to join Sociedad on loan

Former FC Barcelona star Rafinha looks set to return to La Liga during the January transfer window.

Rafinha came through Barca's La Masia academy having arrived as a youngster from Brazil.

He went on to make 56 La Liga appearances for Barcelona, also spending 2 loan spells with Celta Vigo and one with Inter Milano.

Rafinha joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2020, and he has since made 28 league appearances.

But he now looks set to return to La Liga on a loan deal, with opportunities likely to be scarce at PSG for the rest of this season.

It's claimed the midfielder will join La Real on loan until the end of the season with no option to buy.

Real Sociedad are expected to pay part of Rafinha's wages and it may well be worth the investment given their decline over recent weeks.

Fiorentina announce Ikone



Fiorentina have officially announced the arrival of French winger Jonathan Ikone.

The Viola have signed the 23-year-old Frenchman on a 5-and-a-half year contract from Lille in a deal worth around €14 million. He will be unveiled by the Florence side in a press conference tomorrow and he will take the number 11 shirt.

Ikone previously played for Paris Saint-Germain and Montpellier and has already racked up 157 appearances and 13 goals in Ligue 1.

The winger also has 4 senior France caps and one goal to his name.

Napoli sell Manolas to Olympiacos

Napoli defender Kostas Manolas has completed his transfer to Olympiacos for a reported €2,5 million plus bonuses.

The centre-back had officially been in Greece since yesterday due to "personal reasons", but reports quickly emerged that he had a medical with Olympiacos this morning.

That was confirmed when fans gathered in thousands outside the club headquarters and the club released a video of Manolas waving to the supporters with an Olympiacos scarf around his neck.

According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla, the cost of the operation was €2 million plus €1 million in bonuses.

Manolas also gave up his December salary, which handed Napoli €400,000 as well.

It's reported they had asked Manolas to wait until the Christmas break to make this move, but he was determined to come back home to Greece.

This is about love and family, not money, as his salary at Olympiacos will be less than half of his current Napoli wage.

The 30-year-old had arrived from AS Roma in 2019 for €36 million, but never really made his mark there or gelled fully with Kalidou Koulibaly.

It is a return to Olympiacos, where Manolas played from 2012 to 2014.

Newcastle signs Trippier

Newcastle United have agreed a fee in the region of £12 million, plus add-ons, with Atletico Madrid for Kieran Trippier.

The England international is now set to travel to Tyneside for a medical, with personal terms not thought to be a problem.

Atletico hoped Trippier would stay, but the defender made it clear he wanted to return to England.

The 31-year-old will become the first signing of Newcastle's Saudi-backed regime.

Magpies boss Eddie Howe worked with Trippier while in charge of Burnley, signing the right-back from Manchester City in January 2012 after an impressive loan spell at Turf Moor.

Newcastle's owners hope to recruit at least 3 more players this month as they look to keep the club in the Premier League.

They are second-bottom in the table having played 19 matches in the league this season, 2 points from safety.

Piatek joins Fiorentina on loan

Following a passed medical, Fiorentina officially confirmed the capture of Hertha striker Krzysztof Piatek on Friday evening.

After 2 calendar years, Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek is headed back to the Serie A. The 26-year-old returns to the league where he spent parts of 3 seasons with Genoa and AC Milan.

Piatek joined Genoa in 2018 scoring 19 goals in 21 appearances with the club.

He completed a €30 million move to AC Milan in January 2019 and managed 16 goals in 41 appearances with the Rossoneri.

The center forward, for whom Hertha paid €24 million to purchase from AC Milan in the January 2020 transfer window, leaves Germany having scored just 13 goals across all competitions for Die Alte Dame in the last 24 months.

Coutinho joins Aston Villa on loan

Philippe Coutinho has joined Aston Villa on loan from FC Barcelona until the end of the season according to a club statement. The agreement is subject to him obtaining a work permit and passing a medical - he'll travel to Birmingham in the coming hours.

Coutinho will join Villa until the end of the season, with an option to buy included of £33 million according to Phil McNulty. It's an option to buy, however, not an obligation.

It's understood that Villa will pay 65% of his wages, and the presence of his former Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard in the Villa dugout is thought to have been key in his decision.

But Coutinho also has his mind on the Brazilian national team. The 28-year-old wants to make it into Tite's squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and he needs to be playing much more often than he currently is if he's to do that. Brazil are pretty good.

Barcelona will be delighted to have finally sealed the deal. They signed Coutinho for a club-record fee from Liverpool in January of 2018, but the playmaker has never performed at Camp Nou.

By getting his wage off the books, the powers-that-be at Barcelona have freed up the financial space they needed to register Ferran Torres, who they've signed from Manchester City.

Onana to have Inter medical today

Andre Onana is expected to undergo his medical with Inter Milano today before signing the 5-year contract, as he'll be a free agent from Ajax.

The goalkeeper's current contract in Holland is due to expire in June and he has for many months confirmed he won't pen an extension.

According to L'Equipe, later confirmed by Sportitalia, Sky Sport Italia and more, Onana will be in Italy today for his medical tests.

This comes after Inter informed Ajax via email that they have agreed personal terms with the shot-stopper, a necessary step in the process of signing someone who will soon be a free agent.

Onana agreed a deal with Inter last year, despite some reports that FC Barcelona or Arsenal were back in the running.

The 25-year-old will sign a 5-year contract, then fly out to take place in the African Cup of Nations with Cameroon.

He'll join Inter from 1 July, replacing Samir Handanovic, and is set to earn €3 million per season.

Maitland-Niles joins Roma on loan

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is expected in Rome today and according to Sky Sport Italia, he will make his Serie A debut on Sunday against Juventus.

The Giallorossi have registered the player's contract on the Lega Serie A system, so the 24-year-old has formally joined the club on a dry 6-month loan.

This means Roma do not have an option or an obligation to sign the player on a permanent deal from Arsenal in June.

The versatile English defender underwent his medicals in Rome on Wednesday and will land in Italy today.

According to Sky Sport Italia, he is ready to play and is likely to start Roma's next Serie A game against Juventus.

Rick Karsdorp saw red against AC Milan yesterday, so Maitland-Niles will immediately step up to replace the Dutchman, according to the report.

The 24-year-old played his last competitive game on 20 November in Arsenal's 4-0 defeat against Liverpool.

Wood to undergo medical at Newcastle

Chris Wood is travelling to the North East to undergo a medical with Newcastle, who have met the striker's release clause in the region of £20 million.

Newcastle have moved swiftly to replace top scorer Callum Wilson, who head coach Eddie Howe said would be out with a calf injury for 2 months after Saturday's shock FA Cup third round defeat to Cambridge United.

Wood has been a key striker for relegation rivals Burnley, sitting just above Newcastle on goal difference in the bottom 3, but the 30-year-old had a clause in his contract allowing him to leave Turf Moor if a specific fee is tabled.

The New Zealand international, with 3 goals for Burnley this season, has vast experience of playing in the Premier League and could slot into the starting line-up as Newcastle prepare for a crucial home match with Watford on Saturday.

United loan Tuanzebe to Napoli

Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has officially joined Napoli on loan until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old arrived in Naples yesterday and the Partenopei have registered his contract on the Lega Calcio system as a temporary transfer.

Napoli pay €600,000 for the player’s loan until the end of the season plus €200,000 depending on the defender's appearances this season and a further €400,000 if Luciano Spalletti's men finish in the top 4 this season.

The Partenopei do not have an option to make the player's move permanent at the end of the season.

Tuanzebe spent the first part of the season on loan at Aston Villa, playing 11 games across all competitions.

Digne joins Aston Villa

Aston Villa have agreed a fee with Everton for left-back Lucas Digne worth up to £25 million.

It follows several days of negotiations, in which Villa have beaten off interest from Chelsea, Newcastle and West Ham.

Digne is due in Birmingham later on Wednesday to undergo a medical.

The 28-year-old, who has 3-and-a-half years remaining on his Everton contract, told the club he wants to depart Goodison Park this month.

Digne has been out of the Everton side after a much-publicised falling out with Benitez over tactics and addressing the matter last week, their manager confirmed that the defender had told the club he wants to leave.

Everton sign El Ghazi on loan



Everton have signed Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi on loan until the end of the season.

El Ghazi becomes Everton's third signing of the January transfer window after the arrivals of Ukraine left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko and Scotland right-back Nathan Patterson.

The former Ajax player will wear the number 34 shirt for the Toffees and is eligible for Saturday's Premier League trip to Norwich City.

El Ghazi had been used solely as a substitute since manager Steven Gerrard arrived at Villa Park in November, and competition for places has only intensified for the Dutchman this month following the arrival of Philippe Coutinho.

The 26-year-old has scored just one goal in 9 Premier League appearances this season.

Villa signed El Ghazi initially on loan from Lille in 2018, before making it permanent a year later after he scored a vital goal in the play-off Final win over Derby County to secure Premier League promotion.

Sevilla signs Corona

FC Sevilla have confirmed a new signing ahead of their Copa del Rey derby clash with Betis. Los Nervionenses have today announced the signing of Porto winger Jesus Corona.

Sevilla were in need of attacking reinforcements after losing Erik Lamela to a long-term injury, while striker Youssef En-Nesyri is off competing at the African Cup of Nations.

Julen Lopetegui also has an issue at right-back with Jesus Navas, who is also struggling with injury.

With that in mind, Sevilla have snapped up Corona, who can play as both a winger and a full-back.

Corona had just 6 months remaining on his deal with FC Porto, where he has been since 2015, and Sevilla have been able to snap him up on a reported fee of €3 million.

The 29-year-old joins on a contract until the summer of 2025 and will link up with his new team-mates straight away having already arrived in Seville earlier this week.

Shakhtar signs Neres

Ajax and Shakhtar Donetsk have reached an agreement for the transfer of David Neres. The transfer to the Ukrainian club is effective immediately.

The winger was still under contract with Ajax until June 2023. Ajax will receive a sum of €12 million for the transfer. That amount can increase to €16 million depending on variables.

Neres joined Ajax from Sao Paulo during the winter break in the 2016-2017 season. On 26 February 2017 he made his debut for the first team during the match between Ajax - Heracles. The Brazilian played a total of 180 official matches for Ajax's first team and scored 47 goals.

With Ajax, Neres won the domestic double twice, in 2019 and 2021. In 2019, he also won the Johan Cruijff Shield.

Lille sign Ben Arfa on free transfer

Lille have signed midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa on a free transfer, with the former France international signing a 6-month contract, the Ligue 1 club announced on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old, who previously played for Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyon, had been without a club after leaving Girondins Bordeaux at the end of last season.

Ben Arfa played 15 times for France, scoring twice.

Champions Lille are 10th in Ligue 1 on 29 points after 20 matches. They host Lorient later on Wednesday.

Sevilla sign Martial on loan



FC Sevilla have completed the signing of Anthony Martial on loan from Manchester United.

The 26-year-old joins the La Liga side - who will pay his wages in full - until the end of the season. There is no loan fee involved.

Martial flew from Paris to Seville on Tuesday to undergo a medical.

The forward always wanted to join Sevilla this month, despite interest from Juventus and FC Barcelona, because he believes that is where he will play the most.

Martial became the world's most expensive teenager when he joined United from AS Monaco in 2015 and went on to score 79 times in 269 appearances for the club.

But he fell out of favour in the forward positions following the signings of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho in the summer, as well as the emergence of Mason Greenwood.

Martial has started just 4 games for United this season, and was accused by Ralf Rangnick, the club's interim manager, of asking not to play in the 2-2 draw at Aston Villa on 15 January.

Juventus agree fee for Vlahovic

Juventus have agreed a €75 million fee with Fiorentina for striker Dusan Vlahovic, according to Sky in Italy.

Vlahovic will sign a 4-and-a-half year contract worth €7 million per year with Juventus.

Juventus and Fiorentina had been in negotiations for some time over a fee for Vlahovic and have finally agreed a price.

Fiorentina want to sell the 21-year-old Serbia international, who is keen to make the move to Turin, this month to maximise their profit, as he has just 18 months remaining on his contract.

Vlahovic came to prominence last season when he scored 21 goals in 40 appearances for Fiorentina, and has continued his impressive form with 20 goals in 24 games in all competitions this campaign.

Inter sign Gosens on loan

Robin Gosens is expected to have his Inter medical tomorrow after the club agreed a €25 million including bonuses deal with Atalanta.

Multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia, Tuttomercatoweb and more all confirm the two sides have struck a deal for the transfer.

It was effectively already done last night, but the final details were whittled down today, with Atalanta receiving €22 million plus €3 million in bonuses.

It will be a loan deal with obligation to buy, therefore allowing Inter to spread the cost out over two or more seasons.

His intermediary and agents were seen entering the Inter headquarters this afternoon, where they will get the contract written up for a reported €2,5 million per season plus bonuses.

German international wing-back Gosens should have his medical on Thursday before completing the transfer.

Newcastle had been offering more both in terms of transfer fee to Atalanta and salary to Gosens, of circa €3,5 million per season, but the player was never particularly intrigued by the idea of joining the Magpies.

Fiorentina signs Cabral

Fiorentina have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Arthur Cabral from FC Basel for €14,5 million plus €2 million add-ons. The 23-year-old will replace Dusan Vlahovic.

Sky Sport Italia reports the Brazilian striker is on the verge of moving to Stadio Artemio Franchi after Fiorentina and Basel reached an agreement over his transfer fee.

Cabral has scored 14 goals in 18 Swiss Super League games this season and has 27 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions.

Basel will earn €70% of the fee while Cabral's former clubs in Brazil, Palmeiras and Ceara, will get 15% each.

Cabral has already said goodbye to his team-mates in Basel and will sign a contract until 2027 at Artemio Franchi.

Atletico signs Wass

Atletico Madrid have announced the signature of Daniel Wass. Los Rojiblancos have signed the Danish international from Valencia on a contract that will run until the summer of 2023.

Diego Simeone was keen to bring in another right-back after losing Kieran Trippier to Newcastle earlier in the window. Wass, 32-year-old, is versatile and can play in midfield and defence.

Wass began his career with Brondby before joining Benfica. He came to Spain with Celta Vigo in 2015 after a spell in France with Evian. He spent 3 years in Galicia before joining Valencia.

Atletico need him. The reigning champions are currently 4th in La Liga but only a point ahead of fifth place FC Barcelona, who they play next at Camp Nou. Betis are 4 points away in third although they've played a game more than Atletico.

Given Wass was going to see his contract at Wanda Metropolitano expire in the summer, Valencia will consider it good business to have secured a fee, however small, for him.

Caicedo undergoes Inter medical

Felipe Caicedo is on the verge of joining Inter on loan from Genoa and has already begun his medical with the Nerazzurri.

Caicedo arrived at the Humanitas clinic in Rozzano this morning to undergo the first part of his medical examinations with the Serie A champions.

The former Lazio striker joins Inter on a dry loan deal until the end of the season.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter will pay a salary of €750,000 until June, which is how much they've saved from Stefano Sensi's loan to Sampdoria.

Caicedo will give more depth to Simone Inzaghi's attack, given that Joaquin Correa has been ruled out of action for at least one month.

Liverpool agree deal to sign Diaz

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign FC Porto winger Luis Diaz ahead of Monday's transfer deadline, GOAL can confirm.

The Reds launched a surprise late bid for the Colombia international, who had until recently been expected to join Tottenham Hotspur.

Jurgen Klopp's side will pay an initial fee of €45 million, with an extra €15 million in performance-related add-ons.

Liverpool were initially looking to strike a summer deal for Diaz, but have brought forward their interest after Spurs accelerated theirs.

Diaz has twice played against the Reds this season in the Champions League for Porto, and though Liverpool won both games comfortably, it is understood that their scouts have been impressed by his progress.

His arrival will boost Klopp's attacking options significantly heading into the final months of the season, with Liverpool still fighting in 4 competitions. Diaz will join Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota in competing for striking places, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has performed well there in recent weeks.

Arsenal agree summer transfer for Turner

Arsenal have reached an agreement with the New England Revolution to sign United States national team goalkeeper Matt Turner this summer, GOAL can confirm.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a stellar 2021 for club and country and will now look to compete against Gunners starter Aaron Ramsdale with Bernd Leno's future in doubt.

Turner was the 2021 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year after leading the Revolution to the Supporters' Shield last season, which has captured the attention of clubs in Europe.

Turner starred at the Gold Cup last summer in his first major opportunity to stake his claim to the number 1 goalkeeper role for the USMNT. His strong play between the posts helped his side win the tournament - and beat Mexico in a Final for the second time in 3 months.

He has made 13 international appearances since earning his first USMNT cap in January 2021.

Guimaraes completes Newcastle medical



Newcastle United are extremely close to completing a £40 million move for Bruno Guimaraes.

Guimaraes completed a medical in his homeland of Brazil after Newcastle agreed a package of £33,3 million plus £6,5 million in add-ons with Olympique Lyon to sign the midfielder.

The midfielder will play for Brazil on Wednesday and will not be able to travel to the UK to meet his new team-mates and head coach Eddie Howe until Thursday at the earliest.

Guimaraes has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Lyon this season, registering 6 assists. He has 3 caps for the Brazil national team.

Tottenham agree deal to sign Kulusevski

Juventus will loan Dejan Kulusevski to Tottenham Hotspur for €5 million with obligation to buy for a further €35 million if they qualify for the Champions League and other conditions are met.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the two clubs stepped up negotiations on Saturday evening and came to an agreement late into the night.

Time is of the essence ahead of Monday's transfer deadline, so Kulusevski will fly out to London first thing Sunday morning for his medical and to sign the contract.

It will be a 5-month loan for €5 million, with option to buy that becomes an obligation if Tottenham qualify for the Champions League and Kulusevski plays in at least half the games for the rest of this season.

Sportitalia and Gazzetta dello Sport transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla claims the deal also includes €4-5 million in bonuses, so the total cost of the operation could be closer to €45 million.

That would be €10 million more than Juventus paid to get Kulusevski from Atalanta in January 2020, despite the fact his transfer value has if anything dropped since then due to some relatively disappointing performances.

Newcastle agree fee for Dan Burn

Newcastle United have agreed a fee of £13 million with Brighton & Hove Albion for defender Dan Burn.

The defender is set to travel to the North East to undergo a medical. Newcastle had a second bid of £10 million plus add-ons for Burn rejected on Saturday.

The Magpies have wanted to sign a left-footed centre-back all window to partner Jamaal Lascelles.

The 29-year-old has entered the final 18 months of his Brighton contract. Burn, who joined Brighton from Wigan Athletic in 2018, can also play left-back. The Seagulls are extremely unlikely to sign a replacement centre-back this window.

Juventus to sign Zakaria

Juventus and Borussia Monchengladbach have agreed the details of the deal that will see Denis Zakaria move to Turin.

The 25-year-old Swiss midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Bianconeri for a number of weeks now and the Turin side are keen to secure his signature this month, 6 months before his contract expires with the Bundesliga side. They want to avoid a possible bidding war in the summer and aren't keen to let the opportunity pass by.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus have agreed a €5 million deal with Borussia Monchengladbach for Zakaria, not including add-ons. Whilst the figure is low, it does prevent the German side from losing him on a free transfer in June, when he'll become a free agent.

The Swiss midfielder is set to receive a 4-and-a-half year contract worth €3 million net per season.

Massimiliano Allegri gave the green light to the deal; he was happy with the squad currently available to him but is also happy to receive a reinforcement.

Burnley sign Weghorst

Burnley have signed striker Wout Weghorst from VfL Wolfsburg on Deadline Day for a fee understood to be around £12 million.

Weghorst, who has scored 6 goals in 18 Bundesliga appearances this season, has signed a 3-and-a-half-year deal after completing a medical on Sunday.

The Holland international comes in as a replacement for Chris Wood, who joined relegation rivals Newcastle earlier in the window.

Weghorst, capped 12 times by his country, has scored 59 goals in 118 Bundesliga appearances for Wolfsburg over the past 3-and-a-half seasons.

He has also scored more than 50 goals in the Eredivisie during spells at Heracles and AZ Alkmaar prior to his move to Germany.

Van de Beek joins Everton on loan

Donny van de Beek is undergoing a medical in Liverpool ahead of his loan move to Everton from Manchester United.

The Holland international's wages will be paid in full by the Toffees, who will not have an option to make his move permanent.

Crystal Palace and Valencia were also in talks to sign Van de Beek during the January transfer window, but he has opted for a switch to Goodison Park.

Van de Beek has struggled to break into the first team at Old Trafford since a £39 million move from Ajax in the summer of 2020.

He has been a largely peripheral figure under both current interim manager Ralf Rangnick and former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite a goalscoring debut for the club.

It is thought Van de Beek felt let down by Solskjaer after he had given him assurances over playing time.

But Van de Beek has also struggled to make an impact under Rangnick, having been restricted to just 380 minutes of action this season without starting a Premier League match.

He has just 2 goals and 2 assists to his name in 50 United appearances.

Brentford sign Eriksen on a 6-month deal

Christian Eriksen has signed for Brentford on a six-month deal, making a remarkable return to the Premier League just 7 months after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Eriksen left Inter Milano in December by mutual consent after being suspended by the Italian medical authority from playing in Serie A due to a rule prohibiting the use of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) device he has had fitted.

The 29-year-old had the ICD fitted after he suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark's EURO 2020 match against Finland in Copenhagen. He has completed all the necessary medical checks and is fit to return to football.

Eriksen moves to Brentford with a strong Danish connection at the club. Manager Thomas Frank, who coached Eriksen as Denmark U17 coach 13 years ago, and international team-mates Christian Norgaard and Mathias Jensen are among many known to the midfielder.

It is not illegal in the UK for Eriksen to play with an ICD and he will become the first ever to play with one in the Premier League.

Everton sign Alli

Dele Alli has joined Everton permanently from Tottenham Hotspur in a deal that could cost up to £40 million.

Alli has joined the Toffees on a 2-and-a-half-year deal as he looks to reignite his stalling career at Goodison Park.

The potential £40 million transfer fee will be structured based on performance-related add-ons.

Alli leaves Tottenham after 7 years at the club after he joined from MK Dons in February 2015 for just £5 million.

He made 269 appearances in all competitions for Spurs and scored 67 goals, including 51 in the Premier League.

The England midfielder won back-to-back PFA Young Player of the Year awards for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons and also helped Spurs to reach their first Champions League Final in 2019.

But Alli has failed to continue that success in recent seasons with his career stagnating in north London.

He has struggled to make an impact this campaign under new Spurs head coach Antonio Conte, having made just 6 appearances in all competitions since the Italian arrived in November.

Mainz and Crystal Palace complete Mateta sale

6 months before his extended loan deal was set to expire, French attacker Jean-Philippe Mateta is officially an Eagle of South London. FSV Mainz sent the 24-year-old (at that time the club's leading scorer) over to the Isle last January during the darkest hours of their relegation fight.

From the very beginning, it was reported that both clubs intended to make the arrangement permanent at some point. In addition to a large loan-fee, the contract was widely thought to contain an obligatory purchase clause.

Multiple sources report that the German club will receive something in the neighborhood of €11 million on the final sale.

This is certainly lower than the reported upon €13-15 million purchase clause.

Rangers sign Ramsey on loan

Aaron Ramsey has joined Glasgow Rangers on loan from Juventus for the rest of the season.

Ramsey's move is viewed as a major coup for the Scottish Premiership leaders, with Juventus cooperating on wages to ensure he fits into the Ibrox side's wage structure.

The Wales international who has scored 20 times in 71 games for his country was also of interest to several Premier League clubs.

Ramsey - who made 83 appearances for Juventus - could make his Rangers debut at Celtic on Wednesday.
