Becker to miss European SuperCup
Alisson Becker was forced off in Liverpool's opening Premier League game of the season with a calf injury and will now miss Wednesday's European SuperCup Final.
The European champions were 3-0 up against Norwich City when Becker went down after his left leg buckled as he prepared to take a 36th-minute goal kick.
The Brazil international was replaced by Adrian del Castillo, who was handed a surprise debut for his new club after only joining Liverpool earlier this week as a free agent following his release from West Ham at the end of last season.
Liverpool went on to beat Norwich 4-1, and after the game manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed Becker will miss the European SuperCup against Europa League winners Chelsea in Istanbul on Wednesday night.
"It's a calf injury", Klopp said.
"He felt as if something hit him from the back. He won't be ready for Wednesday, I can say that already."
"It is not good but we will find a solution and move on", added the German.
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has been shortlisted alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for the men's UEFA Player of the Year award.
The talismanic centre-back helped guide the Reds to European Cup glory, keeping a clean sheet as Jurgen Klopp's men defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in Madrid.
The winner wil be announced on 29 August during the Champions League draw in Monaco.
Messi, the top scorer in the Champions League, won the European Golden Shoe as he picked up his 10th La Liga title at Camp Nou.
Ronaldo also claimed domestic glory, helping Juventus lift the Serie A title during his maiden season in Italy.
The nominees were shortlisted having been selected by a jury consisting of the 80 coaches who competed in last season's Champions League and Europa League, as well as 55 journalists.
Brewster makes Liverpool squad
Teenage striker Rhian Brewster is in Liverpool's squad for their Champions League group game against Napoli, with injured Divock Origi missing out.
The Champions League holders begin the defence of their 6th European Cup title in Naples on Tuesday at the San Paolo stadium. Also in Group E are Belgian side Genk and Austrian club Salzburg.
Brewster, 19-year-old, has not been included in a Premier League matchday squad this season. His only first-team involvement this term has been in the 22-man UEFA SuperCup squad.
But Origi's injury against Newcastle in Saturday's 3-1 win at Anfield increases the likelihood of Brewster's involvement against Napoli with Liverpool short on back-up striking options.
Origi was taken off after suffering an ankle injury in Saturday's 3-1 win at Anfield. But Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has allayed fears of a lengthy spell on the sidelines for fan-favourite Origi.
Mbappe to miss Real Madrid tie
Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has revealed on social media that he will not play in his side's Champions League clash against Real Madrid on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old picked up a hamstring injury and was forced off against Toulouse late last month and has not featured for the French champions since.
Thomas Tuchel is also missing Neymar, with the Brazillian carrying over a 3-game ban after his post-match reaction following PSG's defeat to Manchester United in the round of 16 last season.
Mbappe and Neymar's striker partner Edinson Cavani and midfielder Julian Draxler are both unavailable too, with the duo carrying knocks.
Real have their own problems with captain Sergio Ramos and Nacho both ineligible for the match through suspension, while the likes of Eden Hazard, James Rodriguez and Brahim Diaz have only recently returned from injury.

Champions League Final hosts announced
The 2021, 2022 and 2023 UEFA Champions League Final venues have been decided.
These decisions were taken by the UEFA Executive Committee at its Tuesday meeting in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana.
The 2021 edition will be the second Final to be staged in Russia. The first, between Manchester United and Chelsea at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium in 2008, ended in an epic penalty shoot-out won by Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
The 2022 season will conclude at the Allianz ArenA in Munchen, 10 years after the stadium last hosted the showpiece. Bayern were involved on home soil on that occasion, eventually losing to Chelsea on penalties.
The 2023 Final will be the eighth to be played at Wembley Stadium; the UEFA Champions League trophy was most recently held aloft there in 2011 and 2013, by FC Barcelona and Bayern respectively.
The EURO 2020 semi-finals and Final are also taking place at Wembley.

UEFA bans Ajax fans from Chelsea game
UEFA has banned Ajax fans from the Champions League game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 5 November following crowd trouble in their fixture at Valencia.
The ban comes following a suspended sentence imposed after Ajax's Champions League game against Benfica last season.
Ajax were also handed a fine of €50,000 for the disturbances, and warned a further one-match ban could be imposed on selling tickets to their away supporters if they offend during a probationary period of one year.
An additional fine of €18,000 was also handed to the Dutch side for "improper conduct of the team".
Ajax have requested additional information from UEFA and have the right to lodge an appeal against the sanctions.
Zinchenko misses Atalanta game through injury
Manchester City have confirmed that Oleksandr Zinchenko missed his side's Champions League tie with Atalanta with a knee injury.
The club have said the Ukrainian will be assessed over the coming days to determine the extent of the problem.
Zinchenko has made 9 appearances so far this season, having played 29 times during their title-winning campaign last year.
Benjamin Mendy has returned to the squad after his injury and he came in at left-back for the game at the Ethiad Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Insigne to miss Napoli's UCL tie against Liverpool
Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne has been ruled out of their Champions League group game with Liverpool on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old played 65 minutes of Napoli's 1-1 draw with AC Milan at the weekend but will be unavailable for this game after picking up an elbow injury.
Napoli secured a 2-0 victory over Liverpool in the reverse fixture in Naples earlier in the season.
Jurgen Klopp's side have leapfrogged Napoli since that defeat and sit one point above them in Group H.
Insigne has 6 assists and scored 4 goals in 15 appearances in all competitions this campaign, including one in the Champions League.
Carlo Ancelotti's side are on a run of 6 games without a win and need a victory at Anfield on Wednesday to reach the knockout stages.
