Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti still believes Ronaldinho will wear the Rossoneri jersey next season. The coach is so confident, he is looking at different tactical systems to deploy if the Brazilian arrives.

The Rossoneri will now try again and they are hoping the Brazilian magician arrives at San Siro. Ancelotti still believes ‘Dinho will come despite the problems surrounding the deal.

“I can see the Brazilian (Ronaldinho) play alongside Kaka, Pirlo and Seedorf,” Ancelotti told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

“We haven’t bought him just yet but let’s see how it goes.

“We are currently looking for someone like Ronaldinho and we have discussed this with the club many times.

“If he arrives then we will have to change our tactics and deploy a 4-3-1-2 system. Or maybe we can adapt to our Christmas tree formation as this has worked well in the past.

“As for Kaka, he is still the best in the world and he will continue to be for us.”

Milan are still on the hunt for ‘Dinho but Emanuel Adebayor’s possible move to San Siro has put the Brazilian affair on hold.

With Carrlo Ancelotti determined to land his man, Ronaldinho is likely to sign for Milan as there are not many clubs out there looking to take a gamble with the player.

Ancelotti explains Dream Team


Carlo Ancelotti has explained precisely how he’ll field Ronaldinho, Alexandre Pato, Kaka, Clarence Seedorf and Andrea Pirlo together.

Milan are struggling to overcome Arsenal’s £31m price-tag for Emmanuel Adebayor and therefore turning their attention back towards Barcelona outcast Ronaldinho, although that will take some tactical reshuffling from the Coach.

“We agreed to sign either a striker or a Trequartista. It makes no difference to me, we’d just change the system,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Aside from the tactics, it is a question of studying the movement of the three forwards. Pippo Inzaghi and Marco Borriello have the characteristics to stay up there alone, but Pato does not.

“This means he would have to adapt and learn many new things. He is young, so I don’t think there will be problems in that sense. It will take time, but he’ll do it, I can guarantee that.

“Kaka is the best player in the world, so I wouldn’t dream of changing his position or characteristics. Kaka will do what he always has done, following his instinct and his quality.”

Seedorf complained last season when he was forced into wide midfield positions, but with Ronaldinho coming in would be pushed out yet again.

“Seedorf is an intelligent man and a very useful player,” noted Ancelotti. “He can play as a Trequartista and a pure midfielder. There are no problems.”

The midfield has also been reinforced with the arrival of Mathieu Flamini on a free transfer from Arsenal, while the Coach assures Emerson has overcome his injury woes.

The defence was the shakiest area of Milan’s squad last term, but there is only one big signing, Gianluca Zambrotta from Barcelona.

“He is a great full-back who can play on the right or the left. He’s not exactly young, but he is very reliable. On the left we have Marek Jankulovski as well as Giuseppe Favalli, while Massimo Oddo has the opportunity to prove himself on the right after a below par campaign.

“Plus we have brought back Luca Antonini, a youngster who really impressed when out on loan and is a valuable alternative for defence or midfield.”

As Milan are out of the Champions League, the club must inevitably turn its attention towards recapturing the Scudetto for the first time since 2003-04.

“It is our primary objective. We all want to prove ourselves after missing out on Europe and nobody liked that turn of events. It will be an unusual year and we’ll fight on three fronts – Serie A, the UEFA Cup and Coppa Italia. Milan will be centre stage.”

Seedorf hints at Prem move

Seedorf, under contract with the Rossoneri until 2011, has revealed being a Premier League fan and the man with 12 titles claims a move to England is a possibility for him.

“I’d always love to come and play in The Premier League, but things just don’t happen like that,” Seedorf said. “I’ve never touched The Premier League yet, but let’s say we never know.

“Opportunities come and go, when I was close to coming to England with Manchester United or Arsenal when I was at Sampdoria I went to Real Madrid.

“You cannot go everywhere; I’ve been playing in Spain and Italy. For now I’m in Italy and I’m always following with a very special eye the movement in The Premier League because at the moment it’s an example for everybody.”

Lloris explains AC Milan refusal



Highly rated French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has explained his decision to snub Milan to join Lyon.

The impressive 21-year-old custodian had been touted as a possible replacement for the error-prone Nelson Dida between the posts for Milan.

However, Lloris opted to leave Nice for French champions Lyon after considering an offer from the Diavolo.

“Of course Milan were a great opportunity for me,” he told Nogomania.

“We all know that they are one of the best clubs in the world, but everything got complicated about my role in the club.

“They couldn’t guarantee that I will play on a regular basis. And they have six goalkeepers at Milan, so that tells you everything.

“In the end, Lyon came in for me and this club were my big wish. I want to win Ligue 1 and I think this is the best step for me in my career.”

It is believed that Christian Abbiati’s decision to stay at Milan, rather than joining Palermo, will prevent the world champions from signing a new shot-stopper this summer.

Milan Resurrect Drogba Interest




AC Milan have resurrected their interest in signing Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

Chelsea striker Drogba has been strongly linked with a transfer away from Stamford Bridge for several months now, and he has been widely tipped to move on to pastures new in the summer.

For a long time Milan had been one of the favourites to snap up the Ivory Coast international, however recently they appeared to drop all intentions to sign him.

The Rossoneri are desperate to buy a top class centre forward this summer, and their primary aim had been Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor.

However the asking price of Adebayor, around 40-45 million euros, has scared Milan off. Yesterday it was reported that Chelsea had entered the race for the former Monaco man, and Roman Abramovich would have no problem paying such a sum of money.

If Adebayor were to arrive at Stamford Bridge, it would almost certainly signal the end of Drogba’s Chelsea career. Furthermore the West Londoners would be willing to let the 30-year-old go at a cut-price, which is where Milan, who are struggling for funds due to the Italian cash crisis, would step in.

Milan withdraw from Adebayor race

Milan have conceded defeat in the race to sign Emmanuel Adebayor as they cannot match his asking price, with the development seemingly leaving Barcelona in pole position to sign the Arsenal striker.

Adebayor hinted at the weekend that a move to Barcelona would be preferable given their participation in the Champions League and Milan have now made his quandary much easier by withdrawing their interest in protest at his possible transfer fee.

Rossoneri vice president Adriano Galliani rued the fact that Serie A sides cannot compete at the top end of the market when announcing that Adebayor was no longer a target.

“Adebayor is overridden by continuous requests for €45 million (£35.6 million), these figures are impossible for clubs in Italy,” Galliani told the Italian press.

“In fact, the top footballers in the world do not come here any more.

“When big clubs like Barcelona and Chelsea arrive it is impossible to compete, because they have a much more advantageous fiscal situation.”

Milan have now turned their attentions back to Ronaldinho, who has also been in talks with Manchester City after being told he has no future at Barcelona.

The Italians will not be able to match City’s wage structure for the Brazil international but Galliani has not given up hope of signing the player who looked distinctly overweight during a recent charity game.

Galliani added: “Ronaldinho? There is a chance. We will see Barcelona’s economic demands and evaluate.

“I saw him play the other night, he seems to me to have put on weight but there is always talent.”

Inzaghi Wants Serie A, UEFA Cup & 300 Goals






Prolific Milan striker Pippo Inzaghi has identified three main targets for next season, and they are to win Serie A, the UEFA Cup and to reach the personal milestone of 300 goals.

This coming season Milan are looking to rectify these wrongs, and Inzaghi has set himself some ambitious targets.

“The title will be our objective, just like the UEFA Cup, which Milan are lacking and must be honoured,” the legendary marksman told Mediaset.

“This group has won two Champions Leagues and one Scudetto – it would be good to even the totals up.

“We will be focused on the two targets. Inter are the strongest side, but we will have to see. The derby will be as good as ever.

“Am I scared of the Jose Mourinho effect? I can’t judge Mourinho because I don’t know him.

“But we are very happy with Carlo Ancelotti, who is a great Coach and a great person.”

Inzaghi is one of the most prolific strikers in the history of the beautiful game, and last year overtook German great Gerd Muller as the all-time top scorer in European competitions.

“The UEFA Cup also counts for records and now that I have overtaken Muller I intend to defend the record,” SuperPippo promised.

“It would be a shame not to after 30 years of fighting to reach it.

Berlusconi Dreams Of Cristiano Ronaldo

The Rossoneri are currently in the hunt for some fire power up front and they have been chasing Emanuel Adebayor and Ronaldinho.

They have not joined the race to sign Ronaldo but Berlusconi junior admits that it would be a dream to have him at San Siro.

“Cristiano Ronaldo would be a dream but it would be a crazy idea and in football, the time of crazy ideas is over,” Berlusconi Jr told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

“To be honest, I believe that Milan are doing fine as they are but maybe a striker is needed.

“It doesn’t matter which striker comes in as we already have plenty of great players in that department.

“Brazilian Ronaldo? I don’t know if he will wear the Milan shirt again in future. It all depends on him and his ability to get back into shape.”

The Rossoneri have been unwilling to spend the money recently and this has lead to a group of fans plan a revolt against Silvio Berlusconi.

The fans have become fed up with the way the club has not invested recently and they are demanding for serious action.

Milan will need to ensure they bring in at least a striker this summer if they are to compete next season.

De Assis: 90 Percent Chance Ronaldinho Will Sign For Milan

In an exclusive interview with Telelombardia e Antenna 3, Ronaldinho’s brother and agent, Roberto De Assis, admitted, "Yes, it is true. There is a good probability that my brother will obtain a transfer to Milan - let’s say between 80-90%.

"The important thing is that he is healthy now and working for the future."

De Assis added, "Yet it is true, it is possible that he will arrive at Milan, everything is ready."

Chelsea Make Huge Offer For Kaka

European and World Footballer of the Year Kaka has consistently been the subject of multi-million pound bids from Chelsea and Real Madrid over the past few years, however Milan have repeatedly stated that the Brazilian is not for sale.

Galliani has revealed that the Rossoneri have received yet another huge offer for their star player.

"For Kaka, a really big offer has arrived from Chelsea," said Galliani to La Stampa, before also revealing that their had been a number of offers for midfield creator Andrea Pirlo.

The 29-year-old’s agent was quoted in the press as saying that his client deserved to be paid the same amount of money as Kaka.

The Brazilian currently earns a reported €7.5m a year, while the Italian, despite being a virtual irreplaceable figure at the club, picks up almost half of this, earning €4m.

Torino Dream Of Borriello Capture

The Granata’s main plague for the past few seasons has always been the lack of a real striker who can bag in more than 10 goals per season.

For this reason, De Biasi, along with president Urbano Cairo, have been searching the transfer market for a player who corresponds to these characteristics and they have come up with a name: Borriello.

Reports in both England and Italy claimed that Chelsea were interested in making a mega swoop for the Brazilian star.

Sky Sports News claimed that Chelsea never offered Milan anything for Kaka and Galliani has now cleared up the confusion.

“I am not sure if they would have offered us €94m.

Galliani Refuses Pirlo Pay Rise

Pirlo’s current deal at the Stadio Meazza runs until 2011, however his agent has been very vocal in the press over the past week, claiming that the midfielder deserves a better wage packet.

The 29-year-old currently earns around 4 million euros a year, while team-mate Kaka picks up almost double this figure at 7.5 million.

“If Pirlo was for sale, all the best clubs in the world would be after him,” Tullio Tinti told Mediaset.

“Andrea has a top-player wage but this year, Kaka has been given figures much higher than Pirlo. I believe that the top-players should be treated the same more or less.

“I don't think this will lead to falling out with Milan. Galliani understands and he is sensible when it comes to the transfer market. He also knows when a player is worth plenty and how to treat him.”

However it appears that Galliani has been less than understanding to Pirlo’s requests. Tinti met with the transfer guru yesterday morning to discuss his client’s salary, and told him that Barcelona and Real Madrid had shown an interest in Pirlo. Galliani seemed indifferent to what Tinti had to say and refused any possibility of a pay rise.“

Pirlo? He is a Milan player and has three years on his contract,” stated Galliani.

“There is nothing new and nothing more to say.”

It remains to be seen how Pirlo reacts to this news, particularly considering the reported interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Zambrotta: Scudetto The Priority

The 31-year-old ended his two year experience in La Liga when he completed his move to Milan for around €9.5m.

Milan Vice Presdient Adriano Galliani has hailed the purchase of the versatile Zambrotta, saying it was like signing two full backs.

"I thank Galliani, but in truth, I prefer playing on the right, which is where I played in the two years at Barcelona,” the Italy international told the Corriere dello Sport.

“I only played on the left for the national team, when it was necessary.”

Zambrotta was asked about the possible signing of his former Barca team-mate Ronaldinho, and he believes the Brazilian can be a big asset if he can get himself in shape.

"If Ronaldinho can find his best form, he can return to being a decisive player who makes the difference," he noted.

Finally the former Juventus star was asked to explain why Milan have struggled so badly in Serie A recently, having obtained 49 points less than city rivals Inter in the last two years.

"In the last two seasons Milan have focused on other goals such as the Champions League and the Club World Cup. This year, however, the championship will be the real priority,” he concluded.

Adebayor To Milan For €30m Plus Gourcuff

The proposed move of Adebayor to Milan has become one of the main transfer sagas of the summer. Yesterday the Rossoneri claimed to have received a letter from Arsenal saying that the Gunners were now prepared to discuss a deal for the Togo striker.

This was later followed by a statement from the Arsenal chairman, Peter Hill-Wood, insisting that the Londoners were hoping to keep Adebayor.

Despite Hill-Wood’s assertions, the Italian press strongly believes that the 24-year-old will indeed be joining Milan, and the latest claims are that the clubs have come to an agreement over a transfer fee.

The Rossoneri will pay €30m in cash, and will also throw in €8m rated France Under-21 international Yoann Gourcuff as part of the deal.

Gourcuff joined Milan in 2006, and was regarded as one of the best young talents in the whole of the Europe. However, the 22-year-old has failed to impress, and indeed has already been loaned out to Bordeaux for next season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is a huge admirer of the attacking midfielder, and it seems the inclusion of Gourcuff in the deal has swayed him to accept Milan’s offer.

Gourcuff will not arrive at the Emirates Stadium until his loan spell at Bordeaux ends in June 2009, but Adebyaor will immediately move to San Siro.

Milan general manager Adriano Galliani is said to be hopeful of completing the transfer by next Wednesday (July 16).

Storari Reveals Milan Crisis

The former Messina shot stopper signed for Milan last year but he was immediately shipped out to Spanish club Levante on loan.

He then moved to Cagliari in January as the Spanish side couldn’t afford to pay his wages due to financial difficulties.

Storari was superb as the Sardianian’s miraculously saved themselves from relegation, but he has now returned to Milan. The 31-year-old is likely to find himself as the club’s fourth choice between the sticks, behind Zeljko Kalac, Christian Abbiati and Nelson Dida, and it is a situation that troubles him.

“On July 16 I will be present for Milan’s first pre-season session, but I already know what my role will be,” Storari told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I am the fourth goalkeeper, but there is no chance of going back to Cagliari because they have Federico Marchetti joining from Albinoleffe and he is a great goalkeeper.”

Storari added that he is considering moving back to Spain as he struggles to find a new club.

“It’s a crisis for me,” he moaned.

“I don’t know why I can’t find a team. There was contact with Chievo and I have heard talk about Juventus and Fiorentina, but I need to be playing at the age of 31.

“Maybe it would be better to go abroad again. In Spain I let in many goals, but I made a good impression.”

Milan call off talks for Adebayor

The latest quotes attributed to AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani suggest the Rossoneri have broken off discussions with Arsenal for Emmanuel Adebayor.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim it is now Ronaldinho and not Adebayor who is most likely to arrive at the San Siro this summer.

Galliani has maintained throughout that Arsenal's €45 million valuation of Adebayor is above and beyond what Milan are willing to pay but when the official divulged the contents of a letter which stated The Gunners' willingness to negotiate, hopes were raised of a deal.

Dinho To Skip Training & Join Milan

Ronaldinho’s proposed transfer to the Rossoneri has become something of a saga this summer, but it seems as if the soap opera has finally reached its last episode.

The 28-year-old is angry with his club for refusing him permission to play with Brazil at this summer’s Olympics, and according to O Globo, the Gazzetta dello Sport and El Mundo Deportivo, the player will use this as an excuse to execute FIFA’s Article 17 whereby he will buy himself out of his contract.

This would mean that Milan would not have to shell out the €25m or so that Barcelona are demanding for Ronaldinho.

Milan general manager is currently in Catalonia finalising the transfer, and it is expected that Ronaldinho will officially be a Rossonero player within 48 hours.

In order to speed up the move, the Brazilian will refuse to turn up to pre season training with the Blaugrana tomorrow, with his brother and agent, Roberto De Assis, instead demanding an immediate transfer. Barca, who are currently engrossed in some internal conflict, are unlikely to put up much of a fight.
