Arsenal sweat over Cazorla injury
Santi Cazorla has damaged ligaments in his knee, it was claimed on Tuesday.
The Arsenal midfielder picked up the injury during the 1-1 draw at Norwich City on Sunday when he clashed with Gary O'Neil in the second half.
Cazorla had already been ruled out of the the Gunners' Premier League game against Sunderland on Saturday and next Wednesday's crucial Champions League showdown with Olympiacos.
The Spaniard could be out for longer, although Arsenal have yet to confirm the exact length of his absence.
Cazorla completed the full 90 minutes against Norwich and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger did not know whether the 30-year-old had suffered ligament damage or merely a kick on the nerve.

Gary Cahill has signed a new 4-year contract with Chelsea that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2019.
The England centre-back arrived at Stamford Bridge from Bolton Wanderers in January 2012 and has gone on to win Champions League, Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup medals.
Cahill has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea this season.
West Ham striker Diafra Sakho is to undergo surgery on his thigh injury on Saturday and is expected to miss around 3 months of action.
Sakho limped out of last Sunday's 1-1 draw at home to West Bromwich with the problem, before West Ham manager Slaven Bilic initially suggested the forward would miss up to 8 weeks.
However, the 25-year-old met with specialists this week and will go under the knife at the weekend ahead of a likely return to action in early March.
West Ham take on Manchester United at Old Trafford this weekend looking to end a run of 4 Premier League games without victory.

Danny Ings will not play again this season, after the Liverpool forward suffered another injury setback.
Ings was dealt a cruel blow when he injured his cruciate knee ligament after appearing to be settling at Anfield following his off-season move from Burnley.
The 23-year-old had initially hoped to be back in action within 6 months but has since been advised by specialists the first prognosis had been too optimistic.
Ings sustained the long-term injury while training at Melwood in October, less than 2 weeks after scoring in the Merseyside derby against Everton.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed midfielder Santi Cazorla could be sidelined for up to 4 months after rupturing a lateral collateral ligament in his knee.
Wenger said Cazorla opted to undergo surgery over the weekend after injuring himself during Arsenal's 1-1 draw at Norwich City on 29 November.
Cazorla missed Saturday's 3-1 win over Sunderland and the 30-year-old is facing at least 3 months out.

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku said it was a proud moment to score his 50th goal for the club but was disappointed they could not secure the 3 points against Crystal Palace on Monday.
Lukaku was making his 100th appearance for the Merseyside club and celebrated the milestone with another as he reached 50 goals in all competitions.
It was also the fifth successive Premier League game in which the 22-year-old has scored in.
Everton's next fixture is away to Norwich City in the league on Saturday.
West Ham have suffered another injury blow after attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini was ruled out for up to 6 weeks with a thigh problem.
The 22-year-old missed Saturday's 0-0 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford after picking up the problem in training and now faces a period of rehabilitation.
Having undergone a scan on Monday, West Ham confirmed on Tuesday that he had been diagnosed with a quadriceps injury that will keep him out of action over the busy festive period of matches.
7th place West Ham are without a win in 5 matches and host Stoke City in the Premier League on Saturday.
Garry Monk has parted company with Swansea City after a dismal run of form that has left the Welsh club perilously close to the Premier League relegation zone.
Swansea were beaten 3-0 at home by high-flying Leicester City on Saturday, meaning they have won only one of their last 11 top flight fixtures and sit just one point clear of danger.
And former club captain Monk has paid the price for their woeful recent results, with a Swansea statement released on Wednesday confirming the 36-year-old's departure.
Everton defender Brendan Galloway has put pen-to-paper on a new 5-year contract.
The 19-year-old signed an initial deal until 2019 when he joined from Milton Keynes Dons last year but his new terms will keep him at Goodison Park until 2020.
Galloway has stepped in at left-back for Roberto Martinez this term, due to injuries to Leighton Baines and Bryan Oviedo, with his impressive form earning an England U21 call-up.
Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has accepted a charge of violent conduct for his altercation with West Ham defender Winston Reid and will serve a 3-match ban, the Football Association (FA) has confirmed.
The Germany international was charged on Monday after he appeared to strike New Zealand centre-back Reid with his forearm during last weekend's 0-0 Premier League draw at Old Trafford.
Referee Mark Clattenburg and his assistants did not spot the clash during the match, but the FA took retrospective action after taking a dim view of the incident.
Schweinsteiger will miss United's Premier League games against AFC Bournemouth, Norwich City and Stoke City, meaning he will next be available for the visit of champions Chelsea on 28 December.
The 31-year-old has struggled for consistency since joining from Bayern Munchen in the close-season.
Jamie Vardy's stellar season continued as the Leicester City striker picked up consecutive Premier League Player of the Month awards, while Claudio Ranieri scooped the manager's accolade.
Vardy took the October award after scoring 5 times in 4 matches, and has become just the fifth player to win back-to-back Player of the Month prizes after Robbie Fowler, Dennis Bergkamp, Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Kane.
November saw Vardy net in all 3 of Leicester's games - his opener in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United setting a new Premier League record of scoring in 11 consecutive matches.
That run came to an end in Leicester's 3-0 win at Swansea City last weekend, but Vardy's season tally of 14 is three more than Romelu Lukaku in second place.
It was a double success for Leicester, who saw Ranieri take the manager's award.
Leicester defeated both Watford and Newcastle, before the draw with United at the end of the month. Last Saturday's win at Swansea saw the club rise to the Premier League's summit, ahead of a meeting with reigning champions - and one of Ranieri's former clubs - Chelsea on Monday.

Chelsea have parted company with manager Jose Mourinho by mutual consent after weeks of intense speculation over his future.
The defending Premier League champions suffered a fifth defeat in their last 7 Premier League games against Leicester City on Monday, after which Mourinho said he felt "betrayed" by his players.
Although Chelsea finished top of their Champions League group with a 2-1 victory over FC Porto last week, the 2-1 loss at Leicester leaves them 16th in the Premier League table and just one point above the relegation zone after 16 matches.
- Mourinho took charge of 321 games in total in all competition over his two stints in charge (June 2004 to September 2007 and June 2013 to December 2015).
- The Portuguese won 204 of those matches and lost 48, with 11 of those coming this season.
- 9 league defeats in 2015-2016 represents Mourinho's worst campaign in terms of league losses season by season - his previous worst was 6 in 2013-2014.
- Mourinho averaged 2,33 points/Premier League game in his first spell in charge, compared to 2,00 during his second stint.
- No Premier League manager has a better points-per-game ratio (15+ games) than Mourinho (2,19), who is ahead of Sir Alex Ferguson (2,16), Manuel Pellegrini (2,14) and former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti (2,07).
- Chelsea have mounted the worst defence to a Premier League title after 16 games, having taken 15 points. Blackburn Rovers (1995-1996) are next with 21 points.
- A total of 377 league goals were scored by Chelsea under Mourinho, with 152 conceded.
Palace agree deal with American investors
Crystal Palace have confirmed a deal which sees American tycoons David Blitzer and Josh Harris take a stake in the Premier League club.
The duo have been in talks with Palace for over a year and now join chairman Steve Parish in control at Selhurst Park after the deal was announced on Friday.
Blitzer and Harris have a history of sports investment and currently co-own the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Devils in the NHL.
Palace sit 6th in the Premier League table after 16 games, with their next test coming away to Stoke City on Saturday.

Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of Guus Hiddik as interim manager until the end of the season.
Jose Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea earlier this week after presiding over a disastrous defence of Chelsea's Premier League title, with the club 16th in the table with 9 defeats in 16 games.
It is Dutchman Hiddink's second spell at Chelsea having won the FA Cup in 2009 in an interim role following the sacking of Luiz Felipe Scolari.
The Dutchman has a varied and impressive CV having won the European Cup with PSV Eindhoven in 1988 and managed the likes of South Korea, Russia, Turkey and his home country.
However, his second spell in charge of Holland ended in disaster as he was axed before the conclusion of their failed attempt to qualify for EURO 2016.
Manchester United and France forward Anthony Martial has won the 2015 Golden Boy award that recognises the best young player in Europe.
Launched by Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport in 2003, the Golden Boy is restricted to players under the age of 21 and is voted for by writers from 30 newspapers across the continent.
Martial took the gong ahead of Bayern Munchen winger Kingsley Coman and Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin.
The 20-year-old became the most expensive teenager in football history when he secured a September deadline-day move to United from AS Monaco.
He has scored 6 times in 19 appearances to date for Louis van Gaal's team, while also making the breakthrough to earn full international honours with France this season.
Martial succeeds Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling as the Golden Boy winner.

Liverpool have been dealt a blow with the news that centre-back Martin Skrtel is set to miss 6 weeks of action after suffering a tear in his hamstring and tendon.
The Slovakia defender picked up the injury during the first half of Liverpool's disappointing 3-0 Premier League loss at Watford on Sunday.
Initially there were fears that Skrtel would spend 3 months on the sidelines.
However, the 31-year-old revealed on Instagram the injury is not as bad as first thought.

Mauricio Pochettino expects forward Clinton N'Jie to miss at least 2 months while he recovers from knee surgery.
Cameroon international N'Jie underwent surgery last week after suffering medial collateral ligament damage in the second half of Tottenham's 4-1 Europa League win over AS Monaco on 10 December.
